  • It brings a tear to my eye that I have a hunch that Christoph Waltz is going to be robbed his Oscar come that day.

  • This movie was a blast for me,the whole time my eyes were glued to the screen. However enjoyable,it was just that, I felt the movie didnt really leave me with much of an impression,I don't think it broke any barriers, and really,i dont think its meant to be anthing more than a good time..to put it frankly,I think Pulp Fiction kicks this film's ass.I was a little disappointed with how the 2 stories finally came together, expecting something genius.. you should definitely not take away the ramones.

  • The Ramones aren't going anywhere.

  • one of your best reviews. I would lose the annoying music you play at the beginning of your reviews though...always gives me a headache..

  • I feel the same about Tarantino, but I think I just hate his personality in real life mostly. Oh wellz, I still enjoy most of his movies, I think I'm gonna see this tomorrow.

Don't kill me, but you remind me of Dawson from Dawson's Creek..

  • Also, around 6:17 you say Nazi-occupied Germany, it was actually Nazi-occupied France. And most if not all of the film took place in France.

  • Thanks for the correction.

  • Glad to help.

  • Agreed: Christoph Waltz was amazing.

  • great review man!

You've convinced me to go see it :)

btw, should i take my girlfriend to this? or is it more one for the guys?

  • It's not a total "guy movie" but there is a bit of graphic violence. I'd recommend it to just about anyone who is of age to see it.

  • I'm going to see this tonight. :)

  • This movie has the best cinematography of any Tarantino movie but it was hard to focus on what was happening on the screen when I had to read subtitles. Well at least the Germans didn't have English accents like in Valkyrie.

  • your comment about reading the subtitles and it losing a little of the "Tarantino pop" is sooo true, I never really thought of it like that! But that being said, I'm sooo glad he used French and German instead of having the entire film in English...it's bold and it's brilliant. I also love the last line and it's metaphorical implications. winky wink. We pretty much agree, I just think I liked it more! Don't know if it had to do with the fact that QT was there though! LOL

  • Yeah, it's a bold choice to do it all those languages. Ballsy stuff that only someone like Quentin Tarantino could get away with or even be allowed to attempt. The winky, winky ending is 100% Tarantino speaking through Aldo Raine but I think it totally works when your film is of this caliber.

  • agreed, good sir. agreed. Thursday's discush will be epic.

  • You live near Seattle?!

    I live up in Everett!

  • I'm in Olympia!

  • Awesome!

    Washington is the best!

  • if you like rain. alot.

    lol, i'm in WA too.

  • i saw it this morning and he did something that i haven't seen him do which it building suspense. i mean the whole time during once upon a time i was setting on my chair with my heart beating like crazy. i could feel how nervous people were during the movie i also loved the actions scene. it wasn't a glorification of violence rather than what a real gun fight is, short and leaving you scared and wondering what the fuck happened.

  • i am glad he used different languages, it makes it so fake when everyone speaks english

  • I didn't have as many reservations about it as you. I loved it. I think it still has that "crackle" even with the subtitles. You get it from their tone and expressions. I think it wouldn't be as good in all english. Also, i have no problem with it not taking place in the real world, it works as a fantasy. You're right about Brad Pitt, not being Waltz equal, but I think that expectation comes more from the way the film is being marketed. In my review, I gave it a ten out of ten.

  • Death Proof is Tarantino's worst film. If you enjoyed DP, I can't imagine how you will react to Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs.

  • I loved death proof, never saw kill bill. Death Proof blew me away. The talking builds your attachment to the characters and makes the ending much better than it would have been if it would have happened fast.

  • your vids are great.

    your a really good reviewer.

    keep it up

  • Good review. thank god Im not the only on who doesnt love Tarantino. I only liked his first few movies. I might have to give this one a chance though.

  • well, i've read both pulp fiction and reservoir dogs. Reading PF you really are thinking "I want to hear this dialogue spoken, it should be heard live." Whereas RD reads just fine, like a play. I totally agree its ballsy to put all these other languages in our face, so to speak, when in we are so used to this sort of America-centric cinema. Hats off. :)
