Good, I like that you share this video Two copper wire-form hearts are shown rotating separately, then combined to form one motor. , I wish success always
Maybe we refine this information into using the earths magnetic field to produce free energy! Then channel it all into a giant radio the continuously loops ""Be Excellent To Each Other". Free energy and World Peace. Problems solved.
As teachers, you have the unique possibility of taking this to the next level...and doing it as a class project!
Perhaps if the students were told they must make one for someone else, not just for themselves, it would demonstrate the essential part of St Valentine's Day...Love. That way, the joy of making and receiving can be shared by all!
Hi dude i commented here because i got a lot of question on your other video that fascinated me a lot :) ok so can i use other wire because i can't find any copper wire at home i bought a N52 grade last night and rechargeable battery that you recommend all i need is wire. I saw your other video can i use with a hanger? i got a hanger just like yours :)
The hanger is magnetic and will be useful for hanging a battery or magnet, but is not good for making the hearts. The heart wire must be conductive but not magnetic, like copper, silver, or if you can't find those, gold will do !!
You can always tear into a wall and yank out the wiring...
(remember to turn the circuit breaker off first ;)
The homopolar motor works by the Lorentz force, which can be predicted by the right-hand rule. See wikipedia "Lorentz force" and "homopolar generator".
Normally, the rotation can be reversed by flipping over the magnet. That's hard to do in this case. However, the battery could be inverted with the + terminal at the bottom, and the rotation would reverse.
I am very happy to see the vidoe after you give this Two copper wire-form hearts are shown rotating separately, then combined to form one motor

hello! :) where do i find these magnet and these hearts-shaped stuff? Please name them so i can buy them! it's really beautiful yet so simple! :)

@SirSelfunk
There is a link in the "show more" box to my Instructable on how to make these.
Magnets can be bought online at a pace like K&J Magnetics, or you can just use a big bass speaker and some pennies like in the movie.

It could probably run faster if you used neodymium magnet the diameter of the battery:

@MrfixitRick what size of copper are those?
uSee218 1 year ago
@uSee218
I used 8 gage solid copper wire. You can use as thin as 18 gage and it will still work. I went as thick as practically possible.

More juice would giva a faster rotation right?

@GBGinmyheart
More voltage = faster rotation. More amperage = better torque.

How it occurs? Why it rotates?
Sadiya91 1 year ago
@Sadiya91
The wire heart rotates from the Lorentz effect that occurs with a current flowing in a magnetic field.
MrfixitRick 1 year ago
can you show us how it is working ??
marans77 2 years ago
@marans77
For building instructions, see my Instructable link in the "more info" box.
I works by the Lorentz force developed between the wire and the magnetic field. Google "Lorentz Force" for more info on that.
MrfixitRick 2 years ago
Why it turns to the right like a clock? and not to the left. Is there some physics principle or something? Have a nice day you all.
