Actually, It is the reverse . The skin is full of electrostatic charges . it interfere with the 3G. The signal still go and come to the iphone but the iphone interpret the interference as a drop in reception.

For the other part you right , The Skin in contact with the metal around is the problem.

Bad choice from Apple to make not only a areal design like this but the metal too

it have comed a new model of iphone 4, iphone 4 verzion is better for the antenna problem and more protected for the front of the phone. you can see that because it is less shinny, but stil cool

The issue doesnt apply in Hong Kong. I just went to the store and messed with the iPhone there. i connected the circuit and there was no reception drop, and i held my finger there for about a minute.

@fallblog13 it happens with all phones. theyre all the same. however, its most likely that in your case you started with a full and good connection and did experience a drop but the drop was not displayed on the bars. this is because the difference between the 4th and 5th bars is much greater than 3rd + 4th, 2nd + 3rd etc. as the bars get smaller, the difference in signal strength between them gets smaller. each bar does not count as one 5th.

i swear to may people complain about this when it is NOT even that big of a deal. As you can see from that video you have to full on palm the iphone in order for the reception to go down. Who the hell palms the entire phone?! I don't, its not even comfortable. haha

I'm Right handed so it doesn't effect me. When my fingers touch the left side of the phone, nothing happens. The signals only drops if i hold the phone w/ my left hand, as my palm is touching its left side. So, it's not a prob.  You should get a clear case to protect your toy anyway. I like yr post the most b/c ur possitive! Thanks!

Not that this really matters because I know what you're trying to say...but your SKIN is actually a really conductor of ELECTRICITY...it's also a good RADIO WAVE disruptor. I know, I'm a nerd for knowing this.

@Axle1324 I've actually researched this also, and the skin on your hands is a terrible conductor of electricity because it is typically dry, unless you have sweaty palms. The only reason skin on any other part of your body would be a good conductor is if it was damp or had a decent amount of moisture on top of it because your actual skin is not a good conductor; however water is. And you are right this doesn't really matter because either way, your skin disrupts the reception.

@hallal55 No there is not, you have to have a old iBoot/Bootrom 3G[s], and you have to be able to downgrade to 3.1.2, and use a Mac. It's all in the video.
