Determining the power problem with your Dell laptop.

hey what if my laptop doesn't recognize my ac adaptor? could that cause my battery to not charge?

All you need to do is make sure the power supply works, then take the battery out and see if the laptop powers on(with power adapter only). If it doesn't then you either have a bad jack or a bad motherboard. Your motherboard is for sure bad if the green light on the power adapter shuts off after you plug it in! Good luck!

@dellpartspeople That's my problem. So what's the fix or am I stuck charging the battery's with an external charger witch is working so far with the 2 9 cell batts I have but it would be nice to plug the computer in. Cost?

I have a dell insperin 1545 and I just got a new barrtery and charger and it still wont work. I use to get a message saying not chager but it would stay on but know it wont turn on or anything can u plz hell me with this..
