We need learning it very important to know. Myself is deaf since birth that I cannot hear. I fluent America Sign Language. My speech is not great. I am interested in handgun. I understand firearm safety. I need take the class first

  • Everything you're complaining about comes off as unprofessional. Sooo sorry you have customers to deal with. Upon further thought however, what you're really complaining about is all the States Unconstitutional infringement upon our second amendment. Welcome to the club.

  • Fuck waiting periods

  • I think some of the gun laws are dumb. If a person going to do a crime with a gun that's under their name is dumb...lol They buy guns off the streets and not in the store's...U.S. just want to take guns from everybody and rule us with power!

  • This video blows. We are the customers, and you get the sales from us. If you don't like dumb questions, and stuff, quit whining and get a new job.

  • All your video are awesome. Thanks so much for doing them! They're informative, clear and well organized. (Not to mention free of bad language, unlike several other gun store etiquette videos I unfortunately ran across.)

  • i go to USA because the liberals in my country dont give me the freedom to buy a firearms

  • I don't want to live in a country where my RIGHTS can be TAKEN away like a PRIVILEGE. I would rather die than have my rights taken from me like that.

  • You have to be one of the most dangerous women in America.lol IF i was a badguy i would of never thought you carried a gun.?You look like a soccer mom and the voice.?

  • Is it ok to dry fire the gun at the clerk ?

  • @primoknoxville you can but you need to ask first. remember the gun is not yours so ask them whenever you want to do anything with the gun .

  • under the age of 21 you can not buy a HANDGUN what abought rifles, shotguns, exc.

  • @masterman467 rifles and shotguns you can buy at 18

  • @masterman467 it all depends on that state you live in

  • Like how you labeled times in the info area for different topics, shows u care about ur vids

  • Women like these Understandably have a ring on their finger...LOL

    Great vid.

  • took yore advise and called ahed and asked them about bizzy day ? // i do have a transfer coming there way and this gun store had alreadey pre aproved the transfer but didnt expext the call i made today asking when mite be the more convient time for me to come in.,? they liked that ., Good advise /// thanks....

  • "I WANNA BUY A GUN!!"

*blink* "Ooookay... Rifle? Shotgun? Handgun? Revolver? Pistol? Help me out here!"

    "LASERS!!!"

  • who is the marine?

  • Great vid

  • I was at the gun store today picking up another firearm and a purchase next to me stopped dead because the husband had an issue on his record and the wife was buying a gun for herself... whoops. Hopefully it doesn't take him too long to get his rights restored and she can get her gun... Hopefully I can get out to the range tomorrow.

  • @TheLandsburgh

Asshole, I'm in the kitchen in this vid, get out of your mother's basement.

  • I don't know about other states but you need to buy a purchase permit not the the specific handgun but for "a" handgun and then you come back after purchase to turn in all the specifics.

  • If I was not from Germany, I would go straight to her shop next month.

  • @vanPoll Oh say that again.

Manchmal wünsche ich mir ein persönliches Second Amendment, nur für mich und ehrliche MItbürger Deutschlands! xD

  • @JackCarver10 Da sprichst du mir absolut aus der Seele.

  • Very informative ! I have been in hundreds of gunshops and I learned from this vid. Also I really liked the example of the hunter buying a rifle 5 days before a hunting trip just to find h has a 10 day waiting period . That would be really scary to just hit the woods with a gun you were not familiar with ,allthough I see it every year at deer season. Some nancy boy with daddy's credit card buying a 7 mm magnum and never even sight it in before season. That's scary !!!!

  • Aliens who are not permanent residents (green card holder) may not purchase firearms in the U.S. That is Federal law and applies in all 50 states.

  • i noticed you saying "assault rifle" so i assume that you know the difference in assault rifles and tactical rifles bravo

  • @masterofnotmuch Yes, but in some states they don't. For instance, in VA you have to have proof of citizenship to buy what the STATE refers to as an "assault rifle" when in the actual definition of things it is not.. it's just the states way of making it big, black and scary.. but it is what it is.

  • great video series lima. Just wondering, would a straw purchase include a situation where a parent buys a firearm for a kid because he is too young to buy one himself? There are a lot of parents who do that for their children (so they can go hunting or can learn to shoot), and I would be shocked if that were illegal.

  • @nicker3290 This is determined by state law and store policy. Call ahead and ask.

  • Love your videos lima. They are always very informative and fun to watch, even if I already know what you're talking about. I mean no disrespect when I say this, but this video series seems more like a rant from a gun salesman point of view than a first time purchasing guide.

  • At 5:45 the domestic call alone would be a disqualifier in NYS if I remember the application correctly.

  • @fataugie May or may not.. I don't know NYS law. It's something I would call and ask about or look up the state law regarding such.

  • Uhhh I don kanow wats going on... Does this mean you'll go with me to the gun store? :)

  • Informative. I did a short stint at K-Mart selling firearms, and just remember how long it took to get approvals back. Oh, yes, and whenever someone made a small mistake on the app. form, he had to start all over again. Got some complaints over that. Thanks for sharing.

  • Whats the deal with legal aliens without green cards?

Like tourists in the US for 90days? I've always wondered...

  • @xXxCatsnakexXx I'm Pretty sure you need to be a green card holder or a US citizen. Don't quote me on that because I've never had a non-green card holder even try to purchase and never had to deal with something like that.

  • @limalife You must be Resident green card, not tourists or Visa. I'm perminent resident and i'm getting my first gun soon pendin for 10 days for background check.

  • I dunno if this is a Wisconsin only thing, but something else you should know is if any relatives with the same last name have criminal records or legal issues pending against them.

  • Just wanted to say thanks. I am going to a gun show this weekend to purchase a new firearm, and didn't realize my ID was expired. Had I not watched your video I would not have checked and would have been greatly disappointed. So again thanks and keep up the good work.

  • Here in Ohio, the county Sheriff has access to the firearm records, issue CCW permits. If a person has a question about being able to buy a firearm, call your sheriff. You would be surprised how many local city police don't know the laws concerning firearm ownership.

  • @ 16:00, a pet peeve of mine. They are "title two" items, sold by a class III licensed dealer, and you apply with a form four to get them. There is no such thing as "Class III items"

    Love your channel though.

  • @Motojoe23 true, true.

  • Excellent 3 part series!!!

  • I love your videos but you lost me at the example at 5:21.

If someone said, "I was arrested for domestic violence..."

Would everyone watching this video sell that man a pistol because he has the right to own it?

That really bothers me. I would tell him to take his business elsewhere. Is that unusual?

  • @SmokingandTyping Not everyone who is arrested is guilty. False accusations are made every day by angry people. If someone is arrested but is found to be innocent of the accusations I'm not sure what the problem is.

  • @limalife You are 100% correct. I'm all for innocent until proven guilty but I hear "arrested for domestic violence" and think this guy's got a temper and the neighbors think he beat up his wife.

That he didn't do the research to know the answer himself suggests it's an impulse buy.

Those are enough red flags for me. In part 2, you mentioned customers who show up with a drunk buddy. It's kind of like that.

  • And please for the sake of all things good and holy never ask the gun store employees about making your AK full auto. You will be lucky if all they do is ignore you till you leave the store.

  • @Farside26 Amen!

  • great vid. really liking this

  • Thanks for touching on the issue of buying a gun with a green card. I want to move to the US once I'm done my degree, but have been unsure as to when you can legally purchase a firearm.

Great video, you've earned yourself a subscriber.

  • My typical gun store carries class 3...not that I can afford it.

  • @odiedodi Ha, who can? The hardest part about buying an automatic weapon is getting the money for it.

  • I would hate to work retail where 99% of my customers are rednecks and criminals.

  • @solobackpacking

Then don't work for Walmart ;P

  • @solobackpacking Been there.. done that.. just as frustrated as you..lol

  • @solobackpacking your country was founded by rednecks...from europe.

  • @solobackpacking

Criminals almost NEVER buy from a retail outlet. They get their weapons through theft, or strawman purchases...

  • good vid lima!!!

  • My local gun store has silencers.

  • check by calling tthe police on yourself then hide behind the counter and if they take you to jail you cant buy a gun. easy peazy.

  • no sales tax in Montana YEE HAW! lolololol

  • Great info. Thanks for another informative video series.

  • Great idea for a video!!! It's nice to actually hear from someone who has experience in the field and can share that unique perspective. Very nicely done. I'm looking forward to the following two videos. Thank you for posting this.

    Cheers,

    MrWheelie19

  • i think in netherlands am not allow to have a gun.criminals have guns

i thought to buy M 16 machine gun i can t snik snik kidding

  • Hey, Let me see your Uzi, ha-ha-ha! LMAO! I love your vids, you keep it real and amusing. Keep Up The Good Work!

  • I sure am glad I live in, the Great State of Ohio. All ya need to buy a firearm is a Government issued Id. Complete the Federal Form. One phone call to make sure your not a bad guy. Pay for it and take your baby home. No waiting period, No Permits.

  • you look like the psychologist in The Fourth Kind

  • @MascisMan1 i thought the same thing!

  • Limalife, this was an excellent vid to prepare a first time purchaser. At first I wanted to say it was cute but I thought you might find that disparaging! Seriously though, this is how YT was meant to be, entertaining and educational at the same time. First rate.

  • @joesphx19 Thank you.

  • Let me see your uzi's HAHEHEA .... lmfao

  • If I were to get a rifle permit in New Jersey does a 12gage shotgun fall under that permit?

  • @Explorer227 Not sure about New Jersey laws.. you'd have to call a local dealer and ask.

  • God gun laws suck in this fucked up federal morass of a country.

  • @Nightshift10000 If you live somewhere else for a little while this country doesn't look so bad.

  • Purchase permit? Glad I don't live in that state.

  • @jkeys251 michigan has one but its usually not a problem but definately unconstitutional.

  • Thanks for the behind the counter perspective and other info. I have purchased all my firearms online from out of state, internet vendors and then picked them up from local FFL dealers. Wouldn't mind hearing your take on this. I'm guessing local gun shops probably aren't crazy about this practice because they're not the ones selling me the merchandise. But based on a lot of internet research, I find I get the most bang for my buck buying online, even with shipping and FFL fees thrown in.

  • @madrmm I talk about online purchases in the next video. We've bought lots of guns online and think it's a great way to find good deals.

  • @madrmm my thought on it is, support the brick and mortar shops, or they will go away.

Money is not everything. Sometimes the tech support and information you can get from a brick and mortar store (not just guns. Be it sporting goods, automotive, motorcycle etc) is worth something too.

the internet is killing those places

  • PT 1911 FTW!

  • Ridiculous! (Me , not you kiddo). I try to explain everything you've covered to friends who are gun shopping...from now on, I'll just link your video and email it to them. I live in California (we're very "special" where gun purchases are concerened). You covered the basics very well. As always, great stuff. My best to you and your family.

  • Next gun I am going to purchase is a Ruger GP100 4 inch barrel. Its hard to save up money. Thanks for the comprehensive video :)

  • This is the best I've seen on the topic, hope 2c the next 2. I'm sending it to my friend...

  • @noquie1 Thanks. I hope it helps your friend.

  • That's an absolute absurd law, you can't purchase a handgun from age 18-21? yet you can carry a handgun on the front lines in Iraq at age 18 when laying your life on the line for your country?

    just ridiculous...

  • @dirtyminded604 The life of a soldier is regulated. They are trained, they are taught discipline and gun handing and overseen by authority while armed. The vast majority of 18-21 y/os have none of these things in place and I cringe at the thought of average 18 y/o being able to buy handguns. If there was legislation that asked for handgun purchases to be made available for military personnel between 18-21 I would support it but for average citizens of that age? No.

  • @limalife We can purchase handguns in Canada at age 18, (which is surprising to hear you cant, considering the states freedom in regards to firearms). however, it is highly regulated and we have to pass 4 tests (2 practical, 2 written) at a minimum of 80% each test. I guess most 18 - 21 year olds here aren't willing to go through the BS, however if they do, and pass, .i believe they are responsible as most adults holding the same licenses.

    Thanks again, and great channel.

  • @dirtyminded604 If we had that kind of system I would support it as well because someone willing to go through that kind of process shows responsibility and sense.

  • @limalife That's a slippery slope to go down... trust me it wouldn't end there! lol As reasonable as it may sound it would evolve into something more and more restrictive. Just look at the UK.

  • @limalife I've very surprised Lima. You presume that government can be trusted to regulate gun ownership fairly and without nefarious intent....history everywhere shows that to be false.

How effective has licensing drivers been at ensuring that they all have "responsibility and sense?" Does it keep people from driving?

I would like to keep guns out of the hands of idiots but then you risk that idiots will keep guns out of yours. Freedom is the best security.

    It's a RIGHT, not a privilege.

  • @RWT683 I'm not talking about licensing or registering in general. I'm talking about a competency test just for those under the age of 21.

I agree that it's a right and I think that people under the age of 21 SHOULD be able to purchase handguns provided they can prove they are safe with them.

Just like minors who want to be emancipated must prove they can live without their parents, a youngster should prove he is competent with a handgun. Once he turns 21.. no restrictions for legal purchases.

  • @limalife I have to respectfully disagree simply because a person who has reached 18 years of age is legally an adult. Such person can vote and carry a handgun (or machine gun!) in the US military but can't purchase a handgun of his own. Is this fair? For the same reason I'm against the drinking age being set at 21. As for maturity, I don't see a big difference between 18 and 21. Unfortunately many people never mature no matter how old they get.

  • @limalife

Lima, it is a law that ffl's can't sell to people until they are 21, however, in a few states owning and possessing a gun at 18 is perfectly legal. In PA for example, 18 year olds can legally own handguns(and carry them openly). They can either be transfered from parents to children or transfered to non-related individuals through a sheriff's office(if the sheriff is willing).

  • @illogicalmethod Only persons of 21 years of age may obtain a carry license in the state of PA.

  • @esh325

Yes, I KNOW, did I say differently? No I did not. However, fact is, you DO NOT need a carry license to carry openly, as long as you don't carry it in a car or step foot into Philadelphia.

  • @dirtyminded604 The restriction to 21 and above is currently being challenged in court and based on a recent Supreme Court ruling has a strong chance of being overturned.

Under Canada's system not only can you never use a gun for defense (even at home), if you live in certain provinces like Quebec, you need advance permission from the government every time you take a handgun to the range.

No thanks, I still choose the 2nd amendment and no registration over Canada's system.

  • @RWT683 Yes, the law in Canada for handguns is a little bit much. I need an ATT (authorization to transport) every time i bring a handgun out of my house. If you are a range member you usually will get a 5 year ATT. but even for a quick trip to the gunsmith you need to contact your chief firearms officer and request an ATT from your place of residence where the gun is stored, to the address of the gunsmith, and for how long of duration. just ridiculous...

  • @dirtyminded604

Canada, like the US, is moving from one of the most free places on earth to a restrictive, socialist state. And as we are doing in the US, importing aliens to "diversify" the populace and to forever lock in those in power who will take away our freedoms. Ham-handed laws on gun ownership will not stop crime as England and Australia are sadly discovering. I don't know how long the US can hold out against those who would be our "new" citizens, who will do whatever they are told.

  • Oregon is great, no restrictions, no waiting, nice and easy.

  • @Flamethrower2000 Are You sure about that. I live in Idaho and I was told that If I buy a Gun to never travel to Oregon because the laws on firearms are so tight.

  • @Nightshift10000 I live in Oregon, I've purchased 13 guns over 4 years. The longest wait I've had was 20 min from pointing at the gun (a handgun) to leaving with it. All you need, other than being old enough, is money and a current DL. Open carry is legal, full auto, suppressors etc.. are A OK. Background check is $10. Plus, no taxes.

So yeah, Oregon gun laws are looser than a Mexican prostitute.

  • @Flamethrower2000 It's the same way here in Idaho, I think I was misinformed.

  • @Flamethrower2000 So you're saying that FULL AUTO is ok in Oregon, I think thats a federal offense if you don't have a permit for it. Also, there would be lots of videos of people going full auto on old appliances. Which I would enjoy.

  • @grizz474 Well yes, you still need a permit. I just was implying that some states don't allow them under any circumstance.

  • Super video! Thanks for the info.

  • Good stuff Lima!

  • Im glad you're continuing with these vids, it was informative when we were all doing concealed carry vids and this is good useful info for a lot of peeps.

  • Thanks for the tips. I definitely wont buy until I leave California.

  • ★★★★★

  • I mentioned this to you awhile ago but I'll put it here for THEM. In my State (NY) make, model, caliber, serial number must be written on the license. That means you have to fill out a renewal form EVERY time. You once told me you & your husband buy, sell, trade a lot. I told you that would be a nightmare if you live in NY

  • First time I entered a gun store, I skipped class and walked 4 miles to buy some ammo. For guns I didn't have yet. Second time, I went in to get one of those guns. No second ID on me. Oh well, 3rd time was the charm, but with more vids like yours, the 1st one can be too!

  • Let me help your viewing public out. ANY felony ANY domestic violence NO guns PERIOD. If someone has too many misdemeanor convictions (handled on a case by case basis) may result in denial. For instance if you apply for a handgun license the processor of your license can decided how many convictions is too many. Also the individual dealer reserves the Right to refuse purchase. Example if someone has two DWIs the dealer can refuse service for the justification that the applicant is irresponsible

  • @VinnyS914 I wouldn't say "PERIOD" to that. There are people with felonies who've had their rights restored and have bought firearms. There are people with domestic violence convictions who have had their records expunged and purchased firearms. Same with other things as well.

In general, this is true but it's certainly not the final word on the matter.

  • @limalife Expungment is totally different. In my vid "Supreme Court Upholds Second Amendment; Mcdonald v Chicago" . I mention the guy I met who was in prison for 16 years for rape & murder, he's in Law School Now. I meant felonies NOT expunged. You correct me a lot you should be a teacher. I'm watching Part 3 now

  • I was in a store one time and this guy let his fat, mouth-breathing 14 year old kid go around and pick up every black riffle and make sound effects.

  • @bloddynose13 Yeah... I can see how that'd be annoying.

  • great vid lima! Hope you had a happy and safe holiday!

  • Thanks for the video.

  • ★★★★★

  • And I wanna add a reloading kit, how much more will that be? lol, Very informative...

  • Great information , you answered a question I did not think of until you mentioned it. Thanks Lima

  • Just to let people know, you can buy a gun even if you don't have a green card or citizenship. I'm on a work visa but the same applies to students etc. As long as you 1) have been in the US for 90 days or more and can prove this e.g. utility bills, and 2) hold a valid hunting license issued by a state. You aren't limited to hunting firearms or firearms for hunting, at that point you are just like a citizen to the fed gov. State laws vary of course so check those, but in some you can get CCW too!

  • i remember you once mentioning there was some hidden meaning to your username, did you ever explain that? i'm still curious =(

  • @Robstailey It's not too involved.. maybe one day I'll tell..lol

  • Tom Coburn single handedly held up that bill in the Senate, but it eventually passed. GOA called the "Veterans Disarmament Act". They claim if you ever had a prescription for prozac or zoloft, you risk being denied, etc, and apparently the ATF refuses to clarify exactly what they mean.

  • Nice video with good info. Thanks for sharing

  • OMG 16:13 is so funny I played that part over about 15 times

  • Very valuable information. It seems the big mystery on passing the NICS check is with regards to mental health issues. No one seems to know just exactly what is meant by "adjudicated mentally defective" on one of the 4473 questions. Gun Owners of America put out all kinds of information warning citizens of liberal interpretations of this by beuracrats back when the criminal records update bill was passed at the end of 2007.

  • @Machi74005 This is a tough one and your right.. there doesn't seem to be any CLEAR info. Most of the time we interpreted that as meaning if a judge had made a legal ruling claiming you to be mentally defective you couldn't buy a gun. I had a customer once who admitted he was such a person and I denied the sale.

He WENT NUTS! It was one of the most tense moments working in a gun store and I'm really glad we denied the sale.

  • Lima Bean

  • realy take extra money to the gun store!! I spent 200 over the cost of my ar with the tax/ ammo/ cleaning kit and extras I didnt want to leave without buying and I got an ( after tax quote ) GREAT INFO LIMA!!

  • Here in AZ if you have your CCW permit you can skip the BG check. Saves a little time.

  • Great info for newbies,,,

  • Oh this is good! I remember the first few time's I went in there, I had NO idea what was cool or not. :-/

  • @KaletheQuick My first time was rather funny, too. I spent 90% of the time trying to convince the clerk that I was REALLY SURE I didn't want a revolver.. darned stereotypes.

  • how old do you have to be to get your concealed carry permit

  • @1991jarhead 21 in most places

  • @1991jarhead Yep, most places you have to be 21. Check out your state laws... even googling your state + concealed carry laws could get you a lot of info.

  • I used to sell guns also. I got tired of everyone talking about how there going to shoot people.

  • @intheshapeofhuman Thankfully I never had anyone say this to me and if they did I would have told them to go pound sand as there was no way I was going to sell them a firearm. I don't take that kind of stuff lightly.

  • your so awsome.

  • first! lima you rock!
