There is such thing as the gift of speaking in tongues, but it is not unintelligible gibberish. It is speaking in REAL languages. It is the ability to communicate in a different language by the power of the Holy Spirit to other people who do not understand your native language. In other words, if you speak English and are trying to preach the gospel to French, you are able to speak in French to your audience...and this is how the gospel is communicated to them.
