That's cause it's an old video with a bad quality camera. A) it sounds better in person, B) it's been broken in so it sounds alot better. Especially since I put the K&N Short Ram Intake on it, fills in the empty sound of just the muffler.
The reason it doesn't sound as good as it should is because the muffler I ordered is intended for a Mustang V8 and my car doesn't have the power to properly flow the air through it. And therefore it has way too much backpressure and doesn't sound as good as a Flowmaster 60 series would have.
No it fit cause the housing is the correct size it's just the way the airflow is designed to go through this muffler is meant for a higher power V8, and I actually got it wrong, I don't have enough backpressure for this muffler. But it still sounds good, I wasn't going for anything really loud, just something that would give me a deeper and slightly louder sound which I achieved. And I don't over mod it cause this car is my daily driver and I still have a bit to pay on the loan I have on it.
an besides, magnaflow doesn't sound any better, it sounds high pitched revving up and has the ricery sound going back down, it sounds really bad in my opinion. There's a video of a 3g GS with one on here if you wanna hear what I mean.
I think the baffling in the muffler is what causes it to gargle back down. But I still like the sound of it all around, and it's a bit louder than my friend's Dynomax.
I'm getting a K&N typhoon short ram air for it soon that will make it sound a little bit better. Might not get rid of the gurgle when it idles back down but it will be a little bit louder, And yea Dynomax ultraflow is an excellent muffler for the 3g 4cyls, my friend has an 02 with one on his with the same intake that I'll be getting and his sounds amazing, it doesn't gargle back down either. I just didn't want the exact same thing as he did, so I went with the Flowmaster.
I'm workin on finding a backroad that's straight and that I know there will be no cops. When I find one I'll have the video posted asap. But until I find one I'll just have to wait.
well thats up to you but Backroads dont produce Timeslips. I havent ran my car in bout a Year but I'm gonna fire it up next weekend and run it at the Ennis tx quartermile for the hell of it. (I'll feel like a Jackass btw) however I AM a fan of "race what ya brought" thats why I love the local 1/8 mile track. I love the cars that show up. But I'ma bring my camera and end the curiosity for the hell of it. Take my lil 16second rape like a man lol. I'll post it too. May as well.
Um I don't have an intake on my car but nice try. And if you like the sound that a round muffler gives then that's why you don't like the sound of a flowmaster. I wasn't going for an obnoxiously loud sound that a round muffler gives you, that's why mine is deeper than say an apexi N1 but a little bit more quiet. But thanks for the input.
