I have no problem with this song. It doesn't fit the whole theme of Beauty and the Beast. The movie is about love blind to physical appearances and about hope. This song is almost defeating and a bit whining. So...do I like the song? Not at all. The Beast never once doubted his love for Belle. Then again, I've never seen the broadway version, so I don't know the complete context of the song.

This song comes right after Belle runs out of the castle following the West Wing incident. So it's kind of saying, "I just scared off the one person who could get me back to normal, and now I'm once again faced with what will happen if I can't get her to love me." Does make more sense now?

@ShinigamiDeath90 He isn't doubting his love for Belle. When he says "If I can't love her" he isn't not in love with her, actually it's the opposite. He means "If I can't BE with her." He doesn't think it's possible for her to love a beast. He sings it again when she leaves, and it's pretty much a death wish. "Let the world be done with me."

I saw this live yesterday, and it blew my mind. The beast stole the show, I think. Next time its in town, drop everything and go! :D

I really like this song. But it's too high for a bass to sing, and too low for a baritone/tenor to sing. Whoever does this show, good luck finding a beast who can actually sing all the notes well. Because the low notes in this song are just as beautiful and important as the high ones.

It is too high for a bass indeed, but it's perfect for a baritone. The song isn't that low, it never drops beneath the second B beneath the middle C. Maybe for a tenor that's too low, but not for most baritones. At least not for me ^^.. The low notes are beautifull indeed!

are you sure you aren't a baritone or maybe a bass-baritone? many baritones have deep, sexy lower extensions just like basses (I'm a baritone and can sing down to a low E and my voice is really dark like a bass) but the tessitura is higher. true basses are pretty rare, high school aged basses are even rarer and high school aged basses with strong upper ranges are even rarer than that. if you truly are a bass though, more power to you, your range is huge =P

@xxkewldudexx you could be a lyric baritone or a tenor, i had the same range when i started singing and now it's from E (2nd below the middle C) and up to C (one above the middle C) and I'm a lyric baritone =)
