My 98 3.8 V6 wit 230k miles is way more reliable then a GT. of course i know GT is WAY faster then V6 but they require more maintainence.

I've only had to replace the alternator once and i recently put in a thermostat and Water pump. Other than that the car has been flawless since I've had it

my Australian built 1999 AU XR8 5 speed shared the same motor as these stangs..cept australia used the motor till 2001 so between 1994-2001 australia made the most powerful versions of these motors in the aussie made Falcon..great motor if anyone wants to see what became from america..type in Ford Falcon TE50..they were a stroked 5.6litre windsor..250kw (not sure in BHP) made in 2001 and can almost outrun the 6.0litre thats in the new Holden VE/Commodore SS/ Pontiac whatever it is

That's true, but looks and styling matter too. Camaro solidly outperformed Mustang from 94 to 2003, but Mustang outsold Camaro and Firebird combined. Same for the GTO later. This was because of the way the Mustang looked and it was a more user friendly design. We'll see how it goes with the new Camaro and Mustang. PS I'd buy a Camaro any day over an acura or honda.

The alternative for Ford was get rid of the Mustang and go with the Probe, which almost happened. The car had one problem after the other starting with the convertible top malfunctioning, moving on to the transmission, then the Mach 360 cdplayer stopped working, followed by the speakers blowing out, then the AC went followed by my power seat not working properly and the leather started to crack withing 3 years of ownership. There is not nearly enough space to go into all of it so let me just say, Fuck Ford!
