the christian god is the second most recent god to be invented out of hundreds... even if there is a god, chances are he won't be yours. i'm off to have sex before i'm married... because thats nature...
@doubledutch6rudder I pressume this is your reasoning that God doesn't exist. But I sure hope it isn't because if it is true, God exists!
Anyway, maintain your beliefs all you want but as I said, its a shame you don't want to hear the other side. For the first side that speaks seems more correct that is until crossexamination. Guess which book that came from :P
@seantaylor1334 Maybe you should examine your own side and look at all the contradictions and horrible acts in the bible. As for the book, he argues that god is not arrogant for wanting to be worshipped, and that jealousy is appropriate for a divine being. He also argues that it is not always wrong to take an innocent life. I need not look into the book any further, thank you
@seantaylor1334 read a quick synopsis, grabbed a couple points, and it was just as i had expected. And if you are a christian you must embrace all of the moral values in the bible...including punishing working on sundays, a women not being virgin on your weddinng night, cursing at your parents, or not listening to your preists by death. Not to mention slavery and rape.
Reading a couple of points and a quick synopsis doesn't give you much to go based off. You still didn't give a quote that says Dr. Copan is arguing for "God is not arrogant for wanting worship".
You obviously aren't interested in what the other side says. So I hope you have a lovely evening, morning, or afternoon.
@seantaylor1334 you are ubelievable. Look it up, or read the book. I read a synopsis, so i cant quote him. And you, once again, are willing to ignore the atrocities in the bible
I've read the comments here about the issues about God's morality. I wonder if even a quater of you read Dr. Paul Copan's book on these subjects before you raised these objections.
I wonder if any of his friends gave him the book written by Dr. William Lane Craig entitled "Reasonable Faith" as a response to him giving them "The God Delusion". Perhaps this is the only means by which these two will ever have another discussion.
it doesnt permit rape in the bible, it has storys about rape, but its not permited, it has storys about many things that arent permited, what words did i put in jimmys mouth? hes turned pedophilia into a joke sevral times, oh and by the way the punishable by death crimes were in the old testiment, its easy to see why God would have to use such serious punishment before he was able to come into the world, people are violent and lustful. i want to see Jimmy car make fun of mohammad in the same way
a few things... "able to come into the world"? isn't this god we're talking about? also, I with my puny human brain can think of 3 ways off the top of my head i would persuade people to do what i wanted without killing them, had i infinite power. It would be easy if i was god. Why would he be so uncreative? are you willing to bet money there isn't a single story of god permitting rape?
@PracticeMakesAwesome no God doesnt force anybody you have a choice, show me where God in the bible tells a man to rape a woman. and as a side note, if you have no objective morality, why do you see a problem with rape? animals rape each other, why arent you running around trying to save them? rejecting objective morality is the most immoral thing you can do really.
It is, I never said that catholicism or christianity is the right and only way to go. People have a choice whether they want to believe in something or not whether it be christianity, islam, hinduism or nothing at all. I for one do believe but I am not forcing my opinion or beliefs on other people.
makes fun of Jesus, and then brings up pedophilia, no God means no rules, do whatever you like Jimmy, thats the idea behind athiesm, "we are Gods" "we make our own rules". worship is built into our hearts, you can worship yourself if you want, but the only man that ever walked this earth worthy of worship in my view is The Lord Jesus Christ. dont be intimidated by attention seeking atheists trying step over the line with their sick humor.
@Ragnarblackmane12 "to the corrupt, all things are corrupt" you can look at anything negatively, i think Jesus Christ is worthy of worship, you perhaps worship yourself, yet maybe you cheat your taxes or look at woman as objects sometimes, thats wat men especially do! to name a few! you can worship yourself if you want but i think thats quite evil to be honest...
@jamesearlcash500 I once thought as you did. Oh yes. I used to be a christian. Then it was as if a veil was lifted from my eyes and I saw the truth of how evil the history of christianity is. I don't worship myself. I hate myself actually. But the true test of who is right is this. If you saw me burning in hell, you would probably say it was god's judgement and move on. If it was you burning in hell, I would risk everything to get you out.
"If you saw me burning in hell, you would probably say it was god's judgement and move on. If it was you burning in hell, I would risk everything to get you out."
Jesus whent throw hell so that none would have to. God (Jesus) did not come into the world to condem it but to save it. He whent to hell so that we wouldn't have to. A true christain that is touched by the spirit of God would never walk away from him.
@Ragnarblackmane12 That is the most disgusting thing about medieval art. You see depictions of heaven and hell, with the people in heaven rubbing their hand in glee over the torture they are witnessing occur in hell. Apparently according to the middle ages, in order to be a good christian, you must be sadistic.
@Ragnarblackmane12 no first of all there is not violence in the history of Christianity, you have to look at the source material, dont ring up catholic crusades because that has nothing to do with the bible, those people would kill anybody who tried to convert the bible into english, God doesn want you to go to hell and neither do i, i think you should go into the gospels again and remember who Jesus Christ is, he allowed himself to be killed for a reason.
@jamesearlcash500 The history of Christianity is very violent and has many dark parts. You're a dishonest person to say the opposite. I'm sure you god is very disappoointed for lying to protect your faith. Ignorance is an excuse either. The bible is just a made up collection of stories. In history books of the future, Christianity will be taught as mythology just like the ancient roman and greek religions
@jamesearlcash500 "no God means no rules” --> no, no god means that people have to provide reasons for the rules that are made, rather than write them and say “God wants it this way”
I mean if we were to follow the bibles rules, I’d be in sh*t for eating lobster. In the bible it makes eating shellfish to be on the same level as incest, and homosexuality.
you could however, rape a girl you found her to be pretty and pay her parents a small sum of money for her to be my wife (assuming she is not engaged or married otherwise you’d both be stoned to death).
You can have your bible rules, I’m going to stick to the ones that are rational
@BaneOfAzrael U are so right. Bible also says stuff like that u should stone children to death if they are disobedient and when at war kill everyone except the little female children which u should keep for yourselves (in other words rape).
Bible is not a moral guideline unless u find being a childkilling rapist moral. Also the ten commandments are stolen from hammurabis code so there were laws guiding behaviour before bible.
@BaneOfAzrael ?? thats a story in the bible, talking about the culture, God punishes the unrepentent, any one that thinks rape is ok will be punished, tell me where God says rape is ok? the bible might have a story about sin that doesnt mean it condones it.
@jamesearlcash500 To answer your question. No The God of the bible never says “Its ok to rape” not directly at-least. There are of course passages where God Commands his people to kill off entire towns, nations, etc and says that they can keep the women or keep the virgins for themselves (this would imply rape) but this was not the passage i was directly referring to.
@BaneOfAzrael God gives life, and God can take it away, every sinner will die anyway the christian view is that you should be dead for your sins anyway and you live by grace alone
Deuteronomy 22:28 "If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.”
This presents a loophole, one I pointed out. If you lived by this rule then if you saw a desirable woman who was not engaged, you can rape her and then pay 50 pieces of silver and she’s stuck as your wife... disgusting eh?
@BaneOfAzrael Actually they should bring that rule back. no one would be single as long as they got 50 pieces.I think the price of pussy has increased with inflation though.
@BaneOfAzrael no the money being payed is a part of a punishment and the forced mairage is for the man to take responsibility for perhaps any children concieved, i dont entirely like the idea, but its not condoning rape, rape happens, and this is the punishment and btw if you look at the original hebrew it doesnt exactly mean rape as we know it. now answer my question, if your going to ignore the good things Jesus taught because of 1 verse y arent you stopping all the animals raping eachother??
@jamesearlcash500 Funny, another example of how atheists know more about the bible and religion then the religious do. You can find pages of evil and morally horrible acts in the bible. Slavery, rape, and a huge list of crimes punishable by death. And stop putting words in atheists mouths
@doubledutch6rudder You know, there is a book written by a Christian that explains these acts of which you speak. It's called "Is God A Moral Monster?" written by Dr. Paul Copan.
@seantaylor1334 no i dont want to buy and waste my time reading a book. There are countless indefensible attrocities in the bible. Here is an example:
the LORD instructed one of the group of prophets to say to another man, "Strike me!" But the man refused to strike the prophet. Then the prophet told him, "Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, a lion will kill you as soon as you leave me." And sure enough, when he had gone, a lion attacked and killed him. (1 Kings 20:35-36 NLT)
It is interesting how in the same segment the comedian complains about how all religions think that other religions are wrong, and then he proclaims his belief system is correct and all religions are wrong. For those of you that need scientific proof for Christ, I suggest you apply the same principle for your belief system. Announcing their is NO GOD is the same as announcing their is.
@AustinSamIam Not to start an argument, but the burden of proof lies on the party making a positive claim. (If it didn't anyone could make charges of murder without any proof/evidence)
@AustinSamIam Athiests dont work on proof, they work on what is scientifically most likely. Meaning supernatural fairy tales in a book are most likely not true whereas evolotion which can be backed up by science is much more likely to be true. Basically athiests arent brainwashed into believing things that dont have an ounce of evidence to back them up.
@AustinSamIam The difference is, if you say "THERE IS A GOD" and someone says show me proof, you hold up the Bible and say "here's my proof". But if a scientist says "THERE IS NO GOD" and someone says show me proof, it could take them a year to show you all the evidence piled up against your God's existence. And in all honesty, I'd rather believe years of scientific research over a 3000 year old book that's been changed over a thousand times.
jimmy carr is an annoying, prissy, self-righteous bitch. shut the fuck up, you dont even understand basic concepts of Christianity. im an atheist and i still at least try to understand Christians positions, but you have the stupidest fucking arguments as to why God doesnt exist, its pathetic. "if we're all gods children what makes jesus special?" because he was GOD IN FLESH you moron, even an atheist like myself is able to understand the Christian doctrine regarding who Jesus was, you fail.
ive always wondered what it is like to lose your religion. i never had any. my parents got me into a religious junior school when i was little (because it was a fairly good school) and on the first day they told me if asked to lie about going to church xD there was never any religion at home..
Well, to answer your question, why god does not send another Jesus:
In my opinion:
Practically everything in the bible is a matter of interpretation.
I don't believe that anything in that book is meant literally. It is meant somewhat as a "Moral guide", but if you think that the bible CREATED moral, you are mistaken.
God isn't a literal being, but rather something we have created to personify all the good in the world. (The word "God" actually means "Good")
So you are saying you are happy to believe in something that very possibly could not be true.
Of course religion needs proof. Everything needs proof with tangible evidence otherwise its just potential nonsense. Dont get me wrong I would be more than happy to be shown real evidence that there is a god. Its just more likely that there isnt. I just find it odd that people say yes god does exist because here look it says so in a book. A book that was written in primative times.
You say that the main stories are supernatural, but the very definition of religion is a belief in one or more superhuman beings. Especially a personal god or gods.
Religion is not something that needs proof. It is a feeling more than anything else.
Before brain scans were available, you had no way of proving you were sad. That did not mean you were not sad, did it?
@1996ragnar Also why doesnt god send another jesus to earth to prove all the athiests wrong. Better still if god did make me why did he make me a none believer? There are too many questions regarding the bible that just dont add up and frankly I find it crazy that people are brainwashed by it these days.
@1996ragnar Christians believe in god and that he waved his magic wand and created the earth and adam and eve. How can they also believe in evolution they are two seperate and opposite arguments?
@1996ragnar Sure I was genneraly speaking of people who take the bible as fact with zero evidence of it being actually true. The main "stories" in the bible are what modern man would describe as supernatural and not possible by our own laws of science. As you say different religions believe different things. Either only one of them is true or more likely none of them are.
JIMMY CARR IS AN ABORTION LOVING SATANIC JEW BASTARD WHO WAS BEATEN AS A CHILD SO NOW HE HAS TO SPREAD HIS ANTICHRISTIAN RHETORIC AND FORCE IT ON OTHERS!! ATHEISM IS A MENTAL DISEASE!! EVERYONE IS BORN WITH KNOWLEDGE ABOUT GOD AND PEOPLE LIKE CARR TRY TO DESTROY THAT KNOWLEDGE! DONT FALL FOR THE SATANIC JEW MESSAGE!
@stinnetbennet Guess which religion christianity used to be a sect of. I'm sorry but if I had to choose which is a mental disease between atheism and christianity I know what I'd choose.
@stinnetbennet you racist, im jewish AND athiest, as I understand the principles of the religion, I just don't follow the god, so you can just go away. You believe in God, and I and others don't. And you clearly follow Christianity really well, judging by your brilliantly positive, friendly and welcoming message.
people! what's the point in arguing nobody can prove either argument correctly! i believe in God but i certainly don't expect my atheist friends who try to argue with me to understand the 'faith' argument just out of nowhere, nor do atheists trying to argue or even persuade people to stop believing in god get anywhere with THEIR argument.
@LukeGriffths121 in other words 'tell me some of your points so i can bat them back and make myself feel good!' right? ;) i told you already there's no point arguing :) you won't 'disprove' God to me!
@xProudxIrishxGirlx No, it doesn't make myself feel good. Religion depresses me greatly. I don't need to disprove God to you, you need to prove God to me.
@LukeGriffths121 does it really? even though even the concept of God provides great comfort to many many people, it depresses you? that's quite sad. don't be depressed by something you're unlikely to change! it's impossible to prove something when the evidence is subject to argument, so i think you won't be happy trying to ask other people to prove that God exists. in my experience, atheists spend a long time trying to prove their own argument, not to others but to themselves.
@xProudxIrishxGirlx It depresses me that people put faith in something that promotes violence, hatred and intolerance but wraps it up in love. It depresses me that an otherwise moral man will do something totally unacceptable in the name of religion (forcibly circumcising a child for no other reason than he is born jewish) It depresses me that people believe in an irrational fairy tale because of the promise of life after death. It depresses me that people believe in order to be a good person
@xProudxIrishxGirlx all they need to do is worship and kiss some imaginary guy's ass rather than treating people how they wish to be treated. It depresses me that people will hate a whole group of people (gays) just because of a few lines in a book written by people in a society that is totally different and more developed than that one. That's what depresses me. Yes, it's impossible to disprove God but yet you still believe in it? Do you believe in unicorns? I can't disprove that either.
@xProudxIrishxGirlx ' atheists spend a long time trying to prove their own argument, not to others but to themselves' Atheists spend a long time fighting irrationality, that's what they do. What the fuck do you mean that they try to prove it to themselves? They attempt to prove to themselves that God doesn't exist? That is such a ignorant statement.
@LukeGriffths121 what i mean is, i hope you find a meaning that you're happy with and don't have to demand proof/argue with others to define your own belief
@LukeGriffths121 what i mean is, i hope you find a meaning that you're happy with and don't have to demand proof/argue with others to define your own belief
@BenFosterism Yeah, I know about that, the prejudices, and the truly and utterly wrong things that are connected with religion. But you have to differentiate between religion (as an abstract idea), and how people use it. Every religion or belief system (atheism as well) can be used for bad things inherently. What saddens me is this "revenge spirit" slagging off beleivers without any respect - exactly the same action against which atheism is supposed to stands for.
These openly agressive, condescending and painfully narrow-minded comments of these "hyper-atheists" make me absolutely sad. Wanna be az atheist? Go ahead! Think there's a God out there? Go ahead. I don't force my beliefs on anybody, so please, don't make me look like a 4 year old child with fairy tales. Like THAT'S the real intelligent thing an enlightened atheist/science guy would do. Come on.
@PPGlam But the way religion is organised it does force beliefs on people... thats why atheist are becoming tired of just letting people going on about their bussiness believeing god. increasingly religions are combating losing people by talking about death and evil rather than about living a good life. Athiests are simply trying to speed up logic and I certainly don't mind open debate about athism(well since pretty much every debate comes out with athism as the winner)
@PPGlam these are the attacks atheists had to put up with for years. and they had to put up with much worse than verbal and written attacks. a lot of black americans hate white people because of what some white people did a long time ago. im not saying its right just that it is so. seeing an old lady donate her pension to a church collection plate when she cant heat her home makes me sad
They think with time a non-living thing can start to live, a non aware being can start to aware,Information (like DNA) can be formed without intellegence,
social behaviour and techniques of animals and insects are in the genes ! an the best is this stuff : /watch?v=dOyc98tV5kA did? evolved wings ! and the ability to fly !

@rwtj01 I'm from texas and thought it was funny. Figured that irish people or whoever the audience was...cause I obviously didn't know, would find it funny as well. They didn't and I wondered why. Honestly the answer you gave me as actually not even that correct. Humor is more universal in my opinion than relative. Oafing's response was actually good enough for me :)
@braxxo In some ways, you are right, in others, wrong. Comedians who tour internationally don't always use the same material. It all depends. I think laughing is universal, most people like to laugh. If humour was universal, there wouldn't be such a thing as British humour.
The Irish take their religion more seriously than Texan's take their guns. However, I wouldn't care to voice an opinion on which of these has killed the most people.
If you watch anything on YT that you are unable to understand, may I make a few suggestions.
(1) Pause the programme that you are watching.
(2) Open another window on your computer.
(3) Use the search engine of your choice, and get up to speed.
(4) NEVER sit on your arse saying "Man didn't say, so I dunno".
@braxxo This is an Irish show. Religion is still a big thing in Ireland. Pretty sure quite a few people want to laugh but they are scared of being the only one and being shunned. The paused laughter is due to people thinking I can't laugh at that until a few other people laugh about it.
@braxxo Eh???... They're not British. He is British and makes jokes that British people laugh at. That's why he's a big star in.... (drumroll) Britain. Ooops, maybe better that you don't write on youtube. It's hard to stand out as an idiot on these comments pages but you did it. Well done
Funny that Jimmy Carr says he's a big fan of Dawkins and his work. But obviously he didn't understand it fully. Being a fundamental atheist is impossible. For it is impossible to be fundamental in not believing something.
@Apparas It's quite possible. Rational atheist doesn't believe god exists. Fundamental atheist strongly believes god doesn't exist. The difference sounds small but one rejects the claim of god's existence because of absence or insufficiency of evidence, the other one claims that god doesn't exist without sufficient proof.
There are as many definitions of 'god' as there are believers on the planet. There's nothing fundamentalist about the statement that every version of the god hypothesis is wrong. After thousands of years not a single one has ever been proven, that's about as good of a statistical certainty as you're ever going to see.
I don't believe that fundamental atheists exist. I would rather call them (what I believe you think is 'fundamental') enthusiastic. Surely one can be really strong in arguing against Theism (Like Dawkins). However, it is simply attacking the irrational. Not imposing the atheistic view (which isn't really a view but a theorem). I'm just saying that Dawkins argues against the existence of a fundamental atheist. Pointing out that Jimmy Carr is contradicting Dawkins.
"If we're all God's children, then what's so special about Jesus?" This is how I know atheist logic is not logical at all as it bases its assumptions on false presuppositions. What we all are is God's creation, however not all of us are His children as in order to become His children we must have a relationship with Him. The falsity of the question Carr asked is therefore evident. If this is the logic atheists apply in their pursuit of knowledge, then self-delusion is an assured experience.
If you're going to insult somebody that asks questions, you really don't understand this whole learning thing, do you? It's a fair point. I grew up going to church every Sunday and I lost count of the number of times the priest told us we are all god's children.
Now, if you want to play logic, then answer this: where is your proof?
There's no need for proof, just read the Bible where it says in John I: "12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." That being said, I totally agree that asking questions is part of obtaining knowledge IF they are the correct questions. One priest can be wrong, but 2 be sure, just read the source. Right?
i respect religious people. i dont critise them because if following a religion no matter what religion it is (yes even scientologists haha bad joke). if religion makes someone happy with their lives then so be it and good for them. better believing in something than nothing. but jimmy carr has an opinion and you HAVE NO RIGHT saying he's wrong cause the penny spins both ways. least now we can voice opinions without being killed or stoned to death because of religion
@MegaLiftman When I was a small child I thought Star Wars was a documentary. A long time ago in a galaxy far away...at least I could see the people in the movie.
@MegaLiftman Analogy. You said it was odd how people think a book proves God. I was demonstrating how that's about the same level of thinking where a movie proves events really happened. Thinking suitable for a child.
@MegaLiftman This is just a response to a few of your posts. God created us with free will or freedom of choice, thats why you were born as a 'non-believer' as you say.
I'm a catholic and its not that words in a book prove that God exist, It's through peoples faith and belief that he exists.
@flotopo What your saying is very offensive because you're basically denying that life is complex and your looking for the easy route out to explaining the world, you can't accept that it is all chance because it seems too obvious however evolution has taken millions of years to get to how it is now to how can it be easy? Everyday humans have reproduced what Jesus did, walking on water, making the blind see, turning water to wine, making a virgin pregnant. He was just a good magician.
@DontBotherTETRiS if you dont believe in something then you actually believe in its non existance. What harm are people who believe doing? And compare it to those who dont believe.
@qafaliaj No. There is a difference between disbelief, and belief in the negative. My couch does not believe in X, that doesn't mean my couch believes that X doesn't exist.
@moonsugar1 firstly where did you gwt the idea that i believe from, if you look at the comments i have been posting you will notice that i have said that nobody knows!. you just assume im a believer just like you assume god doesnt exist. i dont have to prove anything becausey mind is not made up. if you are the one that believes god doesnt exist then you should prove your belief
@robiniohofc yes because people of no faith are better? e.g americans? theyre starting wars for fuel? that is what you call evil not fighting for what you believe
@moonsugar1 so if science hasnt yet proven somethin it doesn't exist? So the higgs boson doesnt exist untill it Is proven? Did the earth not revolve around the sun untill it was proven? Find me one scientist who can prove that god doesn't exist. I'm not saying he does exist I'm simply saying noone knows for sure.
@qafaliaj What are you talking about it doesnt exist? Thats retarded. The point you make about the world being round proves the science arguement. Science, with FACTS, proved that the world was round. It questioned what was said, developed a theory, and conducted a number of tests and experiments before proving it.
I replied to the last comment you left before mine. I dont give two shits what you believe to be honest.
God could be an algorithm or anything for that matter. Badge-wearing atheists are just academics (or self-promoters) and just as bad as dogmatic religious people in a way. I am not religious at all but can't say I don't absolutely believe in God. Am I missing something?
@qafaliaj Its called science mate, its entirely based around things we can prove, unlike various parts of religions that go against the teachings of science with nothing more than blind faith, which isnt a fact of anything.
Anyway your the one that believes, so the burden of proof is on you.
what's your opinion on scientologists believing in aliens from pluto who's souls traveled to earth and possessed early humans giving them intelligence???????
can you prove he's wrong?.
i believe there are invisible dogs running around my room trying to catch invisible rabbits? can you prove it doesnt exist?
seeing is believing. i dont believe in mans interpetation of god but i do believe there is something so big that we just cant explain and just have to wait and see
@qafaliaj You've got it completely arse backwards. One needs to and is taught religion and to believe in God to believe them things, but for one to become an Atheist, there is no need to be taught it. If you were to grow up with no religious influences in your life at all, you wouldn't believe in a God, because you wouldn't need to, you wouldn't even know what a God is. At the end of the day, the burden of proof lies on the one that claims these things to be true, where is it?
Dawkins has claimed, “As for religion … nobody wields a sharper bayonet than Sam Harris.” Harris debated Craig on 7th April. In his opening statement in that debate, Harris declared that Dr Craig is “the one Christian apologist who seems to have put the fear of God into many of my fellow atheists.” After that debate, the atheist website Debunking Christianity reported: “Bill (Craig) has once again showed himself as the best debater of this generation.” ROFL
@DontBotherTETRiS I have the same problem with atheists more often than notice religious people trying to "save" others. Every day in the media you see religion being criticised and you see people saying god doesn't exist. Why don't you see that as people preaching the views of an atheist?
@qafaliaj Can you give me an example because I can't remember seeing that?
I don't see it as them preaching their views because more often than not, if someone is questioning the existence of god it's usually one person expressing their own opinions and beliefs. Of course there are Atheists who are desperate to prove that god doesn't exist, I'm not saying there aren't and that I agree with that, but that usually has less harsh consequences. It's only questioning an idea..
@OmegaQuave Maybe you should study things before you make judgements upon them. People who are quick to gain an opinion on something are often made to look stupid.
@qafaliaj What an indulgently philosophical comment. I think I'm going to go and sulk now that you've ruined my fun and made me out to look so devastatingly moronic.
@BeBoBli Because ALL main religions teach the same fundamental lessons. Also have you read every religious book to be able to decipher whether they contradict each other or not? you conduct your research through other people and you base all of you opinions on other peoples words and not facts. that makes you as brainwashed as someone who believes they can fly simply because they're told they can. you have no idea what religion is and clearly failed to understand its teachings as a child.
Anyone on here who is saying that religious people are fools and are brainwashed need to stop and think about what they're saying. If i started preaching about god on this comment you would all criticize me of trying to brainwash people into believing in god and this is how all religious people get brainwashed. But by saying that all people who believe in god are fools who are imagining things, aren't you preaching atheism to me? That would make you more the fool than those you criticize.
"But by saying that all people who believe in god are fools who are imagining things, aren't you preaching atheism to me?"
Since atheism is not believing in gods due to the lack of evidence of their existence, your point is rather irrelevant. It wouldn't be preaching atheism but actually teaching one to have a rational outlook at life : Don't believe things exist if there is no evidence it exist.
@qafaliaj By brainwashing we mean, growing up in an environment where everyone in your household tells you that god exists from the day you were born, and you keep hearing that from your parents,as a child you think "if my parents say so, it must be true". remember santa ?you probably once believed in him (or something similar depending on where you live)till the day your parents told you it was a lie.If they would have told you as a child that god doesn't exist, you would have also believed them
i met jimmy yesterday and showed him my theory. he was very impressed and said it was mindblowing. i have posted what happened on you-tube site "un human rights chief highlights australian".

He also argues that it is not always wrong to take an innocent life. I need not look into the book any further, thank you
doubledutch6rudder 19 hours ago
@doubledutch6rudder But you haven't read the book... perhaps you can quote him saying that? I've given no indication that I haven't read my side.
seantaylor1334 18 hours ago
@seantaylor1334 read a quick synopsis, grabbed a couple points, and it was just as i had expected. And if you are a christian you must embrace all of the moral values in the bible...including punishing working on sundays, a women not being virgin on your weddinng night, cursing at your parents, or not listening to your preists by death. Not to mention slavery and rape.
doubledutch6rudder 18 hours ago
@doubledutch6rudder How familiar are you with Christian Theology?
Reading a couple of points and a quick synopsis doesn't give you much to go based off. You still didn't give a quote that says Dr. Copan is arguing for "God is not arrogant for wanting worship".
You obviously aren't interested in what the other side says. So I hope you have a lovely evening, morning, or afternoon.

seantaylor1334 18 hours ago
@seantaylor1334 you are ubelievable. Look it up, or read the book. I read a synopsis, so i cant quote him. And you, once again, are willing to ignore the atrocities in the bible
doubledutch6rudder 18 hours ago
I've read the comments here about the issues about God's morality. I wonder if even a quater of you read Dr. Paul Copan's book on these subjects before you raised these objections.

I wonder if any of his friends gave him the book written by Dr. William Lane Craig entitled "Reasonable Faith" as a response to him giving them "The God Delusion". Perhaps this is the only means by which these two will ever have another discussion.

It would be easy if i was god. Why would he be so uncreative? are you willing to bet money there isn't a single story of god permitting rape?
PracticeMakesAwesome 22 hours ago
@PracticeMakesAwesome no God doesnt force anybody you have a choice, show me where God in the bible tells a man to rape a woman. and as a side note, if you have no objective morality, why do you see a problem with rape? animals rape each other, why arent you running around trying to save them? rejecting objective morality is the most immoral thing you can do really.
jamesearlcash500 16 hours ago
It is, I never said that catholicism or christianity is the right and only way to go. People have a choice whether they want to believe in something or not whether it be christianity, islam, hinduism or nothing at all. I for one do believe but I am not forcing my opinion or beliefs on other people.

@jamesearlcash500 I once thought as you did. Oh yes. I used to be a christian. Then it was as if a veil was lifted from my eyes and I saw the truth of how evil the history of christianity is. @Ragnarblackmane12 That is the most disgusting thing about medieval art. Apparently according to the middle ages, in order to be a good christian, you must be sadistic.

@Jonstern1983 Well considering how much of a sadistic cunt their god is in their book, i would say yeah, seems legit lol.
MitchofSmeg 6 hours ago
@Ragnarblackmane12 no first of all there is not violence in the history of Christianity, you have to look at the source material, dont ring up catholic crusades because that has nothing to do with the bible, those people would kill anybody who tried to convert the bible into english, God doesn want you to go to hell and neither do i, i think you should go into the gospels again and remember who Jesus Christ is, he allowed himself to be killed for a reason.
jamesearlcash500 5 hours ago

BaneOfAzrael 1 day ago
@jamesearlcash500
you could however, rape a girl you found her to be pretty and pay her parents a small sum of money for her to be my wife (assuming she is not engaged or married otherwise you’d both be stoned to death).
You can have your bible rules, I’m going to stick to the ones that are rational
BaneOfAzrael 1 day ago
@BaneOfAzrael U are so right. Bible also says stuff like that u should stone children to death if they are disobedient and when at war kill everyone except the little female children which u should keep for yourselves (in other words rape).
Bible is not a moral guideline unless u find being a childkilling rapist moral. Also the ten commandments are stolen from hammurabis code so there were laws guiding behaviour before bible.
The1VoiceOfReason 1 day ago
@BaneOfAzrael ?? thats a story in the bible, talking about the culture, God punishes the unrepentent, any one that thinks rape is ok will be punished, tell me where God says rape is ok? the bible might have a story about sin that doesnt mean it condones it.
jamesearlcash500 16 hours ago
@jamesearlcash500 To answer your question. No The God of the bible never says “Its ok to rape” not directly at-least. There are of course passages where God Commands his people to kill off entire towns, nations, etc and says that they can keep the women or keep the virgins for themselves (this would imply rape) but this was not the passage i was directly referring to.
BaneOfAzrael 13 hours ago

BaneOfAzrael 13 hours ago
@BaneOfAzrael Actually they should bring that rule back. no one would be single as long as they got 50 pieces.I think the price of pussy has increased with inflation though.
SEAWEEDRAVEN 12 hours ago
@BaneOfAzrael no the money being payed is a part of a punishment and the forced mairage is for the man to take responsibility for perhaps any children concieved, i dont entirely like the idea, but its not condoning rape, rape happens, and this is the punishment and btw if you look at the original hebrew it doesnt exactly mean rape as we know it. now answer my question, if your going to ignore the good things Jesus taught because of 1 verse y arent you stopping all the animals raping eachother??
jamesearlcash500 5 hours ago
@jamesearlcash500 Funny, another example of how atheists know more about the bible and religion then the religious do. You can find pages of evil and morally horrible acts in the bible. Slavery, rape, and a huge list of crimes punishable by death. And stop putting words in atheists mouths

Then the prophet told him, "Because you have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, a lion will kill you as soon as you leave me." And sure enough, when he had gone, a lion attacked and killed him.
AustinSamIam 2 days ago
@AustinSamIam Not to start an argument, but the burden of proof lies on the party making a positive claim. (If it didn't anyone could make charges of murder without any proof/evidence)
MrShyguy0 2 days ago
@AustinSamIam Athiests dont work on proof, they work on what is scientifically most likely. Meaning supernatural fairy tales in a book are most likely not true whereas evolotion which can be backed up by science is much more likely to be true. Basically athiests arent brainwashed into believing things that dont have an ounce of evidence to back them up.

And in all honesty, I'd rather believe years of scientific research over a 3000 year old book that's been changed over a thousand times.

@MegaLiftman
(The word "God" actually means "Good")
1996ragnar 3 days ago
So you are saying you are happy to believe in something that very possibly could not be true.
Of course religion needs proof. Everything needs proof with tangible evidence otherwise its just potential nonsense. Dont get me wrong I would be more than happy to be shown real evidence that there is a god. Its just more likely that there isnt. I just find it odd that people say yes god does exist because here look it says so in a book. A book that was written in primative times.
MegaLiftman 3 days ago in playlist Favorite videos
@MegaLiftman

@1996ragnar Christians believe in god and that he waved his magic wand and created the earth and adam and eve. How can they also believe in evolution they are two seperate and opposite arguments?
MegaLiftman 3 days ago in playlist Favorite videos
@MegaLiftman
"Religous people" is a very wide (for lack of a better word) thing. So is "God".
For instance you would find many tribes in the african jungle who praise a god but do not have a certain book they use.
And if we continue with this example, these people don't know that evolution exists, so there really is nothing they can "Deal" with.
Furthermore: I do presume you are referring to christian's, and if you are, that is a very generalizing and disrespectful statement.
1996ragnar 3 days ago
@1996ragnar Sure I was genneraly speaking of people who take the bible as fact with zero evidence of it being actually true. The main "stories" in the bible are what modern man would describe as supernatural and not possible by our own laws of science. As you say different religions believe different things. Either only one of them is true or more likely none of them are.

xProudxIrishxGirlx 3 days ago
@xProudxIrishxGirlx It depresses me that people put faith in something that promotes violence, hatred and intolerance but wraps it up in love. It depresses me that people believe in order to be a good person

@xProudxIrishxGirlx all they need to do is worship and kiss some imaginary guy's ass rather than treating people how they wish to be treated.

@braxxo In some ways, you are right, in others, wrong. Comedians who tour internationally don't always use the same material. It all depends. I think laughing is universal, most people like to laugh. If humour was universal, there wouldn't be such a thing as British humour.

@Oafing "Religion is still a big thing in Ireland"????
Thats not exactly accurate! Most people under 50 in Ireland are either atheist or simply have no religion! I'm one of them!
The audience in the Late Late Show shown here tends to be older and more conservative than most Irish people!
Most people who watch this show tend to be over 60, married and living in a rural area!
So the audience would not be representive of Irish mainstream opinion!

Apparas 3 days ago
@Apparas It's quite possible. Rational atheist doesn't believe god exists. Fundamental atheist strongly believes god doesn't exist. The difference sounds small but one rejects the claim of god's existence because of absence or insufficiency of evidence, the other one claims that god doesn't exist without sufficient proof.
Glad1kun 5 days ago
@Glad1kun
There are as many definitions of 'god' as there are believers on the planet. There's nothing fundamentalist about the statement that every version of the god hypothesis is wrong. After thousands of years not a single one has ever been proven, that's about as good of a statistical certainty as you're ever going to see.
luminaeus 5 days ago
@Glad1kun

AnnoyingingeXD 5 days ago 6
@AnnoyingingeXD,
There's no need for proof, just read the Bible where it says in John I: "12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." That being said, I totally agree that asking questions is part of obtaining knowledge IF they are the correct questions.

@flotopo no need for proof. LOL! it does take immense amounts of blatant ignorance to be a believer, huh?

@flotopo I love how religous people think words in a book proves god exists lol. We evolved and continue to do so. Deal with it.

Just my 2 cents.
YoYoRemix1 2 days ago
@YoYoRemix1 so by that logic, your god is in no way based in the real world, and every other religion is just as equal and right as yours

And compare it to those who dont believe.
qafaliaj 6 days ago
@qafaliaj No. There is a difference between disbelief, and belief in the negative. My couch does not believe in X, that doesn't mean my couch believes that X doesn't exist.

@moonsugar1 firstly where did you gwt the idea that i believe from, if you look at the comments i have been posting you will notice that i have said that nobody knows!. you just assume im a believer just like you assume god doesnt exist. i dont have to prove anything becausey mind is not made up. if you are the one that believes god doesnt exist then you should prove your belief
qafaliaj 6 days ago
@robiniohofc yes because people of no faith are better? e.g americans? theyre starting wars for fuel? that is what you call evil not fighting for what you believe
qafaliaj 6 days ago
@moonsugar1 so if science hasnt yet proven somethin it doesn't exist? So the higgs boson doesnt exist untill it Is proven? Did the earth not revolve around the sun untill it was proven? Find me one scientist who can prove that god doesn't exist. I'm not saying he does exist I'm simply saying noone knows for sure.
qafaliaj 6 days ago

@xBlackEditionx you cant prove it, therefore it is NOT fact nor fiction, just an opinion. if you claim you can prove it i would love to hear you try.
qafaliaj 6 days ago

Why don't you see that as people preaching the views of an atheist?
qafaliaj 6 days ago
@qafaliaj Saying god doesn't exists isn't "preaching", it's stating a fact based on evidence.
xBlackEditionx 6 days ago
@xBlackEditionx You can't "preach" to people that there isn't a flying teapot in the air. You TELL them because it's a FACT. Understand?
xBlackEditionx 6 days ago
@qafaliaj Can you give me an example because I can't remember seeing that?
I don't see it as them preaching their views because more often than not, if someone is questioning the existence of god it's usually one person expressing their own opinions and beliefs. Of course there are Atheists who are desperate to prove that god doesn't exist, I'm not saying there aren't and that I agree with that, but that usually has less harsh consequences. It's only questioning an idea..

OmegaQuave 6 days ago
@BeBoBli Because ALL main religions teach the same fundamental lessons. Also have you read every religious book to be able to decipher whether they contradict each other or not? you conduct your research through other people and you base all of you opinions on other peoples words and not facts. that makes you as brainwashed as someone who believes they can fly simply because they're told they can. you have no idea what religion is and clearly failed to understand its teachings as a child.
qafaliaj 1 week ago

Better luck next time.
Atharkas 1 week ago
@qafaliaj By brainwashing we mean, growing up in an environment where everyone in your household tells you that god exists from the day you were born, and you keep hearing that from your parents,as a child you think "if my parents say so, it must be true". remember santa ?you probably once believed in him (or something similar depending on where you live)till the day your parents told you it was a lie.If they would have told you as a child that god doesn't exist, you would have also believed them
