Half these movies sucked major ass and the other half were medocre at most if you talk about "black" movies i hope you mean films like to kill a mokingbird, persuit of happiness, boys n the hood, and the shawshank redemption not any tyler perry piece of shit
Black is smart, Black is powerful, most of all Beatiful. It is good to watch black movies to learn what our people been through and what we must do now to make things better..now i used to get mad at the lyching part but now i don't i just use the most important weapon that fear the white man and thats education!
when we were kings is a ood documentry/movie, the first time i watched it was this year (2011) and i lurrveed it the title of the movie is vey meaningful
is black cobra even black-politation as it's ITALIAN? Black Cobra has links to this page and was puzzeled. I thought that referred to American black film that is based solely one stereotypes and exploitation.
@jumppack1 They already did, it was called the AFI's 100 best movies of all time and had nothing but white movies. Thanks for increasing my page views though!
@jumppack1 Your commentary is awesome. AFI's 100 best movies LOL priceless! I think its hilarious when a group that stole people and brought them to a country where a lot of them were actually inhabitants (find out the true origin of the word AMERICA Amer=moors of Africa) have the nerve to use the word hypocrisy. It's hilarious!
@jumppack1 loooool get lost dude ! .. "white movies" my ass .. why are u even talkin about white movies?? cant u read??? omg .. i hate ppl like you! piss me off! you always ruin my day! shiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiit
@jumppack1 The reason you have a 100 greatest black movie list is the same reason you have a greatest gangster movie list or greatest latino movie list or greatest chinese cinema list. its about culture. having a black movie list is basically saying whats the best movies to come out of the black community. would it be sexiest to have a movie list about women movies? when your a minority you tend to view things through the eyes of your community. so its not hypocrisy.
@jumppack1 and the same reason there is a BET television station is because black entertainment has always been told through the eyes of white people. thats why black models werent allowed on magazine covers until the mid to late 80s. thats why michael jackson and prince videos didnt get played on mtv in the early 80s. thats why black actors struggled and found it hard to find movie roles until the 90s. that why BET was created to acknowledge and celebrate black achievement when no one else did

@123dawut First song is "Heatwave" by Martha & the Vandellas. Second song is "Summer's End" by Elmer Bernstein from the "To Kill A Mockingbird" soundtrack. Third song is "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" by Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell.
Just randomly heard about this movie today and I'm amazed i never knew about it before...anyway, tried to find a copy of it but seems it was never released on dvd, any chance of seeing/buying it somewhere?
@GETOSUPASTAR Not at the moment, unfortunately. May have more on that soon. Check out the Urban Film Festival in Kansas City in September for a chance to screen it, as well as our other "Best Black Movies" documentaries. Thanks for your interest.
i need help.. i've been searching for the name of a movie i watched a while back..
i can't remember who i features, but i know there are like four guys, and one of the is getting married. they then reminisce about the past. for some reason, the name stacey comes to mind. i know, not much to go by.. but holler at me if you can think of anything please. it was a great black movie. probably 90s.
1961's a raisin in the sun... for my money the best in blk. cinema... color purple precious stormy weather shaft, don't laugh great film a soldiers story Malcolm X dreamgirls eve's bayou boyz in the hood houseparty these just off the top of my head....
More or less...it's an independently produced documentary. It pops up here and there. Check out the new doc, "Our Heroes" coming February, '09. If we ever get a budget or distribution, I'll post here how you can get a copy.
Not yet, unfortunately. If you're, like, crazy-super into it, and you'll promise to show it to all your friends, and make sure they watch the trailer for "Our Heroes," I could talk to our producer and see if I can send you a private screener....

Hope that helps!
