still's personally paid millions to take this on tour.
i was playing the down the road lp one night when paul harris passed by my room, heard it and knocked. he said he had never had such a good time in his life and sat down to listen to the lp.
american children making it hard to look them in the eye.
i met fuzzy samuels the bass player when i was 18 when he was playin for alvin lee ,, smoke some weed on the bus and followed the around the midwest ,,, what a guy ,,, got to know alvin ,, one of my biggest guitar influances
Rick Roberts of the great and underrated (yes, and drug/alcohol-addled) band, Firefall, was the primary writer of this terrific song. Check out their version on YouTube. My guess is you'll like it much more.
@boblpage I heard the Firefall version first and didn't realize that there was another version by Manassas. The same title and same tune, but two totally different songs. I really like both of them though.
this song as well as many still stands after all this years, fresh, beautiful, sonic wisdom. love...& yes Stills, Hillman & all the other players here, superb. Tasty indeed.
WOW! I havent seen this since I was a teenager. Brings back good memories I was living in Germany from 70-75 and remember seeing this on TV. It made a big impression on me then and actually started me on my avocation-- guitar playing! Thanks for posting this.
"Best band Stills ever had. " -- Chris Hillman. Every song on the album is a gem. Who puts together these instruments anymore in one band and writes with this kind of range? Thanks so much for posting.
Super live performance. 1972 -- who knew? These guys are good, it has technical excellence and the energy of a new band. It's great to see Stills and Hillman together, two pioneers who were there from the beginning.
@OldSteamer When you say under rated, d'you mean you liked it but not many others did? Brand loyalty is great but ratings are stats. I'm of the minority....have all of Stephens' albums, all of Daves' stuff..all of Daves' and Grahams' stuff and all of Davids', Stephens' and Grahams' stuff, Can't stand that Young bloke with all his whining. Yay the minority and the under rated
maybe Im crying

I hope I'm not the only Sonic fan here, but either way, love this song, just like I love Crush 40's!

Listen to that White Falcon sing ! Stills was the only guitarist I've seen use Gretsch guitars and achieve so many different sounds.

I saw them live in 72 and they really were this good. One of the best live bands I've seen.

I truly believe Stephen Stills took it up a notch when he helped produce an excellent version of this song on the "Firefall" debut album.
