  • Abe Lincoln demonstrates around :54 !!!

  • EXELENTE EL VIDEO CADA VES QUE LO VEO LO ENCUENTRO MEJOR SALUDOS

  • if i'm not mistaken, is that Dr. Kano using atemi?

  • @OVERCAPITALIZE No its Kyuzo Mifune

  • I practice Judo for the throws, trips, top control, and takedown defense. I practice BJJ for bottom control/guard, sweeps, submissions, and submission defense. I feel like the two style compliment each other perfectly and don't know why they have to be mutually exclusive.

  • @HumanoidCableDreads

Same here my friend. I think they compliment each other perfectly as well.

  • @HumanoidCableDreads Do they often say nice things about each other?

  • good vid, terrible fucking music

  • great video.

  • the one at 0:53 is just vicious

  • i liked the one with the girl at 0:35 she pwned her opponent so badly

  • The biggest lesson to be had here is this :LEARN. If we all aspire to do great things, then learn. If you feel that BJJ or Judoka are your biggest enemies, then learn more about them/style to best defeat it. If you are just nutz about grappling, then learn from the other schools. Stop and think, the only place narrow minded people belong is in the place of a dictator. Look at the world, they are not welcome

  • @detroitvagabond well said my friend

  • They are one in the same art!!! Judo born from japanese jiu jitsu was modernized by jigaro kano. Judo (kano jiu jitsu) taught in brazil by maeda to the gracie's became BJJ. The point of a solid throw, if not to end the fight, is to be in solid position for groundwork. I concede modern Judo has become mired in olympic point systems, but true judo focuses equally on the ground and almost all the moves are the same, developed hundreds of years ago in fuedal japan.

  • @billysue2 Secondly, so what? Kimura was great, but who cares if he beat Helio? This is what ticks me off about this 'argument.' Judo people hold this one fight up as "proving" judo superior to BJJ. I think it's telling judo apologists hold up this fight from 50+ years ago as their "proof" of judo's superiority. Look at any other competition of BJJ vs judo since then. Unless there's a massive experience discrepancy or it's under judo rules it's virtually always the BJJ guy. Frequently even then.

  • @billysue2 Firstly, you're comparing probably the greatest judoka ever in excellent physical condition at 190 pounds versus a physically frail guy at 135 pounds. I'm sure 50 pounds of mostly muscle didn't really hurt Kimura's cause.

  • the song is weird

  • @fellowmercenary

the song thinks you're weird too

  • I thought u get osoto garis on the back of the leg, not the side.

  • hahaahha a little bit of "Bartitsu" at 55 seconds lol?

  • 0:53 "I say!!"

  • my favorite throw... the first one you learn... and it works SOO damn well..

  • Kimura's trademark move. Nice video.

  • some are osoto otoshi, not gari

  • 0:46 Does he hit the biceps like in Kali? I love Osoto Gari, it was my favourite technique even if I coul never do it right.

  • OSOTOGARI!!!!!!!!

This move is so cool cause you can incorperate it into tons of combanations and its a nice finishing move (Im talking about karate not Judo)

  • perfect compilation

  • That music makes the clip... like a dream...

  • the 1st fight was pawnage.... Kimura sensei rules! However did Gracie jj and by default bjj make their mark by marketting this fight as a victory? Well done bjj! Judo has a lot to learn! Lol

  • It was marketed, and in reality was, a moral victory.

  • Too bad Helio was too small to fit in the coffin the Gracie's brought out for Kimura.

  • @newazajunkie Ehmmm just checking, you do know Kimura won that fight right? To quote Helio Gracie "As soon as the fight started I was in his [Kimura] control."

  • @mra1983

Yes Judo's World champion Kimura Sensei won the fight; but the battle for marketing bullshit was certainly won by smoke and mirrors efficiently by Gracie family I saw which stated Kimura lost because Gracie didn't give up, even though he had a broken arm they twisted it into a moral victory and a win....

  • @chchjudoschool Aye true enough. It's funny when you read My Judo and the interview with Helio Gracie, their recount is completely different then the youtube video narrated by his son (can't remember his name).

  • @mra1983 that would be rorion, the world renowned liar. However mashahiko was known for exagerrating stuff as well, according to other judo sources the book cant be trusted for accuracy.Thing is ,helio had zero chance v kimura and shouldnt have been on mat with him,in both a technical and athletic sense.

  • @billysue2 I agree 100%

  • @billysue2 Well i dunno about that 100%. For Kimura to even accept Helio challenge, he had to first face skilled Judoka Kato. They went to a draw the 1st time and the second Helio choked Kato unconscious with a front choke. Helio proved he was worthy to grapple Kimura. Helio lasted for 13 minutes, Kimura himself said "If Helio can survive for 3 minutes, he should consider the fight a victory for him".

  • @Digressor666 kato was nothing like the pedigree of kimura.Helio survived and thats all he did for that time because kimura allowed him.I can play pure defense against black belts and survive for ages, but im nowhere near that level yet (in a gi at least).Kimura meant helio should consider it a personal victory, meaning he didnt even expect him to last that long.

  • my fav throw! ^^

  • YOSHI!

  • 0:55 - 1:00 is pwnage lol.

  • 0.58 :)

  • nice one, osoto-gari is my favourite

  • good stuff
