No 7 is easily the best modernist piano music I have heard. The most interesting aspect of it to me is that fact that the extensive drones make the piece almost tonal in some sections, at least to the extent that you have a continuous reference point for the rest of the pitch material. Also the fairly sparse texture emphasizes the quality of each sound individually, reminds me of Arvo Part in this regard.
