the 8C is junk. I considered buying one before I got my G TurismoS and boy, was I dissapointed. The car is all over the place. Slow on getting power and you feel every rock or crack you run over. Just junk..... Gorgeous car, bad mechanics and engineering....so sad.....

For the record, the grills are so big that the number plate actually rests on the grills. All other AMs have the number plates below it. One-77 is too radical for me.

I don't care how much crap it is in terms of performance, ride quality or anything else. you have an alfa romeo because they are never ever boring. I wish Alfa Romeo didn't make this a limited edition model. Anyways how come when Clarkson was reviewing this car on Top Gear in a less harsh way than this?

@JimmyChannel1 Because he was on a track. This time, he was driving it in real world conditions. The 8C is a great looking car, but I prefer the Aston Martin V12 Vantage. 90% as good looking, 90% better to drive.

@NobleM15fan thanks for the reply. now i understand. i LOVE the almost everything of the aston v12 vantage except from the carbon air intakes on the bonnet. those just completely ruin the beautiful appearance of that car in my opinion. therefore, i would save up for the DBS. just because its the flagship (or is the rapide?) and the back diffuser looks more mean than the v12 vantage, possibly more comfy since its more a GT car than a supercar and also its got 2 more seats.

@JimmyChannel1 Fair enough, the DBS is certainly better looking than the V12 Vantage. The Rapide is a very pretty car, but it's just too expensive. If someone gave me one I'd be over the moon.

To my mind, if a car doesn't drive as good as it looks, then it's failed. The DBS does; the 8C doesn't. It's that simple.

@NobleM15fan yes, the Rapide is possibly the prettiest 4 door car on sale today but i would buy a Maserati Quattroporte S or the BMW 760li or an Audi S8.

I live in Tokyo where apart from a racetrack, you can never go above 45mph on the motorways and its obviously illegal to do some powerslides/drifting so you can't get to push a car to its limits. But im with you, a good car has to drive well. But i am even bothered to pay the money to get the 8c just to look at and hear the gorgeous v8 sound.

@JimmyChannel1 Apart from a race track, there aren't many places where you really can push a car right to the limits. Government laws, bravery of the driver, and the laws of physics all play their part.

I don't think the 8C is as good looking as a lot of people say. I don't like the front grille at all. I agree with Clarkson: it's a beautiful car, but that's all it is. And these days, that just isn't enough. Many offer looks and driving pleasure.

@NobleM15fan for me, the 8c is a car that i would like to keep as a decoration. just looking at it in the garden. the reason why they have that grill which you don't like is so that the car is distinguished as an alfa. its a trademark. i think this is a proper (typical) alfa - some bad things, some good things, but never ever boring to have.

It's the geometry and configuration of it that are likely wrong. Probably they came from a longer-wheelbased Maserati or Ferrari, hence the mediocre result....

I think the problem with the 8C is that it's a "patched up" car. To save money, the engine comes from Ferrari, the chassis is a modified big lazy Maserati one, and then there's Fiat group always reminding Alfa they're not allowed to make the car faster than the F430.

Alfa engineers were building this car with their hands tied because most of the car was built elsewhere by someone who couldn't care less. If this car was to be Alfa's Halo they should have let them build it from scratch.
