Shit im getting old, i remember when they stopped at my church 13-16 years ago. my old youth minister asked them to stop by for a show when they were shane and caleb.
Wow...when you really stop and listen to the words - the prayer that they are praying in this song. "Make me the Breath of God, and show them the One that means that much to me" Such simple words - but so profound. Lord, make me Your Instrument and use me for YOUR glory. Amen
They don't play like this anymore though. Shane Barnard got concerned about people focusing too much on the way he played, instead of the words they were trying to communicate. That's the reason in their newer stuff, like Embracing Accusations for instance, the playing style is a lot simpler, and the message more of a focus. To me, I have been playing guitar for 12 years, and his newer stuff is far easier to play than the old like this, and Rocks won't Cry.
they sure look like taylors to me. i know that taylors and beedloves are similar-but you can pretty much read the word taylor on the headstock. the guitar between the two of them is definitely a breedlove. you can see the difference between the two headstocks
These vids are quite early on. Shane B didn't have his hands on a breedlove back then. These ones read like martin's tho, with the scroll like script written across. Shane E's looks like a taylor tho.
Isa 61:3 to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified.
Just a question: I don't speak english very well...Why do they sing (many times in this song) "...the very one that died upon the tree" and not the cross?
It is just a question, it is my fault if I know very few english ;) God forgive me :p
The word "tree" refers to the cross. In the prophecies in the old testament, the word "tree" is used instead. I hope that answers your question, hahah
Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, [was there] the tree of life, which bare twelve [manner of] fruits, [and] yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree [were] for the healing of the nations.
Rev 22:14 Blessed [are] they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
I love your music...I hope to only work with guys like you on my songs!

Got any idea what type of guitar and amp they are using?
st8player37 3 years ago
Breedlove guitars through whatever PA system the coffeehouse has. They aren't using personal amplifiers.

Shane B's is a Martin, Shane E's is a Taylor, and Barnard's Breedlove is in between.

Yes, the tree is the cross....
but to answer someone ? another tree verse is:
This whole chapter is GREAT!-Isa61-
Isa 61:3 to appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them a garland for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they may be called trees of righteousness, the planting of Jehovah, that he may be glorified.

I love both of their playing... but Shane B seriously needs to use a better pickup. There's a crazy amount of transducer quack on his line.
Still, you can't fault the gear for letting down the artist. An amazing song regardless.

Tree, where else have we heard of Trees?
Rev 22:2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, [was there] the tree of life, which bare twelve [manner of] fruits, [and] yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree [were] for the healing of the nations.
