It's a funny thing about every airport, nobody ever leaves the airport when the fire alarm sounds unless the TSA is running down the concourse at 15 mph yelling as loud as they can to get everybody out.
This same thing happened in the SEPTA concourse at 30th St station. All staff knew it was going off and there was no emergency. But I did report it to Amtrak information and they were aware of that.
this same thing happened to me at orlando international airport 5 years ago it was an emergency they said there was a tornado and flash flood warning then this guy came over the speaker and said ALL FLIGHTS ARE CANCELLED UNTILL FURTHER NOTICE JUST TAKE COVER i spotted 2 funnel clouds and i counted at least 500 lighting strikes in the last 2 hours there was winds up too 75-80 mph gust at least up to 95-100 mph there was flooding on the runways and a plane was covered in water
This was also back when the threat of terrorism was fresher on our minds, and the security was high, tight baggage screenings, etc, so it was horrible to NOT know what it was!
Flarrm09 and xthemwordx, In NYC most public buildings with less than 9 floors are required to have coded fire alarm signals. The Signal you heard was 10-2 meaning waterflow detected. (In this case it is most likely caused from low water pressure in the system because the building would most likely be evacuated if an actual fire sprinkler was activated. 10-1 means Smoke detected, and for pull stations you are correct when you say it is a 3 part number, the first being the floor number.
@Firealarmking52 About taking pics or the alarm going off and no one telling passengers what's going on? LOL. either way, I'm useless for help on that, my friend. I have no idea!
When I heard the alarms go off at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in NYC, they sounded a similar (possibly identical) code. So maybe it is a NYC thing. The alarms in the section where I was were Faraday/Cerberus MTL's so they sounded very much like this too (and they were VERY loud).
@stormspotters Wow! Which brings the question, Why wouldn't they TELL us it was a fire alarm and let us get the heck out of there? lol. I remember thinking it might be, and trying to figure out if that was smoke I smelled, or just my own fear!! lol
@stormspotters Right! And even THEN, it would have been nice to hear someone pick up that mic and say, "Um, ma'am, you can quit running in circles, now...it's okay." LOL
Lol u think it might hav been a tornado warning, there are no tornados in NYC and if there are they're extremly and I mean 1/1trillion chance of a tornado in NYC and there are no warning alarms in NYC for a Tornado. Trust me I was born, raised, and still live in NYC.
@stephqaz I'm glad to hear that. lol. I know you think I'm silly, but I lived in Oklahoma, and now in Tennessee... where tornadoes have kicked our butts for years! Especially as this REALLY strong storm had just hit, my mind just went there!
Well, what are the sensors SENSING? What are the codes for? What is a coded pull station? I KNOW I'm SO ignorant of those terms, but it still has me curious! THANK YOU to all who have commented!!! You're awesome!
That happened to my Dad one time a year or more ago at LGA. He said it was so ennoying and now I know what it sounded like. They should put in a brand-new system in like Wheelock or System Sensor.
interesting coding. its like 2 then 5 (i didn't count the second set). it's weird, but i think i've heard something like it on another video. but who knows. you're right.
hmmmm very interesting... i have a close relative who works there will try to find out..he is actually on vacation now..what i can tell you is don't believe anything you here at the airport...even crazier half the stuff i tell him - like this for example - is news to even HIM!!!scary stuff glad you are ok!

Code 10-2... Interesting. Coded pulls always have 3 numbers. Must be a panel coding.

@amrslamr well they really should have unless they knew it was falsely pulled which it probably was.

Sounds too deep to be TrueAlert's...

It could be a Spectralert Advanced. Those are rather loud and deep IIRC.
