I think the Shujinko must've been poisoned by the collective evil from people like Quan Chi and Shang Tsung, cause theres no way he would've done that.

shujinko is the protagonist introduced in deception. notice that his name is actually a japanese term meaning "leading character of the story".

he is an ordinary warrior who starts out as a teenager in deception and spent 40 years looking for the kamidogu, believing that he was working for a greater good for the elder gods, but soon learned that damashi was actually onaga... for as damashi is a term meaning "one who deceives"
