On 5th of July 1938 the Turkish army conquered Antioch (and the province of Hatay). After eleven months, by a referendum and vote of Hatay Assembly it joined the Turkish Republic, ergo long after these pictures were taken, at the time in the province of Syria.
Turkish army didn't conquer Hatay. it is known that mustafa kemal atatürk was not able to see the joining of hatay to the motherlandand he died in november the 10th. On the other hand there were no counrty called syria before the french retreated, however, syria is standing best among other arab states against the americans so thats a good thing.
Good Idea and nice old photographs..

Search for photos in old books about the subject, or in antique shops/flea markets. You might also find interesting old postcards.
