@metube555 We will be in the Los Angeles area sometime in August though at this point no dates have been set. My brother Lyle is getting married and they have not yet finalized their plans. I am certainly looking forward to coming home for a bit. -Kurt :-)
@BraLadyJapan I just shared your comment with Emily. You made her smile! Thank you very much for watching and commenting. I really like your channel by the way and am looking forward to any new videos you might upload! -Kurt :-)
So adorable! I agree with Skajo and TiramisuHappy, it would be interesting to see her interacting with more from both sides. If she ever has any English classes, she's got an amazing head start.
O.o I wonder what dried squid jerky tastes like. It sounds tasty!
Hello Kat, We're talking about going back to California for summer 2010 in which case I will be sure to take the camera. As for the squid jerky it has a taste similar to salty chewing gum (that's probably no help is it?). I love it...especially with beer! Now I'm thinking I need to get some beer and squid on the way home from work tonight. I wish that I could share it with you. If you and hubby come to Japan some time let's all get together for a beer/squid party and talk like pirates! -Kurt :-)
Hello sellout101, Thank you VERY much for pointing this out. I have changed the title and tags in order to prevent this association. Thank you very much again! I was a little hesitant with my first title though went with it as it was what Emily and I were calling the toy. I guess that I didn't think well about the implications. Thanks again! -Kurt :-)
Her grandparents look awesome, there was something very cool about seeing what they do when they are just at home. That looks like a beautiful lifestyle.
Hello 6663000, Whenever we have dinner at the grandparent's house I always just sit and soak up the ambiance which is really from another time in Japan. I know that these moments won't last forever and I am grateful for each evening we share. I'm glad that you could see a bit of this and delighted that you share my sense of wonder at such a simple setting. Thanks for watching and commenting. -Kurt :-)
Hello yozka, These old water heaters are indeed cool and are rather rare to see anymore in Japan though they were once a common houshold item. I love watching grandpa sipping his sake between goes at the firewood on the floor with his old style Japanese hatchet. Thanks for watching and commenting! -Kurt :-)
Guess you guys aren't coming to America any time soon. :(
I'd love to see a vid of you and family back in America on vacation from the perspective of a man from American who lives in Japan. Haha, just to bring this documentary full circle. xD
I was just thinking that myself. I'd LOVE to see Emily getting in touch and interacting with the other half of her identity (other than just having a casual conversation in broken English from time to time.) I'm not saying it's necessarily a good or bad thing, but the reality is the more she stays out of contact with her American family, the more it becomes "foreign" to her. It's just a natural progression of growing up as a kid. Believe me, I've seen it happen firsthand, including myself. : (
Hello Skaijo, Thank for the excellent suggestion. We were back in the USA last year and it was indeed really interesting and fun to watch Emily interacting with kids her age and using English with native speakers. I agree that I should try to capture more of these moments which I am certain Emily will enjoy watching when she gets older. Thank you for the suggestion! -Kurt :-)

you might want to change up your tags on this video because the "related videos" are very raunchy.
