Hell yah... Thats what i mostly chop up unless its run thru the mpc... But For the record: when working with audio the best file format is .wav until you get down to the final mix and master then its converted to .mp3...

And i sampled things from pro-tool sessions i have recorded and yes you can always mute or delete what you don't want to be in the sample, but if you delete it, make sure you don't save it or just save as.
