  • Fight the Power!

  • THE BEST!!!

  • Another #1 hit for The Godfather of Soul on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 230th #1 R&B song of the Rock Era. It also hit #15 on the Top 40 charts.

  • @mkl62 - It also hit #1 on WABC Radio 77's Music Power Survey in summer 1971.

As for this tune (I also second the opinions of those who favor this over his Polydor re-recording), it was (at least according to the notes of the "Make It Funky" compilation) laid down at the Starday studios in Nashville.

  • Thumbs up if you have "Hot Pants"

  • Tune! 2nd best JB track to Funky Drummer. God bless him. Had the pleasure of seeing him live on his 7 decades of funk tour just before he passed away, what a performer!

  • I always like this, the original, King Records, version of Hot Pants best. The first Hot Pants album version was re-recorded faster for his then new Polydor Records contract.
