The only reason i bet this album was poorly received was because it was released in the Grunge era when everyone shat on classic rock acts, So fuck em this is black sabbath in there 80s glory, and it is a decent album, not a heavy metal epic album but still a cool stoner power metal album, This has more in line with Danzig 4, and thats a GOOD THING.
sabbath's worst albm? haha, i smile. there is not one bad album in sabbath's history, all these underrated albums like born again, seventh star and the whole tony martin era are masterpieces!!
and even on "sabbath's worst album" are killer songs like this one, get a grip, forbidden, rusty angels, etc...it's a shame not many people know this era
Sabbath as told here is a leader and other the followers, the problem is that few times Sabbath was a follower of its own standards. I still enjoy them, every single album has something to tell.
I effin love this song . I think this is the best post ozzy song
the melody and lyrics .and i only heard it a couple of days ago for the first time and couldnt belive how awesome it was ,tony martin is singing his ass off on this song.
Sorry man, nothing to truly speak of after Born Again and yes that even includes Dehumanizer with Dio. Sabbath was no more, Iommi tried to carry on and ended up compromising the band, sometimes its difficult to hang it up. let me clarify, after BA the music would be acceptable for other metal bands, but, for sabbath they set the standard, this is follower music.
@inchilada from 1975, great great song :D exactly 20 years later this song is released, different band but still the same AMAZING guitar player! Black Sabbath Rules!!!
black sabbath rules in every fuckin song. No matter who is singing... Stop arguing and listen to ''BORN AGAIN'' and ''SEVENTH STAR'' , their most underrated records. TONY IOMMI is the heart of heavy metal!
Well DIo was going to dominate because of his charisma.....if you had some you'd understand. No offense to Tony...he had a distinct sound so he shouldnt have cared.
(not gonna comment on the satanism though) Metal is fine without morons drinking blood.
The fist verse of this song really hits me hard emotionally. It describes directly what I felt when I heard this song for the first time. Hats off to Black Sabbath...
Pensaba que había oído todo lo mejor de Black Sabbath y de pronto me encuentro con esta maravilla. Una canción redonda con un estribillo poderoso y elegante.
this is just one of the sabbath's best songs ever. Martin is very good and distinctive voice but i think Dio was best...Anyways, maybe one day they will tour with Martin
sometimes u get overshadowed by the legend and the stardom of your predecessors. Tony martin is a classical example of this case. In my opinion his stuff is much much better than DIO or Ozzy but he never got the status he deserved. Its human nature that sometimes we dont accept a replacement, no matter how good, coz we are so occupied by the "ORIGINAL". Iommi's riffs are a perfect compliment to Martin's vocals.

tony martin is better singer than ozzy, he should have more recognition, ozzy only was famous because he was in sabbath when they created heavy metal but he isn't a good singer
@sicfuker25 sorry, but how do you decide who's better? tony martin has butchered ozzy era sabbath songs because he just doesnt have the same feel .. listen to sabbath bloody sabbath live by tony
Slash, couldnot agree more man. Martin era is far a black sabbath rather than Dio. Dio is more like Rainbow which is great but yet not a black sabbath
This is a whole new side of Black Sabbath that I never heard!! I always listened to their 'hard' music.. this has brought me to want to listen even more now that I have found some slow songs.. AWESOME:)
tony martin is probably the best sabbath singer...but nothing compares to ozzy's black sabbath...it's just black sabbath...they didn't seem to care about all the musical rules they just played and felt good...their soul led them...
i actually think Martin has a more of a Sabbath voice than Dio. Dio is good but when i hear the Dio years of Sabbath it sounds like DIO and not Black Sabbath
@vinnynumbnuts ozzy is pretty much sabbath. i mean without ozzy to me there would be no sabbath. why tony didnt take ozzys place first beats me. but the sabbath reunion tour with ozzy was the PURE sabbath if you know what i mean
@defnist47 Yeah but honestly when people think of Black Sabbath, they mostly thing about the singer, in which case Ozzy is the one that people like to remember, even though Dio was in the band. May he rest in piece. But, anyway yes Tony stuck with Sabbath the longest, I'm just saying that Martin has a little more known of the Sabbath voice instead of Dio. Of coarse when I mean Sabbath voice I mean he has more of the original sounding Sabbath even though Ozzy and he doesnt sound anything alike.
@Defcon737 dude. i love Dio. He's one of my idols and he was great in Sabbath. I just find Martin to have more of the original Sabbath voice. but anyway if u want to bash my head u might as well do it to the 31 people who agree

Well said my friend. I met him and the whole band back in 94 on my 24th birthday. Tony Martin never got the credit he deserved. He was the best at filling the shoes of 4 previous singers. Totally underrated in my opinion.

Except that Black Sabbath is not a who's who of Rock.
Black Sabbath is the synthesis of four men: Iommi, Butler, Ward and Osbourne.
I own all the post-Ozzy BS albums. And many of them are great, but it's not Black Sabbath. It's another band that should have it's own name, just as the Dio lineup now has Heaven and Hell.
Ozzy wasn't a good vocalist (technically speaking), he contributed next to nothing during the production of each album, and his era released NSD and Technical Ecstasy. How often do you listen to either of those albums?
Technical Ecstasy and Never Say Die are among my favorite albums from that era. I think they're absolute masterpieces, wildly creative, experimental and emotional.
As regards Ozzy's contributions to Sabbath, he composed the melody lines to each song, which were perfect, and aside from the riff, is the aspect most people remember from a song.
I used to be one of those sabbath fans that would say " theres no sabbath beyond ozzy" but i realized that there IS alot of good sabbath with the other singers, it's just DIFFERENT, once i realized that i enjoyed this stuff.
I've never been a big fan of this album, always prefering this line-ups work on "Tyr"...but after listening to the songs again years later I think they're not as bad as I remember. I think people are disapointed that the songs don't 'take off' as much as songs from the previous albums.
I love it.

Tyr would have to be my favourite album by this line up, though i'm just getting interested in the post-Dio years of Sabbath.
