WOW... To all you Racist prople and people who dont like this vid.... Mastering is an art-form.. there are many ways to do it, and everyone is diffrent. It takes years of learning and trail and error to learn, and to get it right. As long as it sounds good in the end, thats all that matters. Im sure I would have negitive comments if you knew how I mastered my audio.. Cant please everyone...
@socialgrudge what a joke, someone makes a comment about this guys technic and then his is branded a racist. You are a joke get over yourself, this must be the way it is all over the globe, white people can't say a thing without being called a racist, but on the other side of the fence, it's ok for you to call a white man racist or cracker, etc etc. double standard society, take from one hand and bite the other. Wish you would grow up.
@gregbutcher1 First off, im WHITE... Second I was talking about the comments further down and on other pages... People have no respect by using the "N" word. Its not cool. I know people have diffrent opinions on MASTERING. I was just sayin, Lets leave RACE and the N word out of the conversation out of respect for this guy who took the time and shared what he knows, wether you agree with it or not.
I quickly noticed the negative ratings were exaggerated, and knew immediately why. It isn't the first time a black person is tutoring on Youtube to a bunch of ungrateful crackkkers.
If this guy new anything about music or sound in general, he would have never had anything to do with the track he was using to demonstrate his idea of "how to Master". That could be the wost recorded and performed track I ever heard. And as far as this guy professing to have decade old ears, if that's true he should be a truck driver's helper, and not any place where he mess with sound. But I bet he is a wonderful person, just in the wrong business!
thanks for sharing! but can someone tell me is it legal or illegal to remix a song. and if not, can I create exactly the same melody/beat of that song but with my own lyrics and language. is that too difficult or even possible. thanks in advance!
@CannedFunkMusic@Theshofumiah1 unofficial remixes are called bootlegs. you are allowed to create bootlegs, play your bootlegs out at events, and they can receive airtime on radio shows. it is however illegal to sell your bootleg or receive money for it in some form. if you want to sell your bootleg it needs to be signed by the original label and sold through that label.
@AnonymousPowerLevel If that's so then, wouldn't file sharing be legal? You still have a product distributed to the open public without the rights owners' permission. I could see if you RE-did the song and performed it or put it on youtube or whatnot. And by the way, why did you ask the question in the first place if you were going to challenge the answer? Sheesh.
And just to ask, when you say "remix" you mean taking the raw vocal and re-doing the music? Because that's about the only thing in that list that I could see getting away with. I did that with a MJ song but it was before he died.
@CannedFunkMusic sorry? it wasn't me who asked the question. what constitutes a remix is probably subjective. you should take a look at wikipedia. the information i've given you is what i have received from the labels themselves.
You're right, you must have good ears with all the resonance coming from your instruments in the back. Your ''mixing room'' has terrible reflections. Definitely, the most important thing before plug ins, console and everything else is a good room and good speakers. Just saying...
Those guitars and percusssions over on the left can and will add harmonics to the song while you are listening in that room. In other words when sound waves come out the speakers, they hit those instruments, create another sound and return to you, so the listener is never really hearing what's there. This will cause the engineer to add or remove things unnecessarily.
You know technically in the english language it should be pronounced Moe-no. For some reason it became Mon-no over the years. Like the word "defense" Because of football, we say "De-fence" but it's actually "Duh-fence".
I'm no pro but this guy is a pretender. Beginners his terminology will get you lost. Things like "pan opacity" and "bass everywhere" won't help you. "Phase correlation" and "low frequency mud" will. You'll see when you google.
Starting with 16 bit mixdown even though he says it's 24 bit? Someone didn't use their meters! (The big green one on the right before he plugs in the Q8)
Plugs in the L3 which has dither on by default and then dithers it again!?
@thebrokenchessboard Do you know how to mix and master? I have my own home studio but I still can't figure out how to do this mixing and mastering. Any suggestions will be greatly apprecaited. Thanks.
his last few lines of talking with a raised voice over that song sounds like a Denzel washington monologue. immediately following this video, that girl was disrobed and "signed to his label"
Take your fuckin tie off and unbutton your fuckin shirt just a little(no homo), let your blood flow aight, so not only to enable you to feel the music, but hear it as well. Ask me what the hell your tie has to do wit hearing the music.....I just fuckin said it even though it makes no sense. But, seriously I hope your not dress like that for a studio session lol,........
i would like to hear this guys work... if he even mixes in that room he works miracles and ab0ut mastering the songs.. i made the mistake of paying someone to do it 1 time and when i figured out that MASTERING IS NOT A HARD THING LIKE THEY MAKE IT SOUND i actually do it myself am a self taught sound engineer and i have worked with "PROFESSIONAL PRODUCERS" and they love my job so who ever tells you u need to go to school to know what to do tell them to fuck themselves and this dude dnt know shit
and once again the bullshit with the samplerates: 24bit/48khz is definetively bullshit. 24bit is ok, but if you want to change 48khz to 44.1khz the software has to round mathematically. and there is no appropriate divisor, so you end up with lots of errors because of rounding. always record in multiple integers of 44.1khz. then you can divide afterwards without getting into roundings, which never sound good. and all the real "pros" tell you the same ... get yourself a calculator.
I know squat about mastering, but I can hear the reflection of your voice off the walls in your room...how can you accurately use your ears to master with those reflections? You either want a room to sound great or be dead, dead dead, and yours is neither.
true you need a professional, that's why it takes months for a album too come out! they have to site there and listen to the same songs for like hours on end! yeah it takes time ,but it's fun has hell! lol
Mastering is an art in itself, it isnt sumthing u can put into a 8 min video.....people think its a simple little process done when u finish a song....it takes years of practice to master correctly, hence why most artists send their songs away to professionals....you wouldnt expect a chef to teach you everything about being a good chef in one video...any1 expecting to learn how to master from youtube videos shld just give up
That sounds like hammered dog pewp. Next time feed the signal from the DAW directly into the videos audio and on its own track. For Chist's sake man you are making an audio tutorial with soda can sound! WHAT WERE YOU THINKING WITH THAT SINGER?? ONE WORD, BUDDY: AUTOTUNE!
Utterly clueless. What was his name, Johnny No-mates?

@CannedFunkMusic @Theshofumiah1 unofficial remixes are called bootlegs. you are allowed to create bootlegs, play your bootlegs out at events, and they can receive airtime on radio shows. it is however illegal to sell your bootleg or receive money for it in some form. if you want to sell your bootleg it needs to be signed by the original label and sold through that label.
AnonymousPowerLevel 7 months ago
@AnonymousPowerLevel If that's so then, wouldn't file sharing be legal? You still have a product distributed to the open public without the rights owners' permission. I could see if you RE-did the song and performed it or put it on youtube or whatnot. And by the way, why did you ask the question in the first place if you were going to challenge the answer? Sheesh.
CannedFunkMusic 7 months ago
And just to ask, when you say "remix" you mean taking the raw vocal and re-doing the music? Because that's about the only thing in that list that I could see getting away with. I did that with a MJ song but it was before he died.
CannedFunkMusic 7 months ago
@CannedFunkMusic sorry? it wasn't me who asked the question. what constitutes a remix is probably subjective. you should take a look at wikipedia. the information i've given you is what i have received from the labels themselves.
AnonymousPowerLevel 7 months ago
WTF ???
If you can make that any more muddy than it already is, you're a fucking genius man.

You're right, you must have good ears with all the resonance coming from your instruments in the back. Your ''mixing room'' has terrible reflections. Definitely, the most important thing before plug ins, console and everything else is a good room and good speakers. Just saying...

you are the first engineer who makes mixing decisions "Even without the music playing " . Genius!
It also avoids you the pain of listening to your out-of-tune singer .....

Painting brick walls does not count as audio treatment.
petegiant 10 months ago 2
Those guitars and percusssions over on the left can and will add harmonics to the song while you are listening in that room. In other words when sound waves come out the speakers, they hit those instruments, create another sound and return to you, so the listener is never really hearing what's there. This will cause the engineer to add or remove things unnecessarily.
Drew46Hill 10 months ago 2
@Drew46Hill
was gonna say that myself. plus when he's talking, the room doesnt sound very good for a "studio".
not a room to be mixing or mastering in at all!
humancommunication 10 months ago
@humancommunication Actually, I wouldn't even rehearse in there. Not to be mean or anything but the room needs work.

MO NO is the best way to listen to this song.

Low-pass and high-pass so your bass and high frequencies aren't 'everywhere'. Does he really know what he's doing?. . . . . . Really?
MedikDubstep 10 months ago
You know technically in the english language it should be pronounced Moe-no. For some reason it became Mon-no over the years. Like the word "defense" Because of football, we say "De-fence" but it's actually "Duh-fence".

MindstormRecs 10 months ago 2
I'm no pro but this guy is a pretender. Beginners his terminology will get you lost. Things like "pan opacity" and "bass everywhere" won't help you. "Phase correlation" and "low frequency mud" will. You'll see when you google.
Starting with 16 bit mixdown even though he says it's 24 bit? Someone didn't use their meters! (The big green one on the right before he plugs in the Q8)
Plugs in the L3 which has dither on by default and then dithers it again!?
Ugh! Too much to say not enough space!

i would like to hear this guys work... if he even mixes in that room he works miracles and ab0ut mastering the songs.. i made the mistake of paying someone to do it 1 time and when i figured out that MASTERING IS NOT A HARD THING LIKE THEY MAKE IT SOUND i actually do it myself am a self taught sound engineer and i have worked with "PROFESSIONAL PRODUCERS" and they love my job so who ever tells you u need to go to school to know what to do tell them to fuck themselves and this dude dnt know shit
yasiiel914 11 months ago
and once again the bullshit with the samplerates: 24bit/48khz is definetively bullshit. 24bit is ok, but if you want to change 48khz to 44.1khz the software has to round mathematically. and there is no appropriate divisor, so you end up with lots of errors because of rounding. always record in multiple integers of 44.1khz. then you can divide afterwards without getting into roundings, which never sound good. and all the real "pros" tell you the same ... get yourself a calculator.
whiteaxxxe 11 months ago
I know squat about mastering, but I can hear the reflection of your voice off the walls in your room...how can you accurately use your ears to master with those reflections? You either want a room to sound great or be dead, dead dead, and yours is neither.
Dampen that room
ControveryRising 11 months ago
i heard that Pro Tools suck. about mastering software i would choose the Izotope Ozone instead of wave Lab
