Accelerometer-based User Interfaces for the Control of a Physically Simulated Character

hahaha this is amazing!!!! i am trying to create wiimote gestures that will make a shaker sound to play according to how much force the user applies wen shaking the wiimote....will an accelerometer do that? and how do i do it?
