And you know...those screams...they were the best in the history of horror. You don't need to see that, it's just their scream you feel that makes you understand how scary it is...I mean I always tried to imagine what happens in there, but still my ideas weren't as scary to be compared to their scream

@SpazzyMcGee1337 The answer to that question is a solid "No". The Beast is biomechanical in nature. To spread it requires either machinery or biomass to consume. Unless the planet in question had some sort of wrecked ship on it, and they managed to infect that, there would be nothing for it to assimilate, and it would die off almost immediately.

Cataclysm needs the nomination forr best voice acting in a game, I don't need good graphics just feed me more plot. About time relic got their hands on the crew that made this and made a new one. Make it equally creepy.

I enjoyed the first homeworld really much, but i remember playing this for a time i was sick in bed, and i was really trapped by the plot...Sometimes sequels equal the original and this is one of these games that doesnt really need to rely on the original one. Its a story about the humble Somtaaw miners turning from scratch the heroic slayers of the galaxy-menacing Beast from beyond time...

The scene when somtaaw logo is redrawn as a sword piercing a open maw got me feeling shivers for days :)

Damn I was about 8 when I started playing cataclysm and had nightmares about the part when they were screming: "We LIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!"

(I had the german version which was even more scarier because of the voice acting which was pretty good but somehow disturbing) (Im german btw)

The best part is that the Beast completely infect the cargo bay and turns it into a mothership within a few hours, it gains an infection beam capable of infecting several more ships all at once and it gains all sorts of weird gunky crap on the hull. When you meet it later, you pretty much run like hell, then it begins to study the English language from what was left on the cargo bay, becoming more powerful each mission. No parasite can be THAT badass...unless it's the Beast.

If you're talking about how in Cataclysm, you hear the crew screaming when they get infected by the Beast.. that's because when they get infected, the radio frequencies seem to open up for some reason and you hear them screaming. When the lower decks get infected, check for the icon at the top-left that shows a speaker-like object. That's why you can hear them.
