Robotnik is a surname. Dr. Eggman is Dr. Robotnik's alias. In Japan the fat guy in this game is called Eggman, so technically Eggman has always been around. If you want proof, check out Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Wing Fortress Zone. Logos around the plane say "Eggman" or have a hexagonal logo made up of the letters "EG".

Actually, at 3:47, if you have 50 rings, you will go to an upper route. If you had asking "How can I enter on the bottom route" in the almost finishing, like BCJ1985 said, Scrap Brain Zone Act 2 is a loop level, that part is from the top route.

Hey, anyone know how to take the secret path in Scrap Brain Act 2? Near the end of the act there is a door on the left that you can't go in as it is an exit from a path I have never reached without debug mode.

I did see somebody use debug to do it, and what they did was gave themselves 50 rings before entering the transporter. But it may have also been the time, since debug mode messes with the time as well.

Are you talking about the door seen at 4:48 in this video? That's the exit from the top route. The reason it now appears beneath the bottom route is because Scrap Brain act 2 is a loop level - no bottomless pit - if you go off the bottom of the screen you essentially appear at the top and vice versa.

@Rickstilwell1 You need at least 50 Rings. But be careful not to get attacked, as it is tough to dodge all enemies and obstacles, and you will most likely fail to reach that secret area.

@jomar500 ah I finally did it a while back. the other secret path I always wondered about was the alternate way to the exit in Labyrinth Zone 1 where you have to go back to the top of the water after pressing the button underwater and ride the platform. Most people don't think to go back up and instead they press the switch and go right.

Actually, no, I'm not liek the mindless fanboys. From the start I knew Shadow the Hedgehog was a bad idea. Sonic 06 HAD promise, but as usual, Sonic Team screwed it up big time! Dimps is working on the Wii version of Sonic Unleashed... so that's a good sign so far. Note I said so far... Sonic Team might screw it up by throwing in invisible walls and tons of glitches!
