  • 4:42 in the AM I am still remembering the great times 2 nights ago when they played this,,, i was jumping up and down like a crazy in excitement..thank u and come back to FL

  • Still a classic >3

  • We all got some. Some more than others.. . .

  • effin love this song!

  • So many memories hearing this track and funny enough all of them in cold dark weather.

  • @mandywantsitnow You are probably the type of lady that calls the cable company and complaints about the premium channels' free preview weekend not coming on. I myself am not famous, even so I would put a towel over my head if I had to walk by you or at least put a paper bag over yours

  • just saw them three nights ago. it was awesome.

  • @bigsammy2914

Where did you see them? Haven't heard any activity and hoped Evan wasn't lost.

  • I liked this song better when it was called "Dirty Work" by Steely Dan.

  • @MrSchmitza Similar chord progression in the intro, that's about it. They really don't sound alike.

  • @MrSchmitza You are totally right on with the comparison . I admit it . I'm a closet Dan fan !!

  • @pelicanmouse who isn't

  • In my opinion, start to finish, one of the very best albums from the 90's! Very solid....

  • gay for evan dando? PSSSHT as if thats not a given.

  • Why can't we have GOOD MUSIC ANYMORE??!!! WE NEED MORE GROUPS LIKE THIS!!! ENOUGH OF THE MONKEY RAP

  • Going to see them peform 'It's a shame about Ray' in Liverpool in December......cant wait!!!

  • iI love how shootin dope has your father sayin,,what ya do with the camaro I gave ya and why are ya naked cryin in this field?

  • @BerkLeeDrm I uh ..am kind of ashamed to admit i have that beat. it involves a german shepard, a 1964 convertible corvette and an airport runway ..

  • @BerkLeeDrm haa I wonder why I wrote that? I didnt even listen to the words. or did I..haaahaaaaa hes sayin..I love my drug..................buddy....and she is my drug? doh

  • being an addict is an awesome responsibility...lol!!!....it takes dedication.

  • @kurt771965 not really.A lot of people become drug addicts because they can't stay dedicated to anything else and feel very unfulfilled,so they turn to drugs.Sorry, not trying to start shit,I just don't like when people talk about drugs like it's something to be proud of.Being "dedicated" to drugs is not something to be proud of.

  • @ChenoaEarth I agree totally. Having spent years fighting my own addictions, I felt I was entitled to make a bad joke about a good song.

  • Thumbs up if you're gonna go watch The Lemonheads in Little Rock, AR tonight! :D

  • yesterday.....hey ...what a simple ,honest groundbreaking bit of songwriting.................im a TOTAL addict of this....and Capo 3rd fret and skies the limit!!!!!! ha ah ah aha AHA

  • god fucking damn it

  • they have to laugh to look at eachother. Because they deep down they are ashamed and actually want better for themselves and eachother. There's a lot of meanings i get out of it but I keep coming back to that one too.

  • This song is not directly about drugs! The "drugs" mentioned and implied in this song are a METAPHOR! Evan has said so himself. This song has a little bit of a deeper meaning than a junkie going with his girlfriend junkie trying to get another hit. Think a little deeper people!

  • @shelleyinthecity Do you mean that words can have more than one meaning? I am not sure I understand...

  • @shelleyinthecity why?....too much work

  • I don't feel like this necessarily has to pertain to drugs and the people you do them wiht. Maybe it could also mean someone who's like a drug to you. Just a thought...

  • For those who understand....this is a different type of friendship...

    And feels damn good....

  • I never did get over someone stealing my Two Weeks in Australia VHS. Thank God this made it on the It's a Shame About Ray Deluxe Edition.

  • I miss him so much... our friendship was so fucked up, but... i still miss him every god damned day. I dont even miss the drugs, just him

  • this was the first "CD" I ever bought ( back when they had those ).

  • @crimsonsunlight2 it's the next CD i'm gonna buy... (cds rule man)

  • @crimsonsunlight2 My first cds were Riot Act by Pearl jam and Theres Nothing Left to loss by the foo fighters and this was 6 months ago!. :)

  • @crimsonsunlight2 the last 'album' i ever bought!!

  • @crimsonsunlight2 what are these "CD" things you speak of

  • Been there done that haha

  • my all time fav song to shoot dope too.

  • Comment removed

  • I wonder if they sing this song in Mexico when they kidnap and behead thousands to feed our demand to get high? Maybe the pharmaceutical company CEOs sing this when they look at their balance sheets for opiates and benzos? They have to laugh when they look at each other!

  • I never get tired of this song.

  • I totally relate to this song, describes a huge part of my life..

  • "We Have To Laugh, to Look At Eachother"

Yep Typical StOnTeRs :-) Gotta Love Them <3

Any other Person High On The Herbs(Mariguanna)

This Goes out to you, and this fucking ChiLLin, Prime Song!

StAy HiGh, It WilL GetCha BY!

  • I've never heard this song until now. I'm pretty badly addicted to a number of substances right now, and all I can think about is my cousin when I hear this... he and I used to drive around getting high and just laughing at/with eachother. After one night at the bar and maybe a little bad judgement, he pulled off the road on an express way to fix his tire. Side-swiped by a passing vehicle & lost his leg. I lost my drug buddy that day. My addiction has only gotten worse. Drugs aren't a long ride.

  • As per my previous comment, I know what Evan is trying to say! I have read about his friendship with Kurdt Cobain and the likes & I loved this song when I heard it, its only now in my twenties that it makes sense. But they aren't really your buddies are they? Unless they give you some for free. I paid for 30, I'm sure he only gave me 20! x

  • He was an amazingly pretty man, especially for a smackhead!! x

  • today i read that richard d james *aphex twin* was asked to remix songs from the lemon heads and completely forgot until a courier from the record label showed up at his door and he randomly grabbed something from his archive and submitted it.... just an interesting story i thought i would share

  • @blisterpacman Dude - I just finally found the "remix " in question (it was for a song called "Style") and yeah it confused the heck out of us when we noticed there was none of the track used nor any similar notes or anything - but checking it out the other day ,I REALLY LIKE IT !! gonna put it out on a weird compilation that's coming out in the fall...

  • gawd. i love this song, so many memories from the '90s.

  • this is a drug song.

  • less is more, unbelievable song

  • Many years ago, right after Dando was busted for drugs, the local alternative radio station am DJ cued a Lemonheads song by saying, "OK, Evan, put down that crack pipe and step up to the mic!" I remember this because I laughed so hard I almost ran off the road and into a large tree. Ah, simpler times . . .

  • Thanks for sharing. Love it.

  • I love this song it reminds of India of all places, Driving back high. Best feeling i've ever felt, I think.

  • such a beautiful song <3 it makes me ache somewhere in my chest whenever i listen to it.

  • Oh, this song rox! =)

  • young evan dando looks like joe dallesandro

  • young evan dando looks like little joe

  • LOVE

  • It would be better if it was about H..... This isn't crack head music...wtf lemonhead dude singer?!

  • @JahRed24x your a cunt what

  • Ever since I sold this album for drug money I have been wishing someone would put up the video. Thank you Rhino entertainment.

  • @RMallory83 LOL!!!!!!

  • I'm too much with myself, I wanna be someone else.

  • i love this song as a recovering addict, i never really had many good times when i was using gear. I cant remember most of it. But this song sort of sums up the sadness and loneliness of using, and how pathetic and hopeless yet sweet these people are.

  • Line of coke,Bag of Cannabis,Nose of Speed,Cigarettes,Booze,LSD,Magic mushrooms,PCP,Khat,etc,etc,blah blah,ad infinitum,Ed naseum...

  • @Bumbumawangis Ah those were the days!

  • Reminds me of being little. My Dad was an addict and he used to play this all the time and get upset. I never really got why until I was older, but still . Weird.

  • REAL friends are not drug buddys. Druf buddys are people that hang cause A) they want someone to go up/down with and be brought down and rarely up with. B) People that hang cause you have the drugs. Fuck eveyone who is not your real friend.

  • man, it takes me back. i used to listen to Lemonheads every single day for two whole years!

  • evan dando takes chilled down to another level

  • is the girl on the cover of It's a Shame About Ray?

  • @ClangBanggClang No, the girl on the cover I'm pretty sure is Juliana Hatfield, who played base on the album, and had a pretty fair solo career of her own. She's the girl singing on various songs on the album including this one, and lived with Evan Dando for a while in the Allston area of Boston.

  • my drug buddy reminds me so much of my addiction years as well. i am glad i am in a place now where all i get are good memories from this song

  • Good song

  • Song is so chill.

  • I love this song, never gets old. After my initial 90's exposure to this song, the 2007 "Catch & Release" soundtrack reintroduced me to this classic.

  • No, that song is called "Two Souls (Angelina). I think it's about Audrey Hepburn's Character in "Breakfast At Tiffany's." Great song, but I'm not sure if Dando wrote it. The original is hard as Hell to find.

  • fantastic song!

  • I had to hunt this out as i heard it on Trigger Happy

    An absolute cracker

  • This is classic 90's rock man, it's so good!

  • @necr0sins yeah this is the epitome of 90's alt. classic cult rock..

  • "we have to laugh, to look at eachother, we have to laugh, cause we're not alone."

no other song reminds me so much of me and my close friends when i was an addict.

i regret being an addict, but for many years, it was who i was, and those memories will always be apart of me, and along with the bad memories, i can't forget those special moments i had, i can't forget how beautiful things were sometimes. sorry if you guys don't like what i posted, i'm just speaking my heart right now.

  • thats inspiritional, good for you for getting through that. thanks for sharing

  • @lovelovehatehate57 beautifully stated

  • @lovelovehatehate57 i'm with ya... I feel the same way... although my "doc" was meth...we were all friends... but sometimes i wonder if it wasn't just the drugs that made us friends...

  • @lovelovehatehate57

    my drug buddy

  • @lovelovehatehate57 I think i know what you mean. Cheers.

  • @lovelovehatehate57 hey i totally get what you are saying! i've been where you have been , as much pain as it causes us, we have to remember all the beautiful moments, as well!

  • @lovelovehatehate57 fucking right! i know how you feel.

  • @lovelovehatehate57 I think this is one of those songs that sort of makes you speak your heart.

  • @lovelovehatehate57 Probably one of the most honest and humbling comments I have ever read on Youtube.

  • @lovelovehatehate57

I am a recovering addict with 8 months ... I wrestle with the same demons..when it worked for me it really clicked..but that cant last..if it does god bless..but for me..this addict..the pretty lights turned to cop lights and that crazy sound was an ambulance siren.

  • @lovelovehatehate57 amen. i totally agree. the way i was is what makes me who i am now. i regret some things but then again i don't because i would not be who i am today. and i LOVE this song. i always have since it came out! i miss the 90's.

  • @lovelovehatehate57 There's nothing wrong with speaking from the heart.Brought a smile to my face.Hope all is well with you!

  • @lovelovehatehate57

    me too man,

I'm in recovery and its a hard road, but you look back at those amazing times, whether they look amazing through the lens of time or whether they were, you can't help but cherish them with the bad times too, and hell, there were a lot of those.

  • ..she's coming over, we'll go out walking, make a call along the way. She's in the phone booth, I'm looking in, there comes a smile on her face.

There's still some of the same stuff we got yesterday!!

I love love love this song!

  • Lovely :)
