I've watched the series and read the books - very interesting and mind opening. This books are NOT for everyone. If you are too set in the traditional ways, brainwashed by religion and government and like to believe blindly all you've been taught, than don't read this. BUT if you have your own mind and, feel that there is a lot of things that contradict themselves in history and in religion, read this book and it will make a hell of a lot more sense.
Questions: 1st) Why would I want a book that labels itself as redefining history but explains what I already know? 2nd) Does a book who's primary focus is on history have cause for predictions?

I wouldn't say that all history has been tampered with, but I agree some parts of it have been by the Catholic Church. For example there are many parts of the Bible that have the word "liturgy" even in the Old Testament. The word liturgy means 'service to the word,or service to the Lord's Supper. My question is: What is the word "liturgy" doing in the Old Testament if the Lord's supper hadn't taken place yet? Another word is "witchcraft". There was no such word before the 15th century A.D.
I've actually read this book. It is a highly rigorous scientific and mathematical book with LOTS of graphs. It's very interesting and professionally written (although some parts of the book contain way too much mathematical data that is too complex for the average person to understand).
I too was skeptical at first but now I know this book is highly credible. But you don't have to take my word for it. Read the book. In fact, you can read the book for free on Google.

But human civilization began in about 8000 BC - modern humans as we know them today originated around 23000 BC - humans as a defined race began in 5,000,000 BC.

The thing that is true is that we do not have the technology to really know the age of many materials. The one item that makes me question the history of the planet is the Piri Reis Map that shows the southern Antartica landmass as it is under the ice. For it to be modern it would have to be under 50 years old to have used modern radar technology, etc. And yet it was in a museum 100 years before that, collecting dust in a back room... Not in a glass case having been bought for $1 million!

First, I don't claim things that I am not aware of. Fomenko is a mathmetician, and unless he understands the meaning of the map, it does him no good. And he uses documents, so how do you know those aren't fakes?
Second, The Qur'an, Hadith, actual dated evidence, oral history, an entire culture.
Third, they don't contradict if they're real, and if they do, then we look into it. We don't know everything or understand all, so we can't have certainty in everything but understand best we can.

Haven't you ever heard of archaeology, universities, or reality. Where do you think people came from if we only had history for 1000 years? I'm sure man didn't invent an entire religion with doctrine, found written letters from Roman soldiers on parchment, or invented aqueducts, domes, and an entire law system before creating a written alphabet and recording things. Egyptians, Romans, and Jews were very good about recording history. It isn't all rational, but it isn't all fake either.

No duh, Allah didn't write the Qur'an, people did, beginning around 700 A.D. The documents are dated, scientifically and historically. Also, "oral history" is evidence, although there is the "telephone game" effect that can slightly change stories or dramatically in some ways over time. Written documents can be changed on purpose just like stories, and much of history and stories you hear comes from someone who first tells it, being true or not. However, if it is an account, then it can amount.
