Im 41 years old, I've seen all these "grunge" bands live. I have to say that Alice in Chains and Nirvana are about tie for me. When bands have so much power that your whole body is buzzing and you are about ready to blow up thru the roof...well they did that. Especially Nirvana. Soundgarden never gave me that feeling. Pearl Jam did a couple of times. That's my comment on the big 4.

I read an interview with Layne shortly after Kurt's death and he said that he and the other guys from AIC knew him....not all that well...but enough to be devastated by his death....said he was very quiet but a really nice guy and very funny...but he said that they weren't like real close friens or anything...."Kurt was just a real quiet nice guy"

I know that Kurt Cobain said in an interview (it was in january 1993 I think) that he likes the guys from AiC. AiC and Nirvana had a gig at Rock In Rio (I bet you heard of it :P ) and Kurt and AiC (I guess especially Layne) took cocain the whole night.

So I think Kurt liked the guys from AiC. And Kurt was one of Layne's idols, so I guess he also like him. ;)
