@TrixieValcyn actually... carnivores. i think you'll find these guys only eat insects and small rodents, not very many of them eat fruit, and even so its always better to follow the natural course of things, i feed mine silkworms,hornworms and the ocasional roach or pinkie

I feed mine a mouse maybe onece every couple of months he loves them but they ARE NOT GOOD FOR THEM!!! Hope he is still alive and well, he is a beautiful frillie!!! Not many lizards can survive on only mamals.

@wan2shuffle half the problem is lizards like this one agamids to be more correct are not designed to only eat rodents, they feed mostly on insects in the wild, their digestive systems can't handle only rodents, it isn't just that he needs the other kinds of nutrients but that he can't have so much of one. Like if a person for example were to eat only steak everyday and thats it. they wouldn't last long, as is with this dragon.
@cavajason Depends on what type of tegu you get. Black and white Argentine tegus will rarely eat any fruits or veggies, I mean I can sneak in a blue berry or so but that’s it, as for the Colombian tegus, they have a stronger urge to eat fruits and veggies. I have 2 B&Ws and I rarely give my male or female fruits in their diet and they are perfectly healthy.

Using live feeders is cruel, both to the prey and predator. I've seen plenty of snakes and lizards with injuries inflicted on them by rodents; they have huge teeth! Animal protein is good for these guys, but there are plenty of frozen ones available.
This is natural for these animals. They're predators. Do you think someone walks around in their natural habitats tossing frozen mice around for them to eat?

actualy it is legal to feed any animal to any other animal in england so long as it isn't endangerd and there are no more than 2 people watching. also some people do breed alot of mice to be fed to reptiles and frozen mice/rats go through alot worse then being killed by another animals when they die.

im tired about people complaining about live feeding. What do you care what is fed to THEIR animals. Yes, it may suck and you might disagree, but ultimately its theirs and you have no right to tell them to fuck off or anything of that nature. BTW i have about 20 herps, so you can all kiss my ass if you dont think i have experience. I take great care of them, and I am tired of all the tree hugging wimps out there.

I dunno where you are but here (England) It's illegal to use live feed other than insects. = / And to all the idiots complaining saying shit like 'they kill mice in the wild' you're bringing the mice to them and locking them in a small container with niwhere to escape, not really giving them a fighting change like in 'the wild' ne?

Just curious isnt an all rodent diet not good for a reptile? isnt it really high in fat. I realize you said he only eats mice, but should you atleast try for variety. maybe not feed em one for a while? idk, its not my lizard and i dont know the species, i was just concerned that maybe tomuch of a good things is bad. good luck with your lizard!!

not all animals will eat a thawed pinky dumbass...my corn snake refuses to eat a thawed pinky or mouse so i have to feed him a live mouse and my ball python prefers live so get over it and dont watch it if u dont wonna see sumthin die

i agree with solaranX theres nothign cruel about it. things get eaten alive all the time in the wild wake up, do you not think a mouse went through pain when it got killed and frozen you jus need to get a stronger stomach or not watch the vids the mouse would be dead either way

Using live feeders is cruel, both to the prey and predator. I've seen plenty of snakes and lizards with injuries inflicted on them by rodents; they have huge teeth! Animal protein is good for these guys, but there are plenty of frozen ones available.
