  • I saw this show in New York and it was tremendous! I'm going to see it again in February.

I could care less that it was or wasn't faithful to the original recording. What I cared about was seeing these guys and envisioning the originals at the height of their powers.

    Incredible show!

P.S. I saw Elvis in concert in 1971 and had seen Jerry Lee Lewis and Johnny Cash in concert

As well as Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Fats Donmino, Rick Nelson and Bo Diddley

SEE THIS SHOW TO ENJOY THE MUSIC!

  • I saw the tour last night here in Tampa, I think the tour company was better..IMO....

  • @princesstna925 tour companies are usually better. They know that for most of the audience they are seeing a broadway musical for the first time and they want to make the night memorable. The casts on Broadway though tend to treat what they are doing as a job, a fun job, but a job nonetheless.

  • oh the incompetence!.... it burns.

  • Love Levi Kreis from Million Dollar Quartet on Broadway? Come and see him at the El Portal Theatre in Sam Harris and Friends on New Year's Eve!

  • This play has Jerry Lee as the main man. Far from it. Listen to the real deal and Elvis clearly leads it all the way through. This production puts JLL as the star. He was in the backgound singing harmony keeping up with Elvis.. I just listened to it recently on Sirius Elvis radio, and I own the CD. Had Elvis not walked in that day, there would have been no Million Dollar Quartet. I have no interest in this recontructed mish mash.

  • Is it just my computer, or is youtube being slower when it comes to loading videos?

  • yeah and the sound technicians didn't mess this up at all

  • i just saw this in Rochester. I am quite young and adore these guys. No male "soul" singer would be anywhere without all of them

  • OH MY GOD i didnt even know half of the songs in this show and i loved it

    so good

  • i never like this show... but it's better than american idiot!

  • "Party"' by Elvis Presley came out in 1957 in the movie Loving You. "Whole Lotta Shakin'" came out in 1957 as well. The MDQ sessions were in 1956. Someone did not do their research. Why isn't Carl Perkins performing "Blue Suede Shoes"? That is the theme song of the musical. The Gibson Les Paul Goldtop played by Carl Perkins is a great touch though. That is the guitar he used to record "Blue Suede Shoes" on Sun in 1955. He also appeared in the movie Jamboree playing it in 1957.

  • @kingoma61 Yeah, a lot of the songs they do in the show wasn't in the actual session. I mean they did Down by the Riverside in the show but there were a lot of other great gospel songs they did. I guess they just felt they had to add different songs to make it more entertaining for the viewers who had never heard about this historic session.

  • @flemingtonzsf Who did you see? I saw David Abeles as Jerry Lee back in March, and he was freaking amazing! - 3

  • Its kinda funny..... I remember seeing the Tony's last year and seeing this and going ".......WHAT....was THAT?" Like..... That looks incredibly stupid. I forgot all about it, and in April I went to NYC and we ended up with last minuet (and AMAZING) tickets. Needless to say.... I'm obsessed. And I didn't realize that it was the same show until now :)

  • awesome show!!!!!!!!

  • I saw this on Broadway yesterday, best ever!!!

  • i saw this on broadway over winter break....wow they were sooo good

  • Half of these views are from me.

  • esto esta super... me gusta mucho el cuarte del millon de $

  • Well this was a whole lot of fun :)

  • Johnny cash only stayed there for about 10 min.to pick up a roalty check

  • saw this today im 19 and dont enjoy plays much but the performence i saw today gave me chills "kick ass" is right

  • I WANT TO SEE IT!!! HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!

  • Saw this in NYC......Best ever!

  • @swkccr me too!!!!

  • I SAW IT LAST WEEK-END ON BROADWAY "KICK ASS"

EVEN, MY CHILDREN LOVE IT !

    AL.

  • a great broadway show

  • Different music and R & R icons but a little too close for comfort as a "Jersey Boys" knockoff.

  • I saw this show two nights ago and it was FABULOUS!!!!! I sat front row, center/center and Elvis gave me his scarf!

The singing, the energy, the story....it was AMAZING!!!!!

  • @frankydman: the real Jerry Lee Lewis will be at the show in New York on September 10th, I believe. I assumed we'll find out then, if he hasn't seen it already.

  • "Sam Phillips earned the name the Father of Rock and Roll."

WRONG WRONG WRONG! The Father of Rock and Roll is Bill Haley; and he earned that title when "Rock Around the Clock" hit number one on the music charts on July 9, 1955. this event marked the beginning of the Age of Rock and Roll

Why he said that, I will never know...

  • @frankydman Nope im pretty sure it belongs to Sam. Sam was the first to record white boys singing blacks music. Note that he was the FIRST to do it, nobody else took a chance on them but Sam. Bill just followed even if his song was no. 1, he sang what was considered black music, but he wasnt the first, but Bill Haley probably popularized RnR more than Elvis, Jerry Lee, Carl, etc, at the time anything recorded at Sun wasnt heard outside of Memphis and Rock around the clock was heard everywhere

  • @someone481

    I quote my source:

"After the record [Rock Around the Clock] quickly rose to number 1 [Following it's use in the movie "Blackboard Jungle"], Haley was quickly given the title "Father of Rock and Roll" by the media and by teenagers who had come to embrace the new style of music."

  • @frankydman yes I understand, but Bill Haley popularized it, Sam Philips started Rock n Roll, therefore he deserves more credit then just one of the many singers from that era

  • I wonder what Jerry Lee Lewis (The only living member of the Million Dollar Quartet) would think of this musical...

  • @frankydman

Probably likes it. seeing as he is performing at the theater the show is at beforei it goes on.

  • @trec1080

Really? I'd like to see a video of that

  • @frankydman I was at the performance that Jerry Lee Lewis performed at. He obviously likes it enough to attend and participate in it. He was fantastic! It was really exciting to see him. He performed 3 songs at the end of the show and it was such a pleasure to have been there.

  • @bellacullen01

    Let me guess:

Great Balls of Fire, Whole Lotta Shakin going on and one other song

  • The Tonys have always had problems with sound!!!! You would think in New York City they would have awesome techies but it seems like their sound is always having problems. It's a great performance, I just wish we could fully enjoy it, without it cutting out. Blah to sound people!

  • Love the guitarist standing on the bass fiddle at the end - very fun

  • awesome!

  • Comment removed

  • what songs do they do??

  • @jpgrfan101 at the begining they sing "down by the riverside" then "let's have

a party" and at the end it's "whole lotta shakin' goin on"

  • @MisterA41 Thanks!! I really like the last one but i didn't know what it was lol :DD

  • Doesn't Levi look alot like Harry Connick Jr?

  • @blackironkatana Yes he does!

  • How is Levi so amazing???!!!!

  • this show is my absolute favorite =)

  • Levi Kreis is amazing.

  • Tony awards was a fucking fail

  • So is your mom@hurbaga

  • @SNITSINC that was my opinion ..

i meant the show not the people that performed ..

i mean the sound was off sometimes also alot of presenters failed .

for example 1:55 the guy who does Elvis he's mic doesn't work ..

  • @hurbaga la cage aux folles is the only wonderful performance i saw... the nominated musicals sucks except for la cage aux folles! the addams family and chicago should have been nominated!!!

  • @ayah3688 CHICAGO was nominated-and won-for Best Revival back in 1997. Shows can only be nominated for a Tony during their first year on Broadway. As for THE ADDAMS FAMILY, all I can say is it got bombed by every major critic and most of the people who see it say it's terrible. Are you possibly a Bebe Neurith fan, since she starred in both OBCs? And LA CAGE was good-but it's a revival and so had to be nominated in that category.

  • Being a fan of every single one of these legends, THAT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!

  • @blackironkatana I agree completely!!!
