I have seen Mr Luther Allison in Paris in the 1994 he was playing at les Petite journal Montparnasse , He was down to heart, come to sing at my table and sign is Cd for me i truly miss him i have seen him 6 months before he past R.I.P!!
"All I could do was spend your money...." Hee Hee. That's pitiful, but I guess she kept giving up the money to him. Sounds like a case for Judge Joe Brown.
gosh my great uncle what one of the best blues singer ever(not bragging) my great grandfather was his brother and told all of the my family who uncle luther was, sadly he died when i was almost two years old :( but im VERY VERY PROUD OF HIM. :)
@mjgrrl you should be VERY proud. I saw your uncle many times and each time I saw him he was better and better. saw him on both the north side and south side of Chicago
@firechiefmike10 that is awesome, you're lucky you got to see him, i never knew we had a famous relative until i was like 8. i just wish i got to see him perform. when did you see him? :)
such energetic blues! Luther is who I've always imagined Jimi Hendrix would be like if he was more into blues than rock (not just coz of the tongue-play). My deepest love and respect to the incomparable Luther Allison.
For me Luther is the greatest bluesman ever ! During more than 10 years I never missed his concerts.
After 2 hours of "normal concert" came usually 2 more hours of extra.
He liked to walk around in the public, followed by his roadie.
Pls look for "Freedom" and "The Sky is Crying" with Michel Carras at the piano: CD "Live in Montreux - Where Have you been ?" produced by Ruf Records, No 10347 10082) - LIVE !!!
Thank you Luther for all the great hours with you !!!
Yes, Allison was a very good singer and guitarist. He had charisma and his concerts were longer than most others. I liked him very much and miss him. Swedish fan.

This is what Wilson Pickett would've sounded like if he did the blues.
Maybe Wilson and Luther were the same guy. Just listen to them
They got that Georgia shout down pat.

Guy, Cray, Collins, Clapton they are with no doubt great guitarist but they all learned from one man : Albert King.
I heard it from Buddy Guy himself when I went to see him live in Edinburgh (Scotland) few years ago

You know that Robert Cray listened to a hell of a lot of Luther coming up. One of the most under-rated guitarists in Blues...sorely missed.

My mommy turned me onto Luther Allison.
She told me 'Son, you don't know the blues!'
She was right.
