Scion isn't just selling a car, they are trying to sell a culture. Just like most M3 owners who never ever taken their cars to a race track, not all scion owners will modify their cars. I am a proud owner of a scion tc ( the car was never marketed as a performance auto). The tC is my daily driver and so far i have put 55,000 miles on the thing without a single problem. For under $20,000K the car is a bargain. Compared to many other cars in its class the tc is very good.

what i dont really get is that scion is trying to sell their cars. but unlike most companies they are trying to sell their cars based off of what the car COULD be. ive been in a scion tc and its really not very nice. its all cheap plastic. and its by no means a preformance car. even with that crap supercharge upgrade. lets face it how many scions have you seen that look as nice as those? ive seen 2 in the chicago area. most people leave them stock. imho this was a bad move for scion.

The Chicago area is one of the more popular areas in the country for Scions. And, Kingpin is right, its about the culture, the sense of family, etc. Again, if you were in the scene you would understand. I have been for over 3 years and I have made some lifelong friends just from a car.

It's understandable if you don't like the car, but can we at least stick to obvious facts? Like the fact that this car is actually very great for the price that it is. And that this car is made by Toyota, one of the highest quality car manufactures in the world. And that it actually is a performance car, having a stock 160 hp for a 4 cylinder, as well as 160 foot lbs of torque. It's a very nice car, despite opinions.

Define better...your definition appears to be "newer" my 14 year old V8 Camaro will stomp all over your Scion tc (even if you get all your bolt-ons) in the 1/4 mile and at the circuit. As far as appearance that's all opinion, in my opinion (and those others that matter to me) FBODYs are great looking cars. Any car has potential you idiot, it's the mod selection you choose. Of course there are TCs out there that would beat me (as you said, the same could be said of many cars) but I haven't pulled up on one yet. "Stock for stock" is not a question when you talk about Camaro/FBODY vs Scion TC, the TC has to be modified to even run with a stock LS1 or a stock LT1 (talking about 1/4 mile and circuit performance).

Who says my Camaro doesn't have any custom work done? It has custom performance parts just not custom paint/body kit/low pro wheels (stuff that doesn't matter for performance).

Enjoy your cars that require more work to run the same/lesser number whatever works. Commercial is still lame...

Advan wheels (lightweight) reduce rotational mass. Low profiles reduce sidewall flexing, Bodykit, depending on what you are talking about...example, Rado's widebody flares allow for massive 285 wide slicks on all four corners of his tC. Bro, I KNOW about performance.

All tC's are not just bolt-ons bro. And there are some (including mine) that would run with your camaro. As well as some that would show you what the tail lights look like (including my boys). You prefer to start out with decent HP. Don't knock on others because they would rather wrench and build something out of lesser of a car (HP wise).

It's ok if you haven't been paying much attention to what performance records the tC has broken/held. There are some in case you didn't know. What car ISN'T slow from the factory? Unless you paid like $70k for a car from the factory, pretty sure it's slow by most peoples standards. Scion's are in expensive, but are not cheap in the since of low quality. It's a Toyota remember. Reliablity is a strong point.
