Id cry if i won bronze! The things olympians work for and do is extreme harsh and rewarding! Getting any medal at the olympics is such a rewarding experience for the hard work they put it. Id be satisfied with a bronze! Remember theres 3 medals and thousands of athletes that want the same one!

No, Nastia killed it that night and Shawn has uncharacteristic errors. An Olympic silver medal is nothing to sneeze at, just ask the poor girls who left empty handed. She got her gold eventually; quit whining.

if you ever competeed in anything before you would know that when you train long and hard for something, your training for the gold, your training to win! when she lost, to a team mate she has beaten in the past, i imagine it was great disapointment for her. she IS crying because she lost, you can tell beacause she starts hystarically crying when she she mentions she got the silver. She was never going to beat nastia anyway! Nastia's gold was well desereved!!!
I'm not sure that you can say for sure why she's crying uness you spoke with her. Btw lots of people do compete on many different levels in a variety of sports/arts/etc. so I don't think that qualifies you to be an authority on her tears :)

Why would she cry about getting silver ...That is a huge accomplishment, especially for Shawn, She's not a bad loser ...she is emotional for good reasons, happiness.
She was definitely crying because of the solver. Remember before the medal ceremony for the AA you could see her face was really red from bawling. It was understandably a big let down for her. However, I think it was big moment for artistic gymnastics. With the new code the sport had really lost it's artistic roots and thats what Nastia embodies. Yeah Nastia looks more Russian but her technique, grace, and ability are exactly what a true artistic gymnast should display. Nastia deserved the gold.
that's probably part of it, but i also think just the RELIEF of it finally being over and performing well and doing her best was too much. probably some sadness about not winning, but i think that has less to do with her own desires than the pressure she felt to live up to expectations.
i dont think any of that was happy crying shes such a positive person she was just trying to look on the bright side there is some footage of her congratulating nastia and the second she turns around she is in tears

Best displays of sportsmanship ever can be seen in Shawn. She trains her whole life, then gets SECOND best. And she takes it happily, never once complaining, smiling the whole time.
I really would have loved to see her take gold, not that Nastia doesn't deserve it, but Shawn is...Shawn. I think she is the only one who could handle getting silver and act as she did.

Lets face it Shawn is a better acrobat, but Anastasia is prettier and has better lines. She makes Shawn look like Minny Mouse, and well.. sorry guys Shawn does look like Minny Mouse. Anastasia's is just more graceful and looks better even if her acrobatic tumbling passes are easier they are not easy and they just look better. It is not about doing the hardiest passes. It is about being the most clean on every event, and that night Anastasia looked much sharper than Shawn.
Silver is like what we call Drowning when you can see the harbour. She worked all those years for this and missed on probably one hundreds of points. Well done though Shawn!
She's probably crying becuase of the massive emotional and physical strain she's gone through to get where she is, and they're tears of relief more than anything. She's exhausted, because she's had to remain composed for so long, and now it's finally over.
Whether she cried from being sad with silver or happy with how far she had come & just being in the Olympics and getting second, Shawn is amazing and she has so many loving and supporting fans such as myself who know that she did her best and we will always believe in her and follow her with whatever she does. It's just sad to see her cry though because gymnasts are taught to show no emotion like many athletics (except happiness is usually allowed). Shawn is amazing and she did great last summer
Well, yes, the media hyped her up, but she had already won the world championships and the US nationals, so I'm pretty sure she already had that gold in her mind. Every elite gymnast dreams about that Olympic gold, and it's not all the media's fault. At least she got gold one beam :)...I don't think she was at all robbed in the all-around.

thats so true, and to be honest it really could have gone to either of them. both shawn and nastia hit their routines and came out on top. its weird to think that if shawn had got the gold she may still be competiting like nastia, i dont know, but we're all proud of her throughout the whole olympics!

i think the reason she was crying is because she has been working for so so so long to even get to the olympics and then to be second in the world it all hit her. in gymnastics they are taught not to show emotions so i dont think she was upset about losing it was everything hitting her all at once and the realization of her being second in the world!

I think she walked away because she wanted to hide before she really broke down! She was a 16 year old girl who, like all elite athletes, trains to win, there is no shame in that. She has handled herself with grace and dignity consistently, and who can blame her for being emotional at this point!

Best displays of sportsmanship ever can be seen in Shawn. She trains her whole life, then gets SECOND best. And she takes it happily, never once complaining, smiling the whole time.
I really would have loved to see her take gold, not that Nastia doesn't deserve it, but Shawn is...Shawn. I think she is the only one who could handle getting silver and act as she did.

@skinkboy123456789 I agree, and the fact that an American teammate of hers got the gold made it sting a little less too. Both girls worked hard for it and I'm sure were happy to be standing on the podium first and second.

There are athletes besides gymnasts who work hard; obviously gymnastics is a physically taxing sport and requires discipline, strength and hours in the gym but if you're going to get emotional over youtube comments maybe you shouldn't read them.

Lets face it Shawn is a better acrobat, but Anastasia is prettier and has better lines. She makes Shawn look like Minny Mouse, and well.. sorry guys Shawn does look like Minny Mouse. Anastasia's is just more graceful and looks better even if her acrobatic tumbling passes are easier they are not easy and they just look better. It is not about doing the hardiest passes. It is about being the most clean on every event, and that night Anastasia looked much sharper than Shawn.

She's probably crying becuase of the massive emotional and physical strain she's gone through to get where she is, and they're tears of relief more than anything. She's exhausted, because she's had to remain composed for so long, and now it's finally over.

Whether she cried from being sad with silver or happy with how far she had come & just being in the Olympics and getting second, Shawn is amazing and she has so many loving and supporting fans such as myself who know that she did her best and we will always believe in her and follow her with whatever she does. It's just sad to see her cry though because gymnasts are taught to show no emotion like many athletics (except happiness is usually allowed). Shawn is amazing and she did great last summer

Well, yes, the media hyped her up, but she had already won the world championships and the US nationals, so I'm pretty sure she already had that gold in her mind. Every elite gymnast dreams about that Olympic gold, and it's not all the media's fault. At least she got gold one beam :)...I don't think she was at all robbed in the all-around.

I totally agree with everyone. The media made herr think she was gonna win gold, and things like that happen. They should realy shut up and mind their business, but thats the media... I feel bad for her, being put on the spot on TV. At least everyone understands her... Most doo, at least. thats so true, and to be honest it really could have gone to either of them. both shawn and nastia hit their routines and came out on top. its weird to think that if shawn had got the gold she may still be competiting like nastia, i dont know, but we're all proud of her throughout the whole olympics!

i think the reason she was crying is because she has been working for so so so long to even get to the olympics and then to be second in the world it all hit her. in gymnastics they are taught not to show emotions so i dont think she was upset about losing it was everything hitting her all at once and the realization of her being second in the world!

she was not happy with the outcome. she wanted to win. and she started choking up at the end when she said " i finishsed with silver". then she walked away early.....with no regards to the interviewer

I think she walked away because she wanted to hide before she really broke down! She was a 16 year old girl who, like all elite athletes, trains to win, there is no shame in that. She has handled herself with grace and dignity consistently, and who can blame her for being emotional at this point!

Sacramones performance was terrible during the olympics and was the reason why Team USA lost. With that kind of performance and still made it to the national team, I wonder how many coaches did she have to sleep with in order to get the spot. Her ass is so fat, I think her ass is at least 20 pounds extra compared to her teammates. That was why she brought down Team USA. Stupid bitch should go to Jenny Craig. Alicia will go down as the worst, and most disgraceful gymnast in Olympic history.
