@jcj1230 ....Now that I think of it...No, I do not think she was...In the beginning at least...I know that she took to green when she was healed of being cut of from the source.
If these books were turned into a movie or movies it would flop. All the "fans" would get all upset because it doesn't match their vision of the way it should be done. People that think because they read it makes them smart. Most do not understand that when transfering a story to a different type of media it will always change the story and characters slightly. My pet peve: People who always say "the book was better". They are 2 different things, you fools!!
@boognishishere if the makers of the lord of the rings were to make this into the movie i think it would be great, though it would only of been amazing if robert jordan was still alive and could put his vision into the movies.
The only problem with making movies for these books is that it absolutely has to be done right! It is so big that pieces cannot be cut out! It can't be done like the Eragon movie... I think it has to be done by Peter Jackson.
There are so many details in the books... it would be so easy to write a script and a screenplay if you read it ahd transcribed... God if only they could actually do justice to the series!
Something different is up with Padan Fain. I mean, in the beginning it was like he was a character that didn't matter much, but if even the black wind is afraid of him...? I'm curious to know what the secret is behind him.
Padan Fain... oh boy. He's a unique force of evil in the world. I suspect he's a mix of several distinct sources of evil... the dark one's taint + the black fog in that one city + the black wind.... maybe other stuff too.
Anyone else think its kinda BS that the last book is being drawn out into three? I think its a money grab... or were the transcripts for three seperate novels?
Nothing like a greedy wife and self absorbed friend to totally change what your inentions were before your death with your life work so they can make a few more bucks. Gotta love people.
Maybe make the last three books into a movie, with a new introduction and new characters for people who have never read the books. Rand could come in later, as a surprise that everyone anticipates. And then realize that Leonardo DiCaprio is playing Rand, and everybody gets up and leaves the theater lol
If they decide to make The Wheel of Time into a movie series, they'll probably combine some of the books to make it shorter. I don't think the writers have enough patience to make fourteen of them...lol.
It would be epic if they did - assuming they did a good job. If The Wheel of Time could be made as well as Lord of the Rings but one 3 hour movie per book, that would be sick... will never happen though, but it WOULD be sick. Only the movies would take as long as the dang books did.
Oh, dang, that would be spectacular! There's just so much imagery and stuff in them that it would make for a really great movie series, especially if they did it for all the books. That would be...long o_O. But because it is so long, they're probably thinking of turning it into a TV series, like they did with The Sword of Truth books. They would likely consider it to be too long for movies, and I don't think that there's a single book besides the prologue that's under 600 pages. It'd be a bummer
Don't think so, just a generic narrator. He's not a part of the story. I think it was someone who had to do with the writing of the series, though. Mordeth shows up in the game, and he doesnt sound like that.
It's a video game, not a book. There's nothing "to get." The game isn't even about the Single Player aspect, and it especially isn't about the storyline.
If you want the Wheel of Time books, go read them. They are very good. If you want to play a very good game that does slightly resemble the books, play this game.
I don't get it. Leane Sedai is the Amyrlin's right hand helper. The Keeper of the Chronicles. I assume this game follows someone completely random at a possibly different time.
Yeah I guess I should have done my research before commenting on this video lol. I looked up the storyline on gamespot and realized it was set long before the events of the book. My friend bought the game so I am excited to see how he likes it.
Considering that it was released in 1999 --almost ten years ago-- and that the game used a highly-modified version of the original Unreal game engine... It's no surprise that the graphics (even those in this pre-rendered cutscene) are below those of todays standards.
man the actors would be really hard to get, haha, there are so many characters...and some take a book or two to leave and return, etc. it would be really cool though :D
If it had the exact same plotline as the books, no one would buy it or see the movie based on WoT if there ever will be one, because all of the fascinating things like political discussions and long scenes that are fine on paper are as boring as hell on the big screen. This was a great game, I've played it, and it solves to problem of creating a system for channeling perfectly by makinh your character an abominably weak Aes Sedai. People are not reading anymore. Let the people who do continue.
I think the game is fine like it is. I mean, seriously people, if the game had the exact same plot line as the books, it would ruin the point of even writing the books. People would just buy the game and learn what happens in the books that way. The company would lose tons of money from people buying one game instead of twelve books. They would be probably make more money if they made a movie series due to the generation's loss of people that actually LIKE to read.
Oi! It's just a game set in the land of the Wheel of Time, following the mythology set forth by RJ, so stop bitching!!! Can you honestly imagine a game based on the twelve books? It would be a never ending tale!! It would just be impossible to do or would require months to play throught... and maybe a year or two. Be grateful someone did a game with the universe of the Randland!!!
This is SO fucked up. Why didn't the game developers just follow the original plot? instead they made a completely inaccurate storyline, one that made me want to vomit...
True, i may be a little to harsh for a game made in 1999, but seriously..they could have done MUCH better.
They didn't make a game of the first book because Robert Jordan himself didn't want that. He did, however, approve the storyline for the game, which is set approximately 150 years before the books.
i always thought it would be savage if when the make the movie, to have loial do the opening "The wheel of time turns...." thing. He proes a very intersting character and i think the whole him writing the book about it would lend to the story.
@Blinkerage... in the manner of all things hollywood, the movies (would have to be more than 1) would undoubtalby fall short of Jordans master piece... think Eragon...
@npschmidt90 True, but there is so much greatness in these books that even if you cut out a majority of the subplotlines it will still be awesome. Just break it down to its core melodramatic theme and the movies would be a hit. Eragon was just barely on the line of greatness, the author of Eragon pulled it off greatly, but if you think about the plot and characters of Eragon it is not that different from most other fantasy books, the setting is what is amazing about it.
@keyong97 So rumors have said, but those rumors have been in circulation for a few years now...At least ever since I started reading. Which was about 2 to 3 years ago...I hope they do. Would be nice to have some concrete evidence...Just hope it does it all justice...And doesn't cut half the stuff out.
only the begining has much anything to do with the books and he game itself is totally random stuff only a few places are the same in their. like the legion monster? where did that come from.
This animation reminds me of Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen. And wouldn't any Aes Sedai alive know about the Whitecloaks? Since when can't Alanna channel? I bet RJ is rolling in his grave.

Nope. Not even if you have a ter'angreal, because they're not owned by any one Aes Sedai; they're owned by the Tower. You have to be able to channel a significant amount to become Aes Sedai, otherwise they teach you to use it safely then turn you away, just like they did to Morgase.
But Cadsuane owns her ter'angreal because no one else knows they're ter'angreal. They were given to her by a little old woman in a hut in the Black Hills, remember? With a sufficient number of well ter'angreal, even a person of Morgase's power can pass for a strong Aes Sedai. Given time, of course.
A well ter'angreal like Cadsuane's isn't an angreal. A well ter'angreal only allows you to store more of the Power, not wield much more than you normally would be able. Bottom line is, when you're tested for the Shawl you are sent into the rings naked, so you can't have any ter'angreal, angreal,or sa'angreal with you.
