  • my god i ved this movie they shoulda split this in two parts like they did harry potter and twighlight. this is way more deserving

  • they cut out the "bloated ageing whore" part lol

  • Rorschach <3

  • We want to be understood...

    watch?v=iXqhOukjQn8

  • "A victim of her own indecent lifestyle" should be "murdered by a minor adversary with a grudge." Changing that line changes his character in ways I don't like.

  • @Rarnabybudge I think it was inserted in there just to point out that Rorschach was a bit of a misogynist (not flaming, he is lol) I don't think it's a bad line, per-say, but meh, whatever...

He's badass, so I guess he can get away with it =D

  • @Rarnabybudge He was established as a bit of a homophobe and extreme right winger even in the comics, so it actually suits his character.

  • wen he died, a piece of me did to, it wus like a childhood dream being shattered................

  • Rorschach can kick Batman's ass anytime. Haha. That's just me though.

  • noticed how they chopped out the word "whores" and the quote "This city, it screams like an abetuar full of retarded children"

  • goblinboya

5 小时之前 I think Rorschach have succeed, Cuz he always believed in justice!

He wanted humanity to know the truth, and he altually did ! His journal at the end of the movie shows us indirectly that all people will know the truth.

So that means that he didnt die meaninglessly.

Dr, Manhattan and Adrian? They thought that they were smart or omnipotent, But they were wrong! Justice is !

  • 2:56 shouldn't they have heard that window break

  • @generalflood It's a movie.

He just waited a few minutes until they were far enough away (the black screen, the cut, was 2 minutes, whatever)

  • Rorschach was amazing. Wish I could've said the same about the entire movie.

  • rorschach's voice in english is so different to the one in german :O

    it's so.. quite

  • @muppelsuppenkasper

In our version, it made the theater seats rattle. xD

  • Rorschach should have been the hero of the movie. To heck with staying true to the graphic novel. Would have loved to see him kill both Ozymandias and Dr. Manhattan at the end of this wretched movie. Rorschach's and The Comedian's characters are the ONLY redeeming qualities of this film.

  • Adrain can go suck a donkey dick,

    Rorscach kicks ass.

  • It's Tom Waits :D

  • The use CGI on the mask using a series of different ink blots.

Rorschach is my second favourite on screen character. Jackie Earle is really an amazing actor. I wonder what he'll bring as Freddy Kreuger.

  • @emjayrodriguez Lack of height but a kick ass attitude. I can't wait to see it, and bear in mind, the only reason I will see it is because It has Jackie in it.

  • @Karine15 Rorschach is short. Even in the Graphic Novel.

  • @ThatCoolGuyNamedMatt I read somewhere that he was 6'1.

  • @NessaMode But dude. In the GN when he is being arrested the cops say something like "He's got elevator shoes on!" or something like that. Rorschach is short. I mean I might be wrong but you might have seen that about Hailey.

  • @ThatCoolGuyNamedMatt Ohhh that makes so much sense. Haley is a great actor, hes like 5'5.But thats why he was chosen as Freddy in the new Nightmare On Elm Street Movie. I think Rorschach deserves his own spinoff movie. That would probably make more money then the actual Watchmen movie.

  • @NessaMode Personally, I would LOVE a spinoff Rorschach movie even if it was some crappy low budget movie. A lot of people would be mad though. I think they should make a prequel like they did with X-Men and make it bout Rorschach but they would have nothing to go on considering there is only one graphic novel about Watchmen :(

  • @ThatCoolGuyNamedMatt Which is bullshit.I always thought a sequal would be great. But so many people are against it.Its like so many people were talking shit about a sequal.Id love to see a sequal. But a prequal all about Rorschach? I smell emmy!!

  • @NessaMode I know... A lot of the people that dont wanna see sequels are prequels are freaks like me. Obsessed with the movie and GN. I mean Im not saying you havent read the GN or anything but still. I would love to see another movie from the Watchmen universe. As long as its done right!!!

  • @ThatCoolGuyNamedMatt EXACTLY.Atleast one prequal! If the guy who did Rorschach can make horror movie gold then he deserves his own movie dedicated to his character!

  • @emjayrodriguez Aint that funny. In watchmen hes a complete hero and in A Nightmare on Elm Street hes a villain.Thats a hard feat to get away with

  • how does rorschach's "face" keep changing

  • Read the graphic novel. You'll find answers to all of your questions about the movie.

  • sounds like the new freddy

  • thats because its the same guy, Jackie Earle Haley. just google it :)

  • Dear Jackie Earle, can you give Bale some tips on sounding threatening instead of having a mix asthma and lung cancer? Sincerely, The Batman Community.

  • haha!

  • Awesome Rorschach

  • lol at 2:48 those guy that were walking away din't hear him break that window..

  • @Californianboy626 he probly saw it, but knew better than to try and take him on lol

  • Comment removed

  • @wolfiekaynine hahahaha

  • That voice fits better on Rorschach than Batman. The dude that played Batman (Forgot his name. Could care less.) is so shitty the movie should've been called "The Joker" instead of "The Dark Knight"

  • I agree the the joker made the film. but I like both characters with the voice. On rorschach its hot, on batman its funny.

  • I just finished the comic book, *cough* excuse me, graphic novel, and I honestly think they did a wonderful job for the adaptation. It's nearly word for word dialogue and more than several scenes were completely identical. Great cast choice, too!

    ^_^ I love Watchmen.

  • rorschach sounds and acts like a Clint Eastwood character.

  • lols he reminds me of Clint Eastwood too for some reason, though a lot shorter :-)

  • i didnt like the adaptation...

  • Rorschach is badass.

  • @Beccalots goodass

  • @Beccalots you can give anyone a trench coat and a gravelly voice and call them a badass

  • hence why its called a movie, you can fit just so much from pages on to a 1 1/2 hour to 2 hour movie. how long did it take you to read all the comics that equal the movie? hours?days?weeks?

  • And that is the reason I should not have been done. Thank you for pointing it out for me. This might have worked as a mini series. It might have worked with a real director also. Hell they could have fit 30 extra minutes of the actual story in if they didn't fill it with slow motion. And a sex scene that was about 5 minutes long and is slow motion!

  • reason "it"should not

Before you turn this argument into a spelling contest I will correct myself.

  • spelling is the least of my worries. I got your point. I am not here to argue with you. I just find it to be a decent movie. Since the movie I have been very interested in the story. I find the movie to be an awesome movie, for what it is worth. No super hero movie like it and there never will be.

  • Brutality doesn't make a good film but most of the times if you hide brutal scenes you make the film worst!!!

We want to see scenes without feeling that the director is hidding things from us, or he is afraid of something!

So americans, stop saying that it wasn't necessary that much brutality on this film, because IT WAS! Snyder did the best he could and he gave us one of the best films ever made!!!!

  • lol I love how common ppl hated this movie cuz i didnt have enoough action for them if they took time to actually read the graphic novel theyd know what to expect. I'll be honest i hate 90% of American movie goers

  • And I hate people who generalize.

  • agreed

  • i have a friend who wont watch the movie cause "u see weiner in the movie"

  • Then your friend is a homophob. You see dick but its not straight up dick

  • Your friend is either a closet gay, or has a penis so small, he does not want to see another pensis as it would make him feel inadequate.

  • Directors cut is incredible

  • Apart from John Travola's acting or maybe just the way his character was written, I like'd the Thomas Jane version much more. The character was vengeful while still in away showing he had military background. Plus I just liked the way Jane played the character.

  • -_- brutality doesnt make a good film

  • It's just being loyal to the comic book/Novel.

Try seeing outside the lines.. Listen to Rorschach's rants... Pay attention to the storyline.. Read comics lol...

  • If you saw the comment i was responding to youd understand that I have

  • I agree with you. "The Punisher" felt a lot more brutal. Overall I like "Watchmen" better though.

  • I think Batman's voice is too forced, Rorschach's is much cooler.

  • christian Bale, possibly homosexual? Must remember to investigate further.

  • send a wolf to catch a wolf

  • the guys who are saying that rorshak is bad becuse he believes in killing bad men are frogeting the maby one of the most greatist words ever been told to mankind "he how trys to stop a monster must become a monster"

  • Yes, but could you at least learn to spell correctly? Nietzsche wrote, "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." When you quote the actual words, it takes on a whole new meaning, doesn't it?

  • Rorschach was the best person in the movie.

he reminded me of the punisher in a way.

I was mad when he got blown up by that blue man group wanna be!

  • you were MAD he chose death and stayed bad ass till the end? i dont know, that makes me respect him more.

  • i dont think he ment it like that, i think he just ment it sucked wen he died coz he was so awesome,

  • Thats exactally what I meant.

  • yeh i tottaly agree with you aha

  • you know everyone else in that movie didn't do shit. like i really wish that they could go off story and make a sequal and just pull some storyline out their ass

  • great movie

  • I can seriously relate to this guy, the underdog. a real hero., not the posey ponce type the real world type of hero. The uncompromising strength behind the mask. The gut and will, a man apart who still faces the end head on without question. That's how we should all be

    fearless

  • But he's also a sociopath who believes in killing criminals directly instead of going through the justice system.

Not that it's a bad thing, but I just wanted to point that out...

  • yeah youre right because real heroes don't accept the world the way it is.

  • Like the Punisher. Unyeilding, ever vigilant. Determined. The guile and raw spirit. He is what super heroes are afraid to become. He does evil in order to do good. He walks in both worlds.

  • Rorschach faced death like a man

  • I was so happy when I watched the movie and found that they kept Rorschach's line the exact same!! In the trailer it made it sound like they changed it... lol

  • i like rorschahs voice, its deep but clear prefer it over dark knights

  • I'll admit, I never knew much about Watchmen until I saw the movie. I F'N love it though. A bit of a masterpiece IMO. Definately going to buy and read the graphic novel. And Rorschach was by far my favorite character. I fealt like I had a connection with that character (take that how you will).

  • Apart from him being ultimate badass I really fancy his belives!

If you've raped a child or murdered someone innocent you also deserve to die ffs!

  • when rorchach died i wanted to burn the watchmen dvd....

  • same here! i nearly broke the tv!

  • I felt the same, when I was reading the comic book and saw the blood pile on the snow... ffs. I fucking love Rorschach

  • for all of you wondering about his mask it used to be a dress that manhatten made then rorscach got it and it changes to his emotions or mabey it was ozymandius i forgot i read the book 1 year ago

  • The answer is c - None of the above.

  • rorschach is small and skinny but is really strong.

  • no hes not

look at him when he's in jail

  • because that i say it. his not a big and imponent men.

  • Since I watched all the special features, whenever I see this scene the words "GREEN SCREEN" just spring to mind. Still love how crap his flashlight is :}

  • Rorschach is my favourite watchman

  • Perfect adaptation in film.

  • when villains have nightmares... it´s about Rorschach

  • chapter 6 page 10, "1962 speacial order for dress in new dr manhattan spinoff fabric. viscous fluids between two layers latex heat and pressure sensitive."

  • in the comic he works in a fabric store and an italian woman orders the a dress that changes colour to suit your body. it says its two different layers of fabric and in the middle theres ink

  • Ok, extremely stupid question i'm gonna ask, but in the movie it doesn't explain why his mask changes color like that. Is it supposed to be like the ink blot images to show his insanity?

  • Not really. The white and black represents his moral belief. Things are just good and evil, no shades of grey. In the comic, it sometimes expresses what he's feeling, Such as a question mark when he's confused.

If you've never read the comic, it's not really a stupid question.

  • Rorschach wears it because the woman who ordered it never picked it up, and she was raped and murdered outside her apartment while no one did anything. Some of them even watched. He wears it for the obvious reason, as well as to act as a reflection of the barbarism of humanity, and as a remembrance of injustice.

  • There is also the symbolism of the Rorschach inkblots. They are supposed to entice thought, in most cases, negative thoughts to help determine an aspect of negative emotion. As was already seen through Rorschach his miniature "therapy session"

They provoke a negative thought from whoever views the inkblot, and when a man looks at Walter's "face" before death, he may realise a horrible thing done in his past. Making his last dying memory, a bad one.

  • Yep, there's definitely that too, which is what I meant by "the obvious reason". ;)

I love all the layering in the character development.

  • I just love the fact that there is an origin within the mask itself. Making it just as much of a character as Rorschach himself.

  • i dunno if u saw the boondock saints but funny little note the intro to that movie they talk abt a woman named kitty genovese who was stabbed and raped while ppl watched and did nothing i just found it a coincidence both the movie and comic used the same name and example

  • did u kno that the kitty genovese story is actually true. it was 1964, shewas raped and stabbed and 13 witnesses to it did nothing but watch. it is now called genovese syndrome when witnesses to a crime do nothing to try and stop it. no joke

  • Comment removed

  • i didn't know that but thank u for sharing buddy always willing to learn somthing new

  • actually im pretty sure its called being a pussy and having no soul O_o

  • Yes, it is documented. In psychology, Kitty Genovese's case led to the concept of "bystander effect". Same thing.

On topic, Rorschach is definitely the best of the six Watchmen (close is the Comedian). Funny that I liked the sociopathic heroes the most. Their cynicism is actually quite realistic.

  • oh no! hes gonna kill that leather trenchcoat in the rain! :O

  • All those liberals... God! if just Tomas Reynolds could make it. Jack Devlin, Colonel Kudrow, and all those "bad" guys, they are just patriotic -and fictional characters- (sorry my eng.)

  • the guy who beats the comedian up for trying to rape silk spectre(the mom version i guess) wearing the black mask and a noose, hooded justice? and is he at all related to rorscach?

  • no but he did have a relationship with captain metropolis, and was the first costumed hero.

  • In the graphic novel Hooded Justice's identity is never truly known, there is however speculation on the part of the New Frontiersman that HJ is a former East German circus strong man named Rolf Müller, who vanished about the same time as Justice did. Now with HJ's known but not often spoken of homosexuality, i.e. relationship with Capt Metropolis, there is little chance that he is the related to Walter Kovacs a.k.a Rorschach, at least not as a biological father.

  • @DelaneyRoberts

we don't know if HG and CM really died. What if they faked their deaths?

There's a scene of Dan and Laurie in the reasturant. Two old gentlemen look like an older HG and CM.

  • No, Rorshach is his own thing entirely. Hooded Justice is more super-heroeish, I'd say, while Roarshach is much darker, and appeared years after the Minutemen were formed and fell apart.

  • Rorschach is in my opinion the best DC character of all time, and Jackie Earle Haley portrays this character very well In Watchmen which came out in 2009. Step aside Batman for Rorschach is a better character than you, that is what I think, I love how brutal Rorschach is and he is... I cant find any woards, but Rorschach is just an cool person and I don't like that he dies but he had to I guess. And all of the politicans will look up and shout (Save us) and I'll whisper...no!

  • Too bad Rorschach is dead, he would have been a really great blogger.

Rorschach's blog June 25, 2009 Today, a popstar died today. Somebody knows why. Somebody knows......

Roarscarch's blog July 29 2009 A pitchmen died yesterday. Nobody cares but me.

Rorschach's blog July 5, 2009 Watching Dreiberg's copy of Dark Knight left bad taste in mouth. Christian Bale, possibly homosexual? Must investigate further.

  • This is the best comment ever. Congratulations.

  • LMAO....that was brilliant...super funny.

i havent read the graphic novel/comic and only seen the film rorshach's character and voice is what made it interesting for me....but yeah ...MUST investigate christian bale's homosexuality...lolzzz.

  • It's the opposite for me, I've read the GN but haven't seen the movie! I didn't even hear of Watchmen until the trailers came out and fortunately Barnes and Noble displayed the book, read one page and became instantly hooked. I'm gonna read it a second time now that I have a grasp on the characters and going on a four hour road trip tomorrow XD

  • you sir made epic comment !

  • I just watched this movie again and realized a whole part of the sound got cut, probably because he said something about retarded children.

  • AWSOME thank you for this video!!^^

  • Rorschach is a prophet.

  • honestly its a insult to compare Rorschach to the joker Rorschach is a such a complex individual who does not contridict himself and a complete badass while joker is like his name says a clown .

  • I love the music to this scene at the start, especially 48, it almost personify's his sad violent exsistance.

    However u

  • psychotic yet awesome! he just thinks it all through doesnt he? O_O awed... and yet scared lol definitely the best of them (the characters of "watchmen")!

  • Who cares how you pronounce his name? Rorschach kicks ass ans Jackie Earle Haley deserves an Oscar for his awesome portrayal. It wouldn't be the first time an actor was awarded an Oscar for playing a supporting character in a graphic novel/comic book movie...

  • Haley SHOULD get an Oscar for playing Rorschach.

  • Rorschach vs The Joker, who would actually win?

  • rorschach would get so much rage he would go nuts you see joker can kill and win but he cant kill heros he always losses

  • I personally think Rorschach is the one hero the Joker would legitimately be scared of.

  • I mean, other than Batman of course.

  • He's not scared of Batman though.

  • Rorshach don't dick around. He'd kill Joker in a second!

  • Joker is smarter and an unpredictable fighter.

  • so is rorschach but the thing is rorschach will kill u in a second helll se all the bad that jokers done and hed be like ok ur dead

  • Joker would have a contingency for Rorschach probably. He would know Rorschach doesn't hold back and would be ready for him. After all, the villain chooses the arena, and The Joker would pick an area where Rorschach couldn't defend himself.

  • th8is is true but al in all it would be a pretty bad ass fight

  • And throw Deadpool into the mix and make it a party!

  • Comment removed

  • read the book bitches! and you'll know the cops pronounce his name as 'ror-shark'

  • i thought it was ro-shaq

  • if he was black then probably...lol

  • i heard at the beggining he says Ro-shak's journal.

  • his name is pronouce as 'ror-shark' not ror-shaq

  • rorschach is one of the underrated comic book heroes

  • vigilante, not hero.

  • hes still a hero

  • well, the only true hero among the "heroes" of watchmen.

  • I'd define him as either an anti-hero or a zealtros hero.

Because he's the only one who at the end refuses to cave in to Ozy's threat of what will happen if the world discovers it was him behind the explosions.

Rorschach knows that he is evil and therefor must be punished.

And his badass methods and willingness to do whatever necasery earns him the anti-hero title.

He's still my favorite character no matter what though.

  • I must disagree. Rorshach is the only charchter that does not compromise morality and in the end dies for his integreity. He is truly the most respectable of the watchmen for his understanding of absolute morality and his never ending persuit of justice

  • That's it, that's it exactly.

He's just also an aboslute badass while doing it.

  • Oh i agree completely, but it doesnt stop his story being really tragic.

  • Agreed. If one sells his beliefs on the brink of death, he doesn't truly believe in what he stands for, does he? Practice what you preach.

  • If one man dies for what he stands for, that man becomes a greater symbol than he could possibly alive, causing true difference. You are a fool to think what you typed. Look at people in history. Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., JFK. Rorschach never sold his beliefs, but he understood he couldn't stand up to Dr. Manhattan.

  • I don't think you understood what I typed. I was replying to someone's post about how Rorschach didn't compromise. What I said was just the opposite of what you thought I meant.

  • Ah, I see now, forgive my foolishness.

  • Why is an absolute sense of morality and justice an admirable thing? Isn't uncertainty in pursuit of truth much better? Rorschach has a black and white set of morals, and while his struggle to make the world a better place is indeed admirable, I think his what in the end makes him a sociopath is that he in fact doesn't compromise and doesn't question his own values.

As with religion, morality is a very uncertain and debated subject and seems to be a battle of reason vs. emotion. Be reasonable.

  • I supppose this is how a moral relativist and a moral objectiviest will differ on their perspective of Roorshack. And I wouldnt go implying someone is unreasonable due to a diffrent philosophical stance (although, some of them probably would merrit you saying that, but certainly not this one).

  • You're a moral objectivist then? Tell me, where do you think our morals come from?

  • Pardon, was the moral objectivist question pointed at me? If so, then no, I'm probably more of a pragmatist.

Just so you know, I do like Watchmen to a point. And I have read the graphic novel, I'm not sure if you doubted me or not. I didn't find the characters in "Watchmen" complex besides when they needed to be, to serve the plot. The same could be said for TDK, but there were subtleties in the way they acted and spoke and gestered to suggest internal consistancy. I'm going to ask you
