@benschlechter Aye, the Muppeteer or Muppet master used to always hold the Muppet above his head or in front of his body, with one hand operating the head and mouth and the other manipulating the hands and arms, either with two separate control rods or by "wearing" the hands like gloves. One consequence of this design was that most Muppets were left-handed as the puppeteer used his right hand to operate the head while operating the arm rod with his left hand.

@benschlechter Yeah! With the rod armed ones it's because it leaves the right hand free to work the puppet's head, but with a two-person muppet like Fozzie, I have no idea why he's lefty (unless the arm muppeteer actually WAS lefty). Anyone know?
Heh, my brother would totally identify with the Swedish Chef sketch. The lobster is one of his favorite animals for some reason and he hates it when I eat one.
Haven't seen these in years. We used to tape them every week, wish I still had the tapes, but they didn't survive 25+ years of moves. What's great is back then I laughed at different stuff that a 5-6 yr. old would enjoy. Now I see them and I see Animal as Keith Moon, the keyboard player as Dr. John, have a friend in Sweden, and have seen Madeline Khan's roles in Blazing Saddles and History of the World. Same show, same routines but now I'm laughing at different stuff.
@TheaterServant On the Muppet Show yes that's the name. But if you look up Dr. John you will find the real life inspiration for that character. I was referring to the real life musicians that these characters are based on.
Actually, if you look closely, you can see that the end of his nose is scrunched up underneath his mouth. Guess he really underestimated Piggy's punch.
Also, speaking of Miss Piggy, I think this version of her is the best one that was made and I wish it was kept for the rest of the Muppet Show's run. (She was rebuilt about midway through Season 3 I think.)
The lobster banditos made one of the greatest Swedish Chef sketches, no... one of the greatest muppet sketches ever aired. Loved it. Thank you so much for sharing it.
Too bad that there was no talk spot in this episode with Madeline Kahn and Kermit. Kermit loved to flirt with all the female guest stars of the show's first 2 seasons!

So Gonzo has been carrying a torch for Piggy since last season? Guess he decided not to be so open about it unless he got hit again.
I'm guessing they made a Gonzo puppet with that scrunching mechanism for this episode for when Piggy punches him.
