i saw a picture or dinah on wikipedia from 1990 she didnt look old at all

There aren't enough posts of Dinah. I've seen her in enough old movies on TCM to realize she was more than the woman on the 1970's talk show that I grew up with. Thank you!

This song is from the Disney film (now, never seen) Song of the South.

It was sung by James Baskett (who played Uncle Remus in the film)

to the character of the cook, Aunt Tempy, played by the great Hattie McDaniel.

This is a wonderful little number, such a smooth and soulful voice. Well, reading the synopsis, I'm perplexed as to why such an exceptional voice could have been turned away!

Dinah not only overcame the rejection of the Band Leaders to find success... As a small child she overcame Polio - proving that she was a real fighter...Dinah rightly belongs in the Pantheon of great female singers of the 1940's 50's & 60's.
