Nice video,,, But as many has pointed out Ramira is not a gastanker, she transports light oilproducts like gasoline, gasoil, kerosene.... and that stuff.
@admanphoto acording to the colregs the ferry is 2 blame 4 this, the ferry is the give way vessle and the tanker sould keep its corse and speed, and by crossing the traffic lane the ferry sould not inpeed any traffic transiting the lane
@bergeot206555 If i am not mistaken, there is a separation scheme on the river, and when some ship intends to cross it, its skipper has to ask permission from VTS controller first, and he gets it, he should keep a perpendicular course on the scheme axis. In this situation, the ferry skipper should have put his bow on the Ramira's stern, in order to avoid her. We call it "the dog's curve". If Ramira hadn't had a controlled pitch propeller, then there would have been a collision.
Investigation concludes that both vessels were 140ft apart at their closest point. I know the perspective of this video can make distances a lot smaller than reality but that is a lot closer than 140ft. Look at the back wash from the ferry. It's pretty much mixing with the Ramira's
Just a random thing that impressed me in this video though, was how quickly the Ramira came to a stop (well, almost). Very impressive to see how ship technology has advanced to that degree nowadays.
But yes, here's hoping the Ferry captain gets what they say in the UK, a bollocking. :)
The Royal Daffodil was well out of order here, Especially seeing as the Ramira was in the channel making way. She being a product carrier as well - requiring at least a 100 metre exclusion zone.
that was close

Ramira is not a gas tanker. Product tanker is the correct term.

@admanphoto According to COLREG Rule 15 the ferry should give way to Ramira, wich should keep course and speed.

@JAY132 Yep. That was some emergency stop! How long would it be 'till they got some steerage back on it. It looks quite vulnerable...
