  • Absolutely awesome sound from the 3 diesels. What we would call mega thrash!! Superb and thanks for the upload! Ken

  • This video reminds me of Bolero by Ravel. Sounds like a piece of music to me. By the way, what microphone is used?

  • Strangely fascinating....and how long is that train !

  • Somehow, I like this better than the HD one.

  • Beautiful 4 stroke-cycle sound.

  • the motor comes in the first or the last place?

  • great video, but for all the viewers, skip to 3.50 to save 3.50 minutes of your life

  • Ein geiler Sound!

  • This is torture for my subwoofer, but music in my ears - especially the horn, just an amazing sound! Thanks for this!

  • @veedub198909 Thanks! :-) (If you like this sound, then don't forget to watch the newer version (HD), which I posted as a video response!) As a matter of fact I'll be there again in exactly two weeks, so watch out for some new stuff soon... ;-)

  • ...

  • Sounds neat with my Senns.

  • A complete waste of time.

  • @heymrpaul As I already explained in the description, this video is an uncut version of another video of mine, in which you can hear the train approaching from far away... If you don't like this version, then you should watch the other version... Furthermore, my video's are not intended for people who want everything quickly served, but rather at people who like to take their time to enjoy the full experience... If you don't like it then just stay away from this and watch other people's video's!

  • is that in China?

  • @I2SUSA Yep, in Inner Mongolia... :-)

  • I counted 59??

  • One hell of a recording.

  • Brilliant way to test my new headphones! I adore this, thank you!

  • I counted 49 wagons. Now that's some train! Sounds great.

  • here it comes!!!!

  • Sounds exactly like Alco locomotives or an off shoot of them.

  • Music for my ears!?? FOR MY SOUL,!? AWSOME!!!

  • Sounds fantastic through the bluetooth headphones!

  • @stunnedasmearse That's indeed how you should listen to it... Good headphones on and the volume button completely open... ;-)

  • @stunnedasmearse You will probably like my other video shot here two years later too... This time in HD and with a "Rode Stereo VideoMic" as external microphone... I posted it here as a video response... :-)

  • Hypnotic

  • astonishing ! Listen through headphones.

One of my favorite clips of all times.

    well done !

  • Those diesels sound like Alco C-series (and probably have the same emissions ratings... haha)

  • Wow!

  • That's a dang cool video, I love the sound of locos bouncing all around the valley. Cool video!

  • Thanks! ;-) In that case I'm sure you might like several other videos in my collection here on YouTube too... ;-) (i usually focus on noisy trains in mountainous landscapes...)

  • that's a pretty impressive load for three locos of +/- 4000 hp each. I wonder how many UP, say, would use on a similar load?

  • Well, I recently read some news about the JiTong line, stating that they want to increase train weights to 7000 ton, with four (!) engines on those trains! I can't wait to film some of those...

  • Beautifully framed shot; makes the best of the great location - well done!!

  • beautiful!!

  • Thanks... It's an older video already, but only in 2007 you could see these combinations with two DF4DH engines in front and one DF4DH in the back... :-) One year later those were replaced by only two DF8B's, that are much stronger than a DF4DH... (3680 kW against 2940 kW...)

  • Imagine Union Pacific going through a tunnel like that! But that was awesome!

  • Thanks for the nice comments! ;-)

  • Wow, thats quite an experience!

  • WOW impressive!!! its crazy cuz i was wondering were the hell the trai nwas coming from, bottom or tunnel. it was eating at me cuz it took like half the vit to find out lol lol

  • Perfect conditions for an amazing audio experience..thanks for sharing..5*...Bob

  • Thanks for the nice comments! :-)

As a matter of fact I was here again in the beginning of this month, but unfortunately the conditions were not so perfect during the two days I was there, with a snowstorm on both days... :-/ A very hard wind, bad visibility and the snow melting when it touched the ground... :-(

I made a few acceptable recordings though, but I still have to edit them before I can publish them here... :-)

  • Subwoofer effect LOL

  • Haha, indeed... :-D

Well, and it goes without saying that it's a lot more spectacular in reality... ;-)

  • A few questions (then I'll go away - I promise!) How long is the tunnel? and how long are the lead loco's in it, is the first horn sound when the train is about to enter the tunnel? Many thanks.

  • No problem! :-D

The tunnel is not very long, I guess 300 meters only, the most interesting part is that it's a horseshoe curve here... The train first passes at my right side, then turn 180°, and then emerge from this tunnel... :-) That's why you can hear them so long...

Just type "Jingpeng map" in Google, and search for the village of "Erdi", or "Tunnel 2". (I'm standing between tunnels 2 and 3.)

  • Just discovered your work; excellent stuff. The Chinese really look after their track, those trains do not sway or rock and this is a busy railway with heavy trains.

  • Thanks!

And indeed, the best way to get an idea of the quality of the Chinese tracks is by sleeping in one of those exellent long distance passenger trains. And believe me, I've already slept very good on Chinese trains... :-D
