I really do thing this is a lovely song but in my opinion what makes so wonderful is Cooke.
This song manages to be equal parts beautiful, hopeful, sad and depressing too.

This song wasn't played much on top 40 radio in the sixties but I remember it stopped me in my tracks when I first heard it. Today, the plaintive Sam Cooke vocal makes me cry.
