The relentless quality of this song is almost hypnotic. What a great back beat. I cannot understand why this song did not catch on because it is so appealing. For certain, if you are listening to this song you are tapping your foot at the very least. Of course, ABBA's worst is anyone else's best in my opinion.
@Halo101st how good are abba. it's so simple there b song's where better than their a song's. And their a song's are pop classic's. Long live your music so much part of my life and youth. And so many wonderful interpretation's of your music.
@fay1961934 Well said, Fay. When I go through the radio stations in my car looking for something worth listening to, I find myself looking back to those days when FM was new and all the music was great... and you could understand what was being sung. I miss those days badly.
@fay1961934 ABBA's Gold Album should have contained 50 songs. Songs such as `I am the City` and `Hole in your sole` would be far greatly recognised and played at birthday parties and other events like the songs in the gold album are today. `Soldiers` is also a very powerful song, probably level with `The winner takes it all` in my opinion. Lots of politics involved in that song and the world is full of it.
I like both the original song beat and this 1. But this 1 is a lot peppier than the original song. I know this song is faster and is in Stero, but this version gives me more energy.
I just wished to God that ABBA would've done videos of these songs before they broke up. :(
Great job with the video. You might be interested in seeing my version of a video for this song. Mine is the original version of the one which was 'ripped' from my page and posted as the work of Morsayo!!!!! On my page you will find the original and a much better quality version too. Please look and enjoy. RJS
just another example of why this group disbanded way to soon. If given a chance, America could have respected them like the rest of thy world did. I have loved and replayed ABBA all my life, but until MAMA MIA hit, I was ridiculed. This unheard music is the reason I am vindicated. ABBA forever.
This sounds COMPLETELY different from The Visitors tracks and The Day Before You Came....Sounds must more upbeat and happy again...But I guess they were not. But great song!
Though the song is 26 years old, it still sounds current today. Your treatment of the remix is simply wonderful, and the video is too cool. Not sure why ABBA didn't feel this one would work back then but I'm glad they eventually did release it on More ABBA Gold.
Bjorn & Benny would always say they did not feel right about curtain tracks and not release it or take parts of the song and put in another song such as Under Attack,Does Your Mother Know and so on. Why? I'm sure hidden in a vault there are more hidden tracks never mentioned before. Look how many times Paul has given permission about lost tracks from the Beatles. Maybe it's time while B&B are still with us to release these very rare tracks.
Abba-biographer Carl-Magnus Palm has a great webb-site where you can read a lot about Abba. He has written several books on Abba and one about Benny. He also was involved in finding the unreleased songs while researching for his book "complete recording sessions" and was together with Björn and Benny when they first listened to the old tapes. You can read about that, chapters from the books, Q/A-sections etc. etc. carlmagnuspalmcom.
In 1984 ABBA released I LOVE ABBA for the U.S. market and on that album they released CASSANDRA & SHOULD I LAUGH OR CRY, B&B should've released I AM THE CITY as a U.S. sinlge at the time. It would have done very well on the charts.
This 80's synthesizer dance-track was indeed a product of its' time and could very well have put ABBA back on the charts. IN 1982 this was the latest thing. Remember that 80's music changed from year to year in arrangement. There's a big difference between how this would sound in 1983 than in 1982, provided the heavy use of the YAMAHA Dx-7 a year later. (it became mainstream)
"Shay-Fi" indeed. Shay's audio always sounds great and it's a cool video. I'm hooked on this song now. I wasn't crazy about their 80's music at the time, and now I love all of it.
This is up there with anything abba did.I discovered this track the other day and it was such a happy suprise, why this wasn't their final release i dont know,it knocks away the day before you came and under attack.Nice to hear the girls letting rip on their ranges.
I read DW originally was not released because Benny and Bjorn weren't satisfied with it, so they used a part of it for Does Your Mother Know. After V-V was released, they went back and worked on DW, and later released it in the 90s. Personally, I think DW is better than Does Your Mother Know.
Great song! The relentless beat combined with the ABBA ladies voice's cannot be beat. Too bad there is all the psychedelic-like crap instead of ABBA in the video.
That I don't know but I do want to say big kudos to your Hamlet complete. AMAZING. Thank You. This was done by a friend Philippe DuPont and audio kicked up by my other friend Shay. I Love listening to it while driving to work. Peace!
I really like this song. It reminds me of my vacations to Vegas. Plus, its peppy enough to give a much needed energy burst on a dreary day while at work. Thanks for posting it.
I never liked the song. But the video is great and really fits the different arrangement. I´m always thankful for unreleased songs from abba or good remixes. So thanks for posting 7ABBA7. Great. :-)
so futuristic !!!..Love it :-)
GO ABBA !!!

Schade, daß dieser Song offiziell nie veröffentlich wurde... Das wäre bestimmt wieder ein Hit für ABBA geworden, damals...

This sounds very in synch with the times back in the early 80´s, with a very synthesised background. One of my faves.

I agree. This song, plus "Dream World" and "Just Like That". All three songs are probably the best ABBA songs of all time.
mrshinyshoes 3 years ago 3
Yeah, considering that JLT and DW were unfinished they still knock spots off anything around now.was dreamworld from the Voulez Vous out-takes?

THE DAY BEFORE YOU CAME and UNDER ATTACK are GREAT SONGS, BOTH of them.
But i think they should have been release mini album or something like that with all 6 1982 songs on it.
