Nice idea. Although this is a renewable energy source and makes clean energy. What happens when the sun goes in? Hydrogen engines are the future, using the most abundant element in the universe hydrogen; with only water as an emission.

You combine solar power to create the hydrogen gas and I think your completely self sufficient.

Hydrogen is only an energy carrier, however, just like electricity. To separate the hydrogen from the oxygen in water, it requires energy. You get this energy back (with some loss) when you recombine it with the oxygen. Hydrogen is unfortunately cumbersome and very difficult to transport. The technology has a lot of maturing to do.
