  • Damn, Rose is really being a dick here.

  • none of the manson family who participated in the killings are out on parole.

  • Thank You DORIS TATE. RIP

  • Not Charlie's finest hour. Polanski deserved better.

  • fortunately that psychopath is dead n get the fak man !!ur looser ass wont be even ever close to that guy's talent and the way he's been to the US cinema French one and Polish.

Before u write or post something down on the wall little cockroach, think twice n stop behaving like a retard, get the life finally..

  • 2 X Manson family members are out on parole. See the film ROMAN POLANSKI, WANTED & DESIRED. Why is this poor man still exiled from Hollywood?

  • hey, this is really great.

i love roman polanski, thank u very much for posing...

can u say me on what day and in wich year it is...?

  • This guy directed Chinatown...that's it for me; nothing else matters.

  • Polanski is a lot like Michael Jackson, he's personally a weird guy and people dislike him intensely.

But it doesn't affect how fucking brillant Chinatown and Thriller really are.

  • One of the best directors in history. Damn... He make me proud that I'm Polish.

    Chylę czoła panie Polański.

    btw. thx, for posting this

  • przyłączam się kolego :)

  • Charlie Rouse is a non person who landed a job interviewing people on Network TV in the 80's... He is like Our Richard and Judy guy... No real grasp of who he is dealing with... Zappa smoked his ass on Nightline in the 80's.

Polanski isn't perfect, either, but his films have more humility than most of his contemporaries.

  • i don't know, bongoli, i wouldn't be so hard on Rose. i think he's great because sometimes he's reverent and sometimes it sounds as though he's regurgitating what some of his outspoken friends have said in conversation to his subject. he comes off kinda folksy and lame sometimes, but that's better than being smarmy and crass a la Dick Cavett. i think guests like both hosts because they'll dog em from a point of respect and patient listening. Rose gets to a lot sometimes using just a little.

  • I agree... I'd rather have him than Cavett ANYTIME.

  • He is us and we are Him.

  • Rose is obnoxious. Here he suggests Chinatown is far superior to all the director's other films as if it's a given. Macbeth, Rosemary's Baby, Cul de Sac, The Tenant & Frantic get better with each viewing, & have more substance than Chinatown. Often a first viewing is not enough to appreciate the depth. Rose has merely a cursory knowledge of Polanski and it shows. To top it off he doesn't know when to shut up. Quite rude.

  • How could this guy ask Roman Polanski: 'What would you have done differently about your life'?? What a schmuck!

  • See the new documentary "Roman Polanski: Wanted and Desired" in theaters July 2008!

  • does anyone know what year this interview was conducted in?

  • I wonder too, when is this interview from?

  • This aired in March of 2000, around the time of the release of The Ninth Gate.

  • Uwielbiam tego reżysera

  • Teh story was the 13 year old girl's mother wanted her to have sex with Polanski because she thought he would make her daughter a star and when that didn't happened, she went to the police. Polanski was set up. Everyone in Hollywood knew he was a party monster/player and a great director. WHY DID THE MOTHER LEAVE HER DAUGHTER ALONE WITH A MAN WITH THAT KIND OF REPUTATION?!?

  • Even if the mother was sick and wanted him to have sex with her, he did it, and he wasn't forced to...Men like this never change, he's just a womanizer and a sex offender, all rolled into one.

  • She was sick because it was a plot by her greedy no good ass to take advantnage of a sicko by using her own daughter for advancement her and her own daughter's career. EVERYONE in Hollywood knew Pol-ski was a party monster who loved to screw young girls, EVERYONE KNEW THIS and THEY LOVED HIM because he is a fucking good director. The mother is just as sick for putting her daughter in an uncompromising position. Don't just blame Pol-ski blame the mother as well.

  • I never said the mother wasn't sick, I have no clue. What I do know is that it is TOTALLY the fault of an adult who decides to screw a 13 year old. He is responsible for his own actions.

If someone put a 13 year old in front of me, I would not sleep with him, even if some demented person asked me to, because I'm not a child molestor. Apparently, he is and that's his fault and nobody elses.

The mother should not have allowed it, agreed, but that doesn't mean he's not totally responsible.

  • and you failed to mention that it is also the fault of the adult to leave her child ALONE with a child molester! True, Pol-ski should have never did what he did but the MOTHER should have known better. You wouldn't place your child in a lion's pit knowing that child can be attacked. Where is the mother's common sense? Though it was wrong for Pol-ski to behave and take advantage of the child (that i agree), the mother is no better for ALLOWING THAT to happen by LEAVING her child ALONE with him!

  • Actually, I didn't fail to mention that, I put it in two posts.

  • has it ever occurred to you fuckers that Charlie may not like this guy because he raped a 13-year-old girl and fled the fucking country?

  • Charlie rose is a fucking cunt. I have never seen him conduct an interview with any knowledge of his subject. Fucking hack motherfucker.

  • I always liked the c.r show, but I have to agree w/ you on this comepletely.

It was ridiculous for him to focus so heavily on these things and as common as always w/polanski.

Far more interesting would have been to even just hear a list of favorite films from roman.

And certainly more on filmaking, since that is what he does...

Yeah, it was pretty silly this interview, but polanski did try his best to get off those topics, to no avail sadly!

  • Funny to see how people watch interviews of Polanski only for crusty details of his life, details they know by heart but of which they can't get enough... What about the small part of the interview when he talks about how difficult it is to make a movie? Isn't it the most interesting part of the interview? As I read in another comment, we still have Polanski... Let's ask him about his cinema rather than making his biography and psychoanalyzing him in front of him when we're not qualified for it.

  • that was a painful moment to watch when Rose immediatley jumped to Rosemary's baby after Repulsion and completely skipped over 2 terrific polanski films, Cul-de-sac and vampire killers. He obviously knows nothing about Roman's films.

  • "most teenagers now from 13 to 18 are having sex."

yea but they all do it with some immature jock gangsta wannabe 15yr olds not even a mature well adjusted guy in his 20s like me/.

  • handiman when I went to Poland they didnt want to go out at me either (13 yr olds and my cousins friends) and my fmaily didnt let me either, and on top of that no one my age I knew or heard of did there and Im only 23.

  • póknij się w czółko z łaski swojej, Mafio!

  • Yes, the questions are uninspired, uninformed and insincere: it's obvious Rose has little or no interest in Polanski. His histrionic gestures, face-pulling, and journalistic head-cocking is becoming tired act. Rose has the scent of a poisonous thistle.

  • Charlie Rose is such a moron, his questions are so shallow and uninformed, and he makes that stupid face the entire time. He obviously hasn't even seen Polanski's films, just checked their imdb ratings, ugh...

  • Mr. Polanski is not American; therefore he does not understand the hypocracy and duplicity that exists here regarding sex or morality in general. Europeans are far more sophisticated and worldly than Americans. Americans do not understand Europeans either. What could be more predictable than confusion between the two. I saw a film clip of the girl Mr. Polanski had sex with. She seemed quite normal and well adjusted. So much for sex at 13.

  • Yeah, no.

13 is too young. I've met many well adjusted and intelligent and perfectly mature 13 year olds (and while they are the extreme rarity) they're still too underdeveloped, physically speaking (brain wise) to fully encapsulate the psychological consequences of sex.

Strictly speaking 45 might be too young for sex, since most people seem to fuck it up anyhow.

    -Qes

  • If "sophistication" means 13 year olds have sex with 30 or 40 something year old men, then I'm glad to be a backward hick American...

"I don't think of Sharon that often", I realize it was almost 40 years ago, but that's a cold thing to say. He didn't deserve her anyway. Poor girl.

  • As per Polanski, he is clearly fed up with USA. An American murdered his wife. An American judge almost sent him to jail for 50 years. The judge watched his movies and found them deploring, then saw it as a proof of Polanski's guilt and tried to punish Polanski for it. And he would do it. Polanski finds American press invasive, and refuses to deal with it. He wants to live in Paris, amidst his friends and family. It was not right to flee justice in 1977, but his attitude today makes sense to me.

  • He raped that girl. He admitted it. Your right. He is better off in France cause if he lays foot in the US they'll put him in jail. He is a statutory rapist. His behavior in that regard is contemptible & almost beyond redemption. He'll still get his movies made & distributed in America. He's a good Director but I only feel sorry for him because his wife was murdered brutally; a wife he cheated on repeatedly. He's better off in France where they might find his transgressions normal.

  • who are you to pass judgment on another human being? you could not shine his shoes!

    or mine

  • He admitted it? Where? When? I've never heard that before. He's admitted to having sex with her.

He cheated on his wife? How do you know? Why do you care? Why does it matter?

  • Yes he admitted to having sex with the the 13 year old girl and he admiotted cheating on his wife. He admitted it on A&E Biography, the E true hollywood story, and what's more it's a matter of common knowledge. And it's obvious from your sequence of questions that you're a fucking half-wit and a moron. Go listen to the White Album pecker breath.

  • According to the victim's grand jury testimony, it wasn't even statutory rape. It was flat-out forcible rape.

  • Actually, Americans did murder his wfe, who was also AMERICAN. Murders happen everywhere, the Manson family does not represent American nor Americans, and most American loathe them for what they did. And an American judge almost sent him to prison cause he raped a 13 year old girl, so he kinda deserved that one.

  • Something is fishy about that alleged rape. I do believe that they had sex, which on its own might be problematic as she was only 13. But I don't entirely buy the parts where she claims it was not consensual. I think her mother over-reacted, and the daughter made up parts of the story to make herself look less guilty. If it was truly rape, why is the victim now so lenient on Polanski? Why did she even agree to a plea bargain where he would serve no prison time? A bit of bad conscience there?

  • Americans love that smear term "child molestor" without even looking at the true damage done, real or unreal. Neither the parents or the girl he had sex with wanted to continue prosecution against him YEARS AGO so what's with this obessive continuous persecution of this guy? America needs to grow up.

  • Great interview. Thanks a lot for posting it!

  • He molested a child and deserves to serve prison time. Anyone who thinks what he did wasnt wrong is no better than he is.

  • macj ja tez jestme Polakiem i jak do Polski jezdze spotykam sie z 13 latkami czy okolo tyle laski z gadu gadu z miasta gdze zostaje, fajnie bo w Poslce internet ine jest moniterowany. A wogle polacy to prawie wsyzscy kochaja mlode.

  • ...he did photograph young nude girls and there was speculation he was sleeping w/ girls as young as 11, I wonder hwo eh got them to do it though.

  • well, if there was speculation it must be true then!

  • Polanski is a wonderful interviewee. Thanks for posting this video.

  • He is so gifted and intelligent!!! A remarkable Artist.

  • He's also a child molester

  • He had sex with a 13 year old.

my grandmother was 14 when she got married to grampa.

    this girl was sexually active.

most teenagers now from 13 to 18 are having sex.

your daughter will be no exception.

probably fucking out of bith pants legs.

that is the reality of the human race.

    teenagers like to fuck.

  • Thank you so much for this video. Wonderful interview that I missed on television. So I truly appeciate you adding it to YOU TUBE.

    Peace

  • great to hear him talk about that "dream project" which turned out to be the pianist.

  • charlies questions are kinda boring. seems all interviewers ask these same questions. ..yawn.

i guess thats why romans hitting the sauce.

  • leave his personal life aside and just notice his passion for his life and his films.

  • As far as the 13-year-old girl he raped is concerned, it doesn't come down to whatever the press said or didn't say. The fact remains that he himself pled guilty and fled the USA. What's more, he didn't do his time at all. He hightailed it out of the States. What an evasive sociopath he is.

  • The only reason why you want to tear-up Polanski is because he's a Polish Jew.

    Valkyrie Ziege Mourne

  • Jew gotta be kidding me!

  • He is POLISH listean what he say !! and what he is fealing !!

Polish director ! no french no jew no american , only polish

  • I think you need to consult your language translator, your message is poorly translated, and therefor you haven't correctly comprehended my message entries.

    Valkyrie Ziege Mourne

  • Doesnt matter . Polański is Polish director and this is most important.

A ty glupiutki amerykańcu znasz tylko jeden język matołku.

  • Thousands of people plead guilty to various 'crimes' they were accused of via the socially acceptable religions inquisitions, and Jihad torture industries, but Forensics, cell-phone, and public video-camera image-capture tech changed all that; What if Roman Polanski had an image-capture cell-phone?, he would have stopped the mother-Daughter badger-game tag-team.

    Valkyrie Ziege Mourne

  • I gotta get some of your medication.

  • Man, I love Charlie Rose interviews but the guy really comes off as clueless sometimes. "Psychoanalyze your whole life for me Roman. Let's keep returning to the painful memory of your mother's loss for our benefit, even though you've already said everything there is to say."

  • Seriously, I just finished watching it. I would have liked to hear more about Polanski's ideas on film making and less of Rose trying to manipulate him into revealing his personal life. It really shows that Rose is sometimes just an asshole with an agenda, trying to come off as being "sensitive."

  • Samantha Geimer n'ee Gailey, was left alone with Polanski as a mother/daughter 'honey trap extortion con', then when he refused to be extorted, Miss Samantha's mother filed charges against him, but proper blood tests to prove drug/alcohol use, and samples taken to prove Polanski had any form of sexual-intercourse with Miss Samamtha never were taken; therefor the charges are 'hearsay', and the case should've been thrown out of court.

    Valkyrie Ziege Mourne

  • If he was so innocent, why did he plead guilty?

  • Polanski was pressured into a false confession by extortionists, which was easy as he's under the extreme grief-process because 8-years before, his pregnant wife was brutally murdered; that counts as hard-ship, and duress.

This case needs to be re-opened/re-tried based on that, and the fact the accuser's blood wasn't tested/entered into evidence in 1978, and dna testing didn't start until 1983.

    Tech stopped the honey-trap con;

    Tech rules, dude!

    Valkyrie Ziege Mourne

  • That makes no sense at all. If somebody was trying to extort from him, he could've easily gone to the police with that information and cleared his name. He had good lawyers. They wouldn't have advised him to plead guilty if the evidence against him hadn't been strong. Moreover, to retry the case he'd need to come back to the States (which he's clearly scared of doing). Why don't you just admit that you love his movies and don't really care whether or not he raped a 13-year-old girl?

  • The socially acceptable religions force confessions, because they are greedy children, and to avoid collecting proper evidence, as the socially acceptable religions prefer lynchings, and witch-burnings to proper civil trial. It's a good thing you aren't Roman Polanski, huh?, good thing Sharon Tate wasn't your wife, carrying your child, that was wanted, huh? well, well, well, aren't you lucky.

    Valkyrie Ziege Mourne

  • Oh, now I understand. Thank you for enlightening me. You really do make a lot of sense.

  • haha he never regretted having sex with 13 or 15 yr olds when he was like over 40 once or never even acknowledged it as a mistake or anything, and quickly changed the subject.

  • I don't know how Roman can stand to go over his past with each interview, but he is a survivor and a great influence.
