What stalinist draconian bullshit the North Koreans have to deal with every day. If they only knew what was going on outside of their country, they would surely rise up against the government.
Complete and outright net neutrality for N. Korea? That would be like Pandora's Box and they know it!! Wouldn't surprise me the least if Kim Jong Il has a satellite dish on his house for complete access to the web. Anyone know his email address?
It's sad how the U.S. is just brainwashing us into thinking that North Koreans are going to nuke us as soon as they see us. They're actually probably going to run up to an American and grab their leg and follow them into the U.S. But yes, screw the Kims. Ruin everything.
What right does the USA have to ask the North Koreans to disarm their nuclear weapons when they themselves are having it and pointing them to every country in the world? the only reason why the DPRK isn't giving up their nuclear weapons is because the USA hasn't done so and the DPRK feels threatened by it. I am not a North Korean. But I feel that the biggest terrorist of the world isn't Osama, Saddam nor Kim Jong-Il but the USA (Barack Obama is the head terrorist).
Indeed, wth is Facebook that important? As if it represents the social internet usage.. It's nothing more special than a avarage site and not even necessarily in a life.
@matthewxx101 4th strongest? I would ask you to prove that but I know you can't so let's just skip ahead to answering your retarded points. Ironically, the people suffering in there would welcome nuclear death, I bet.
Thanks for reminding me why the US needs a powerful military: because we share the world with bloodthirsty tyrants like you .
@matthewxx101 they are the fourth largest not the strongest. btw US have nukes. US also have the atomic bomb you troll. US can kill north korea easily

Nice collaboration, ABCnews and Pyongyang. Now everyone believes that restrictions will be lifted. Of course it won't be so. Remember what happened to mobile phones a few years ago.
@napajedlacek the media is to powerful. Here in the UK a newspaper called "The Sun" pretty much decides on what government is going to run the country next.
I'm stunned by how many people have became conditioned to believing everything the media says. Anyone with common sense will know to take it with a pinch of salt
Any human being with the slightest sense of sanity and empathy for the human condition should KILL KIM JONG IL the moment they had a clear shot. A claw hammed to the skull, a shotgun blast to the roof of his mouth, a bullet between the eyes, a knife wound to the heart or brain. EVISCERATE this tyrant!
It seems that in NK there is a slight generation gap. The younger generations increasingly recognize that their country is not as closed as before and that they will have to open up NK more and more. Hopefully they will do so by degrees and not all at once. In a virtual "hermit kingdom" like NK, it will take a few years for the people to accept the presence of foreigners on their soil. The visit by the NYC Philharmonic is a step in the right direction.
that girl that admitted that she hoped there would be future internet access is gonna be toast. Sad that she admitted it now shes probably in a concentration camp.
Well, that's not the largest sample size of NK college students exactly, though. Maybe the ones who spoke English the very best were the only one's allowed to talk to the reporters. Or maybe you're right, NK students do indeed speak English, on average better than the South Korean ones. . .
They said thoughs were the "elite students" whatever that means, and besides... Like their gonna send your normal north korean college student to speak with USA news reporters that are there to make friends... Of course they used the best of thier best students.
I like the way Internet is monitored over there. Facebook is nothing but a piece of shit where sex starved college "students" go on and complain about this or that. Fucking ban Facebook already. Bring back the CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC, not this materialistic dumbass pop culture that is so prevalent in America today.
American media are fucken liar full of shit they American start war in Korea, vientnam, Laos, and Cambodian. American so foolish never learn that they are the problem who bring war to ever corner of the world. And they say that want to bring freedom to the world. fool of shit, yes american have it own way of freedome so do other, I lived here in america 16yrs all i see is greed and racism provity, gangster, struggling , If you not white you not american . accounting to white man.
its north korean propoganda that says the US caused the war, they feed false info into the minds of north koreans from an early age so ofcourse that is what they will believe.
Do you think that their just showing the usual thing of what's presented to outsiders: Propaganda? Now I'm not saying the internet is fake. It's very real just like the rest of the world. But don't you think that their just showing of how they have the latest technology just like everyone else?
Although to the people who was using the internet in this video, I wonder what they were thinking personally.
"There have been Korean war caused by the United States"
In reality, the U.S. did not cause the Korean war. But if you say that to a local, they'll disagree. This goes under the Truemen Doctrine (President Trueman)
"We'll let the communist keep what they have, and will not throw them out. But if they expand, we will force them back."
dude, not to prove you wrong, but if you read about history you are probably gonna find out that the USA caused wars both in Korea and in Vietnam (USSR as well for Korea). In 1945 USA arrived in Korea to kick japan out, and USA and USSR agreed to seperate the country at the 38th parallel without even consulting the Koreans. Think about it, 2 superpowers decide to seperate a country in 2 just because of their own ideology , thirst of power and expantionism...
Yes, but by the time "North Korea" invaded "South Korea", both superpowers USA and USSR had already been in Korea for nearly 5 years, both powers refusing to recognize the existing political organizations that had been established by the Korean people, imposing their own government (or even japanese colonial administrators) and their own ideology.
So did "North Korea" attacked "South Korea"? Well, we could say that, but sounds more to me like USSR used the koreans to attack koreans used by USA
Its going to be interesting to see what happens to North Korea. Now that their younger generation has gotten a taste of the internet who know's where this will lead them in the future?
And letting AMERICANS into their country? That's quite an unprecedented feat of change considering how much they dispise Americans.
All I'm saying is that North Korea is now allowing a lot more things to happen that it wouldn't have let a few years ago.
all i know is that when north korea finally collapses, a lot of horrible stuff is going to be revealed and the north koreans are going to be very angry. its going to be on a scale compared to stalins russia and the holocaust of ww2 when light is shed on whats been happening in north korea all this time when reunification happens.
They don't have access to THE internet. They have access to a shitty national network thats full of the same propaganda they get on TV and through their loudspeakers.
Why do you say that? I am from Spain and the United States is not all that bad. The people are nice. I am glad that Bush is no longer president. I hope you can change your view towards americans.
I find hope in this newsbit, because I am all for improving relations with North Korea. There are so many people there who are never given the chance to flourish.
I'm shocked to see those students speak great English as well having access to the internet.
But let it be known, they are the minority. Most of NK's citizens are either in the farms or in the gulags.
Progress is being made, yes, but the question is what will it be like there after Jung-Il dies? The battle for succession is next.
1:34, the man said we have stopped restriction. it was a 100% fake. their northern border is the river. the southern border is the true dmz. their only one packet communication line uses the satellite circuit. they owns no satellites.
North Koreans will become truly strong once they can cast off their greatest burden: Kim Jong Il and the memory of the great liar, his father. The Kims have successfully run North Korea into the ground. They are totally responsible for the failure North Korea has become.
Today's North Korea resembles China during the 1960s-1970s. As we are seeing know, China is becoming very powerful under it's strong central leadership. Hopefully, with a committee of wiser leaders in North Korea, it will become a powerful regional ally.
Don't forget that a mouse will bite a cat if he is cornered. US finally came to realize that pushing them would get nowhere. They are now seeking normalization. Bush will get the Nobel Peace Prize.
That video showed a glimpse of hope but, there are so many north koreans dying, starving and are being publicly executed by the govt. What about them?
I think that would be the first curiosity or realization process would happen...The slowly they gave access to the internet, the slow they would learn with what are outside perception towards NK...The more they research about america, the more good knowledge they would gain for the first phase of turning against Kim Jong Ill...
wow....it's horrible that they're so restricted and influenced by the state...i want to just spend time with them and take them out for ice cream and show them that the rest of the world isn't exactly what their country determines to be....
it's terrible to live in a nation with one of the worst human rights records in the world. FREE NORTH KOREA
No one in their right mind wants anyone to suffer meaninglessly by starvation or by concentration camps. I am not a mindless idiot, I know of the evils that are going on in North Korea...there's so much evidence (video footage and photos). After meeting north korean refugees, I cannot dismiss this issue. I am not restricted. I am my own person with a free mind. I will use my rights to fight for theirs.A government doesn't deserve to exist if its people cannot exercise the most basic of rights.
who says that I did not care about domestic affairs? who says that I am not doing anything about it? Who are you to negatively criticize what I care about? I am not narrow minded like you claim me to be, but from a supporter of a failed political ideology, I don't expect better. You are the one who needs to wake up.
Besides who are you to talk, you have a youtube account. How much better is you tube from other websites meant to connect people.
Do you think people in North Korea have youtube? What with all the documentaries about their country all over the place. Propaganda you may say. Yet North Korean Propaganda videos are available on youtube and I have the freedom and choice to watch them.
Well you only have youtube , because you have internet , and you only have internet because , the American Universities were trying to communicate better between each other so they can answer to The Soviet "Sputnic" + they needed a de-centrilised system , to better protekt their data from soviet bombs . so you should be thankfull to the Soviets .

Bring back the CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC, not this materialistic dumbass pop culture that is so prevalent in America today.

XxWestPopxX 3 years ago
its north korean propoganda that says the US caused the war, they feed false info into the minds of north koreans from an early age so ofcourse that is what they will believe.

DeltaEagle7700 3 years ago
"There have been Korean war caused by the United States"
In reality, the U.S. did not cause the Korean war. But if you say that to a local, they'll disagree. This goes under the Truemen Doctrine (President Trueman)
"We'll let the communist keep what they have, and will not throw them out. But if they expand, we will force them back."
DeltaEagle7700 3 years ago
dude, not to prove you wrong, but if you read about history you are probably gonna find out that the USA caused wars both in Korea and in Vietnam (USSR as well for Korea). In 1945 USA arrived in Korea to kick japan out, and USA and USSR agreed to seperate the country at the 38th parallel without even consulting the Koreans. Think about it, 2 superpowers decide to seperate a country in 2 just because of their own ideology , thirst of power and expantionism...
wakold 3 years ago
That's true.
DeltaEagle7700 3 years ago
Agreed, but the North still invaded the south.
AW2378000000000000 3 years ago
Yes, but by the time "North Korea" invaded "South Korea", both superpowers USA and USSR had already been in Korea for nearly 5 years, both powers refusing to recognize the existing political organizations that had been established by the Korean people, imposing their own government (or even japanese colonial administrators) and their own ideology.
So did "North Korea" attacked "South Korea"? Well, we could say that, but sounds more to me like USSR used the koreans to attack koreans used by USA
wakold 3 years ago 2
I agree with you
AW2378000000000000 3 years ago
I would say both of you are right and wrong. History is subjective, depending on which stand you're taking on.

-Things might just get interesting...
Paulbarbato 3 years ago
all i know is that when north korea finally collapses, a lot of horrible stuff is going to be revealed and the north koreans are going to be very angry. its going to be on a scale compared to stalins russia and the holocaust of ww2 when light is shed on whats been happening in north korea all this time when reunification happens.

That video showed a glimpse of hope but, there are so many north koreans dying, starving and are being publicly executed by the govt. What about them?

Well, probably that teacher spoke good English because it's her job to teach, but usually normal people can't speak any other languages there.

I think that would be the first curiosity or realization process would happen...The slowly they gave access to the internet, the slow they would learn with what are outside perception towards NK...The more they research about america, the more good knowledge they would gain for the first phase of turning against Kim Jong Ill...
martinjom 3 years ago
wow....it's horrible that they're so restricted and influenced by the state...i want to just spend time with them and take them out for ice cream and show them that the rest of the world isn't exactly what their country determines to be....
it's terrible to live in a nation with one of the worst human rights records in the world. FREE NORTH KOREA
SoCloseIThought 3 years ago 3
You are restricted and Influenced by the state too..
May be they need to take you out for some Dog ..
and show you that North Korea is not exactly how your government wants it to be ...
As for human rights , thats just a propaganda slogan ... like "Freedom" or "Allah" ..
HK379 3 years ago
No one in their right mind wants anyone to suffer meaninglessly by starvation or by concentration camps. I am not a mindless idiot, I know of the evils that are going on in North Korea...there's so much evidence (video footage and photos). After meeting north korean refugees, I cannot dismiss this issue. I am not restricted. I am my own person with a free mind. I will use my rights to fight for theirs.A government doesn't deserve to exist if its people cannot exercise the most basic of rights.
SoCloseIThought 3 years ago 3
I don't know how wealthy you are. For working class Americans, they are free not to work. But if they do not work, they starve.
They are driven to work by threat of starvation.
There is a slave driver in any country.
johnkim100530 3 years ago
Who has the right to not work ?
Are you insane ?
there is not such right... There is starvation or Jail if you don`t work ..
And even if you do work they keep exploiting you .. no one will let you just to work , they have to talk bullshit to you
until you snap .. and than they say your Anti - Social ... or just fire you ..
HK379 3 years ago
What about the crap , thats going on in your county ? why dont you use your "rights" and "super powers" to fight against that ...?
Its kind of hard over sudden ?
You might as well just keep on what you doing up to now (like not careing) ..right ?
But if its far away and you don`t really know nothing about that .. you are first in line
right ... ? Wake Up .
HK379 3 years ago
who says that I did not care about domestic affairs? who says that I am not doing anything about it? Who are you to negatively criticize what I care about? I am not narrow minded like you claim me to be, but from a supporter of a failed political ideology, I don't expect better. You are the one who needs to wake up.

Do they not have sarcasm in North Korea as well?
Besides who are you to talk, you have a youtube account. How much better is you tube from other websites meant to connect people.
Do you think people in North Korea have youtube? What with all the documentaries about their country all over the place. Propaganda you may say. Yet North Korean Propaganda videos are available on youtube and I have the freedom and choice to watch them.
christine2692 3 years ago
Well you only have youtube , because you have internet , and you only have internet because , the American Universities were trying to communicate better between each other so they can answer to The Soviet "Sputnic" + they needed a de-centrilised system , to better protekt their data from soviet bombs . so you should be thankfull to the Soviets .
