most japanese offerings in USA are crap. The high end models never make it to US making japanese car companies look like (to us americans) econobox makers. Look at some JDM and asian models, Those cars are amazing.
you can always buy an si and convert the exterior the parts are all identical as far as performance but it depends on if you really wanna spend about 4 grand on conversions
since the EP3 Type-R Civics, I just hand felt that Honda's Type-R magic is gone. The last good compact is the DC5 Type R Integra. The best Type-R with all the magic of a Type-R is the EK9, B18C5, the FF king of the hill. I've driven the FD2R, the EP3-R, FN2... they just doesn't feel right.. and handle well like the EK9... and even the CL7 Accord Euro-R feels better than those newblood Civic Type Rs...

@Tougemaster06 The Civc Si is no cheaper than the GTI in the US. The GTI is also easier to tune and is faster stock than an SI. I do not know that much about the Japanese Type R but I know it has 215 horsepower but alot less torque then a GTI. The GTI is most likely still faster and Golf R is much faster than it. The only good Honda's were the NSX and S2000.
@thefridge991 The GTI also weighs 3200lbs versus the FD2's approx weight of 2800lbs. The GTI would definitely (probably) be faster in the straights and would impress the street racing crowd, but I would like to speculate the FD2 would git its a run for its money on an actual road course. As far as NSX and S2000 being the only good Honda's, that's a bit outrageous considering Honda has a history of making top notch sports vehicles, including their infamous Civic/Integra performance hatches.

@Tougemaster06 Yeah I can agree with you regulations are bad for sporty cars. Honda has had issues with selling the Honda Civic Type R in parts of Europe because of emissions. Japans issue is that the young people in the country do not want to buy cars anymore and rather buy electronics and car sales have been going down in Japan for years. I still think the reason Honda's sales have not recovered as well as other companies is because of the loss of making sporty cars.
@Tougemaster06 Also I just checked Autotrader. The low mileage Toyota Supra's were almost $50,000. I know the car was nice 15 years ago but I do not think it would be worth that much now. You could get a BMW 1 series M that would blow the Supra out of water and it is still in warranty because it is new.
Too bad they couldn't have done a spec'd down LHD version of the R chassis, same body and rigidity and everything but with less aggressive suspension and the K20 that would normally be found in the Si sedan because that would keep costs down and the average buyer satisfied leaving a strong platform for the enthusiast to mod if they desired.

the fun thing about this car is that you can drive with your revs at the top end in 2nd and 3rd without going excessively fast. i have a z and the gearing is so tall that the top of 3rd is over 100mph and thats way too fast for the touge. the sound and feel of a honda motor at 8000rpm is half the fun

That is true it is a very small market for one of these. Most Honda enthusiast wouldn't be willing to shell out 30k+ for a Civic. I guess I really want one because I can't have one here in the US. But if it were to sell here for 32-35k I would have a hard time not buying an Evo/STI instead.

It all depends on what you intend to use it for. There's different suspensions for different applications. Of course, you probably already know this being that you used to have a mitsubishi.

Yeah, Greddy, HKS, and Vortex has turbo chargers for S2K but the Vortex unit I believe is a supercharger unit, But theirs more brands dat carries them I know, but those are da ones I know 4 sho got em, but da white rims gone be off da chain on da S2K tho. good luck on ur build man, and Im lookin forward to some videos when u get her all fixed up..

Hahaha yeah a little, go out and look for a cheapy on ebay, or at a advanced auto or napa or something like that. A new light weight steering wheel shouldnt cost you that much, but you need a steering wheen puller though which may cost you more then what it's worth .

It all depends on what you intend to use it for. There's different suspensions for different applications. Of course, you probably already know this being that you used to have a mitsubishi.
