CHICAGO (Reuters) - Proposed revisions to a U.S. Roman Catholic Church charter that addresses the sexual abuse of children by priests are insignificant and fail to address church cover-ups, critics said on Tuesday.

Members of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests demonstrated outside church offices in Chicago to protest the draft of the planned revisions to the church's 2002 Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People.

"Unfortunately, like almost everything the hierarchy does on abuse, there are no penalties whatsoever for ignoring or concealing child sex crimes," Clohessy said following the protest. @crankatorium you have a misconception. priests are not infallible. it is the pope and that applies only to certain circumstances when he speaks ex cathedra, for the entire faithful to follow. priests by themselves can commit mistakes (that's why you pray for them) the priests and bishops may commit mistakes and for that reason, there are councils to be held like the Council of Nicanea etc.Councils like that are binding. the pope and priests can sin, they are not exempted from that.

In many European Countries couples are not having enough children to replace the population and can lead to budget crisis since the limited amount of young people can't replinish the workforce and there is no money to support that many elderly in Europe because of less young people as taxpayers the whole Entitlement society or "Social Security" will in the future fail. @mysticalroz It is unfair for devout Catholics to be called non-religious because they support the passage of RH Bill. The Philippines will always be a Catholic country, but excommunication of pro-RH Bill Catholics is not the way to go.
