There's no shortage of energy on this planet. Algae alone can give 20,000 gallons per acre per year. Jaguar have 3 litre diesel engines that do 40 mpg - get yourself an acre and some algae growers - diesel is the future and diesel engines are the machines of the immediate future.

It's also getting easier and easier to liberate hydrogen out of water using very simple electrode technology ...

Hazelnuts are the best nuts, tonnes available in the forest. there are tonnes of real delicious wild food for free around(its coming fast now) But really watch out, there are some plants that have killing similar ones. Eat it raw in small amounts first, even if u re sure its edible. If u made a mistake u will be sick but not dead. If u eat it raw in small amounts ur instinct warns you if the taste is horrible dont eat it. I will be able to live from gathering alone by may or june.

yea but the way are trying to go about it is the issue. It comes down to trusting the people behind the wheel. Yea some stocks are cheap.......if youre a long term invester(more than 10 years). How can you save money if investing for the long run when youre out of work and mear homeless or allready on the street. Way to many bad variables in this equation for me. Home prices are still faling unemployment is going up prices on food and gas up up up. saving is not even in the eqiation for 95%

Investing in stocks revolves around dividends...and NOT speculation. If you buy a stock you should be comfortable NEVER selling it and passing the stock along with the dividends to your children.

SAVING is not lost on the Chinese, Japanese, Germans, French......ah but Americans are clueless about the importance of saving. Want to save your wealth? Buy gold....simple.

Ya, we've got great battery technology but we also have the ability to power a lane or two of the freeway so that once the electric car is on that lane it doesn't have to depend on battery power. It could be a simple metal contact in the middle of the lane or it could be that magnetic induction thing that was being developed back in the mid 70's sometime.

if everything collapses what kind of future can we expect...? i dont believe that there exists technology that can substitute oil...

people might start to understand that materialistic way of living is pointless....

what if depopulation is unavoidable? what if people start to kill each other when when we run out of resources necessary for living ... what if this crisis is leading to hell ... people can easily rationalize most horrible crimes ....

Yes the depopulation situation could happen. It's happened before. History is full of examples where people turned on each other Rwanda is only the most recent. That's why I think good thoughts but I also own firearms and lots of ammo. I'm cautiously optimistic about the change though. I think we can transition to a much less wasteful society. The number of people working on the problem increases every day.

With current technology the country could totally end importing foreign oil. We'd just need more motorcycles and bicycles with gasoline engines salvaged from lawn mowers. People won't need their lawn mowers anyway since their yards will be planted in potatoes rather soon.

I have both a 60mph 80mpg scooter and a bicycle with an electric motor. I commute with both when the weather is warm but I'm ready to use them in winter one gas gets expensive.
