  • i used a wrench to loosen the nut i didnt scratch anything and i found it a bit easier and safer than the screwdriver

  • The cars nowadays don't have power antennas.

  • I just pulled my old antenna out but the new one is not feeding in. Would this be a motor problem?

  • Thank you so much! This totally helped with my Celica!

  • Hey, i was just wondering if i were to remove the antenna and not replace it with a new one, would this have some sort of side effect..seeing as though i don't actually listen to the radio while driving?

  • thank u for this video. Takes the guess work out of it for me.

  • I thought that it not going in all the way was normal on my grandmother's Concorde.

  • thanks for the video !

  • Thanks for the video, really needed the info on how to do this before i broke something. Would you have any idea where i would be able to purchase a spare antenna for my Honda?

  • Thank you so much for the guide on how to do this! This video was invaluable to me replacing the power antenna on my 1993 Acura Integra LS. NOTE: I had broken pieces of antenna and track in my motor, so I had to completely remove it and remove metal cover on it that let me get to the rest of the antenna pieces. Wasn't as bad as I thought it would be =) The only PITA was removing trunk plastics. Be careful, don't snap your tabs!

  • Hi great video. Can you please tell me if this method works for a Volvo C70 aerial

  • Where did you buy the spare antenna?

  • I order and antenna for my 1996 Lexus ES300, same kind of process. The antenna mast was broken and needs to be replace.

  • hey i have a ? my antenna got broken off and im trying to do what you did and it dosnt work the antenna is stuck in the car

  • i was wondering if you can do a video of removing an antenna for a 1989 accord dx please?

  • Thanks for the video. As it happened, I needed to get into the motor to retrieve the broken end. My antenna is once again functioning as it should- silently.

  • @acccord I like the layout of your videos!(: Where would i be ble to get that white strip that you said wears out? I just got a 94accord lx and im trying to fix even the little things in it. This would be the same to fix mine with right?

  • very helpful, I figured remove that silver nut, but the feeding technique helped wonders.

also, they sell antenna wrenches (easier than using just a flathead, and paint safe), I got mine from Northern for $15, but they can be found online for <$10 on amazon

  • My problem seems to be the antenna is making grinding noises and won't go down all the way. It only just recently started doing this - we had a REALLY cold and wet winter, and that's when it started, and it hasn't gone back to normal since then. I'm going to go down in a bit and see if I can pull the antenna up and out this way. I wonder if the teeth on the mast are just no good? Hoping it's not the motor. The process to unplug it seems much more involved...

    Thanks!

  • Great Video : )

  • Anti-clockwise....r u serious....wow.

  • I believe the seradded cord is stuck in the motor from the old antenna, how do I get this out?

  • @betrapvideos hi, your going to have to go into your boot/trunk area, pull back the fabric and lining to get access to the antenna motor. U have to remove the antenna motor itself and open it up to remove the piece of cable. there will be a small nut at the bottom of the motor, unscew it and remove the motor...once u get it out u need to remove a few screws on the face of the motor so you can take the plastic plate off and gain access to stuck cable..it sounds more complicated than it is, gluck

  • I DID ALL OF YOUR STEPS BUT ONCE I HAD pulled the antenna out, the toothed cord never came out with it and I believe it's still stuck in the motor, how can I get it out...or just I just go ahead and feed the new antenna with the old cord stuck in there?

  • Okay, I followed all you steps...I gave a 1990 Maxima by the way....once I got to the part were I had someone turn on the radio and I pull the antenna out, the white tooth cord thing never came out with it and is still stuck in there because only 1/5 of it is still connected to the antenna...and there is still a loud grinding noise when I turn the radio on and off, even with the antenna out...I NEED YOUR HELP!

  • I did exactly what you said and it worked perfect! Thanks for the video, I would have had no clue and I almost took the motor out of the car and completely apart. Your video is money!

  • where did you buy your mast at?

  • Thank you!!!!....... I can't wait till I attempt this process! It appears very do-able!!

  • thanks for watchin!

  • Hey,

    Thanks for the vid!!!

Just wanted to know if i can do this with the Prelude 4th gen.

It makes those banging noises u talked about and i just wanted to confirm that this can be done on my car. If so, then im going to get a mast asap. haha.

I've about had enough of people turning around with a look of disgust when I turn on the radio.

    Many thanks.

  • Yeah mate exactly the same. The Mast and motor used in the 4th gen prelude is exactly the same as the one used in the 90-97 accord...ariels just on the opposite side thats all

  • Thank u very much my friend.

U've helped me out a lot.

I'm out to get a mast right now!

Keep doing what ur doing n have a good new year m8.

  • thanks mate u too

  • Thanks for this video, I need to replace the on on my DC4 and was about to buy a whole new power antenna assembly. The motor still runs, I can hear it. Now I know all I need is a new mast and its THAT easy!

  • I need help, I have a 1990 Maxima, and my antenna stopped working over a year ago, I hear the motor but the antenna doenst move, okay i was cool with that, I got my car painted and now it makes a LOUD hidious screaching noise, and I want it fixed ! but im scared Lol...but please help, idk if i should pull like you said or should i can i do something like disconnecting the motor instead so i wouldnt have to hear the noise anymore and the antenna just stay up?

  • yeah just disconnect the motor. Go into your boot area, pull the trim back, locate the motor, and simply uplug the connector

  • I have a toyota camry and the antenna extends then makes a loud grinding noise. Are the teeth on the mast strip causing the noise and I just need to replace the mast like you did?

  • yes replace the mast first, that should solve the problem- otherwise its your motor thats worn

  • The teeth facing back of the auto when feeding it...

is this STANDARD on all autos? I need to do Mitsubishi Diamante

Is this wonderful video of yours going to be of assistance to me?

  • Im not sure about mitsubishi, i only know its standard for the teeth to face the rear on hondas...here's what you can do, when your removing the old antenna take a look at what direction the teeth are facing as your pulling it out, hope that helps

  • does this also work if my antennae broke and is stuck in the fully extended position? i'm not quite sure if it's the motor or the mast itself. i hear the motor running when i turn off the radio. but my antennae doesn't retract. what do i do?

  • if you hear your motor running but the antenna doesnt move at all, more than likley the antenna cable (the white toothed cable) has broken off the antenna mast and is stuck in the motor, if thats the case ,you need to remove the motor from the car, open it up and get the broken cable out, but its a little more complicated than it sounds. hope that helps

  • but what if i have an extra full antennae/motor. how do i remvoe the whole previous one?

  • well it depends on what car youve got. 1st remove the antenna nut then try get the old mast out , next, go into your boot area and remove/pull back the trim covering the motor until you can see the antenna motor, on the bottom of the motor there will be a nut or bracket, remove that nut, unplug all wires/cables that are attatched to the motor, then slowly take it out, installing the new one is reverse of removal

  • This is a helpful video....but was wondering is where do I find this piece without having to order the whole housing? Or is this the technical term for the item?

  • the piece is called an "antenna mast", you might be able to buy it from your dealer, honda does sell replacement masts but other manufacturers only sell the full assembly, try ebay, they sell masts for all types of cars.

  • This is a VERY helpful video! but i did it and let the antenna go up and down like ten time but it doesnt go all the way up and/or down it just makes "click" noises..any suggestions? thanks!

  • Glad u liked the vid, hmm sounds like parts of ur mast have corroded to the top of the antenna tube (very common), the gears of the antenna motor are just skipping the teeth on the mast and thats why you can hear the clicking. Its very difficult to break the rust bond so just be forceful and rip the old mast out. Hope that helps

  • so what am i suppose to pull? am i pulling whatever you said from the new or old antenna? or do u think there is something stuck in the motor? thanks

  • Turn your radio on, wait till the motor stops, then grip the actual antenna mast and try pulling it out (it doesnt matter if the antenna doesnt fully extended) in older cars, a small part of the antenna known as the retaining sleeve (u can see me push it down into the hole at 2.24) gets stuck in the hole and makes the job of removing the old antenna seem imossible no matter how hard u try. its a very common prob. the key here is to be forceful

  • Alright thanks man! I appreciate it.
